This is about the time that Clapton found himself again. For all those that think that Clapton only played well from 1965 thru 1970, feast your eyes on this. For me, late 1980’s thru early 90’s, he had surpassed all of his previous playing.
On a recent interview where he talked about "Freddie King" he said; "i discovered that I was very late (concerning his style) because Freddie had already done it long ago. Now I just want to do a good job of it". If you listen closely to Freddie King. you will many similarities with EC. and Freddie wasn't copying Eric either. Eric finally got better when he discovered that there were lots of others as good and or were better than him. Today he is better than ever. ;-)
@@robertweldon7909 yes i see your point am oin board.Another way to say it was they fed offf each other, clapton just might have ate a little more and went to another planet, (imo) no knock to any of the previous greats, they are some of my favs too
journeyman, with complete under the belt sobriety, he went to his own planet. He is a guitar i swear lol.BUT around here he had some absolutely killer concerts. This performance in general is one of my fav alll time of him.Omg his singing
Clapton is not that good it’s all average he’s just a house hold name so his fame will never go away but even his 60 peers I can name 12 people that would wipe the floor with him
Behind the Sun is a great album, one that I think most of us appreciate more as the time passes. The "over production" is less a problem as we get further away from it.
C'est une légende rien d autre à dire un des plus grands guitaristes et quel travail pour en arriver à ce niveau continu à me faire rêver. Millions de fois merci Sacha
love his voice! why do ppl keep saying he cant sing, ugggh haha Anyways..Main comment was, everbody killed it on this song, what a masterpiece.Clapton burned the piece up lol
The original studio version on the album “Behind The Sun”is hard to top.. there were a lot of emotional things going on behind the scenes which added to the vocals and solos on most of the tracks.
I just wish the studio version had acoustic drums instead of electronic drums. The electronic drums are fine, but for me I don’t think you can get the same emotion that can you get with acoustic drums compared to electronic drums.
Clapton’s was upset with the band because they did not believe in his newfound sobriety enough to do drugs and drink alcohol in front of him. That built up some resentment and intern added to his fierce vocals & fiery solos during the recording of this album in Montserrat.
Absolutely!! When I saw EC on this tour, this was the one song I was really looking forward to!! I don't remember much of the concert, but I sure do remember this song!!
Far too few clicks. Love the atmosphere, love the solos of EC, Greg and Nathan and how the audience forces Phil Collins as the last member of the band to play a solo (16:45).
Trust Phil Collins to lose the groove after 17 minutes of magic. Definitely the weakest link in this band. I will never forgive him for nailing what was almost Clapton’s masterpiece to the floor on Like A Prisoner.
Who wrote Layla? Who wrote the 12 note lead . ? Who wrote piano solo? You ever read what Clapton has written about Freddie King? You think highly of Bobby Whitlock? Do your homework knucklehead
