mark -- live it is tough. on a computer, not so much. it's done a little at a time. they're stretching words and compressing them to make them fit the verse. it sounds like they played with the pitch too.
Clever, yes, but not that tough. It's mostly Clapton's vocals coupled with an instrumental version of Billie Jean, and MJ singing the chorus at one point. I'm not saying it's easy, it's not. But some mashups are certainly more complex.
Michael Jackson beat boxed all of his songs to Quincy Jones who took it into the studio to produce the songs. There's vids of Michael Jackson beat boxing on video, saying how he envisioned all of the songs and how they would sound.
Took me years to realize that Michael's random noises were him playing "fills" with his voice. He wrote pretty much every part of all of his songs even though he couldn't play any instruments or read/write musical notation, so he just sang all the instruments, so his "hee-hee"s and such were like guitar players using a whammy bar.

That's quite usual with Bill's mashups. I can't hear any song he remixes now without my brain auto-suggesting the other parts he added in from elsewhere.
@@uprightdoublebass Peavy classic 2x12 75w with a Boss C5, Big Muff (black russian) and Ernie Ball wah was my guitar setup from 99 forward and I almost bought an Echoplex a few years back but decided not to. So yeah, uh my comment was just like a "this guy knows what's what" sorta thing in my head. Didn't mean to offend or anything, born 86 and still ticked I mostly missed the Seattle phenominon.
As a musician, both cover and original. Many years of working stages at bars and big venues. This impresses me, the mix/mash ups. I've performed both of these songs over the years, and never would have put them together. Absolutely brilliant!
Same here but not so much the big venues. Close to 40 years of bars and nightclubs. Played Cocaine a million times like most bar bands do. Would have loved to have played Billie Jean instead after the first couple hundred times.
As a 50 year old who is bored to death of classic rock and the same songs everyday on the radio, even going so far as permanently turning my radio off, thanks for your setlist. It's on my Bluetooth, nonstop.
I will say: my absolute favorite moment is the part where the chorus of both songs combine, and it just becomes an argument between Jackson and Clapton on if "she's" lying or not. Well done, fine sir.
What I like about all of McClinton’s work is that he takes the time to perfect the integration of the two supporting works. Melodies and best signatures are nearly perfectly matched. Great job!!!!!

That drum track is being played by Jonathon "Sugarfoot" Moffett... Yeah, that's a real drummer playing on all of Jackson's solo songs.... Look him up on YT he's pretty special...

As a lil kid, I loved hearing The Eagles Cream on the stereo. Never got into Clapton solo or this song, until now. Brilliant, and the mix transitions are so flawless!

@JW A Because he was, but he was done with rock after cream. He went for a more soul/pure blues way in the 70s and pop/film scores in the 80s, because the blues in the 80s was almost dead, then Stevie Ray Vaughan taking the music industry by a storm and "reviving" the blues men who was doing Pop music at the time.

I was expending a lot of brain matter trying to remember Why I couldn't remember this. Eric Clapton is one of my favorite artists. Loved Cocaine. And through my high school and early 20 Michael Jackson was big. His videos were a big part of MTV's success. Great job.

Dude, this was amazing. Edit: I have listened to this song probably 40 times since first hearing it a week ago. I truly believe this is the beat this song was written for. My father is the biggest Clapton fan, and I am named after the Man himself. Even he agrees, this mix is one of the best ever. Amazing job.

Lmao I have the same problem, I actually thought that Eric Claptons cocaine sounded similar to the beat but i was wrong turned out to be a different sound, and it did sound incorrect somehow! All because I listened to this first before listening to the actual song
