Wow! Awesome collab!! No one dominated or got left out.l think the song is excellent. and the vocals are superb. Clapton and the Bee Gees at the tops of their games! Bravo, boys!
Me, (Allan Love) Midge Ure, Andy Hill, Barry and Robin Gibb did the back ups on this track and also the Elton John track for the Bunbury's. Great day of fun, BBQ and madness.
Thanks for additional info! Do you recall when exactly this took place? Info is generally sparse but suggests it was originally laid down in '86 but may have had additional recording and mixing done in '88. Reading Midge Ure was involved makes me think around the time of the '88 Prince's Trust event?
This song was commissioned for the boxing event of the 1988 Summer Olympics soundtrack. It had a promising start but the vastly controversial & robbery lost of legend Roy Jones Jr. did not help the promotion of the soundtrack. Also it was in this Olympics that Lennox Lewis of Canada (that time) beat the US Riddick Bowe. The other BEE GEES song Shape of Things To Come was pulsatingly appropriate for the Tae-Kwon-Do event, but the event itself was not that popular, so a gem was underused. Both great songs which like Roy, was robbed of a win for the above reasons.
The song was on a cassette tape of the Seoul Olympics that I bought in Sapporo in 1988. It also included BARRY's solo guitar play “shape of things to come” in the interlude. I like both!!
I never heard this song before.Fantastic🔝Ive been a Bee Gees Fan for over 46 years and believe it or not, they inspired me to listening to Eric Clapton, because of Miami and the album he did there, which inspired the Bee Gees to record Main Course in the same studio. However its a kind of magic, because I believe that we are all,in one way or another interconnected💡By the way today its Eric Claptons 78 Birthday,so I wanna send some birthday wishes out to Mr.Eric Slowhand Clapton🎸🎙🎂And also some best wishes and greetings to Barry Gibb And The Gibb Family and the Estate of Maurice and Robin Gibb🙏Thank You For The Music🎼
