I am a combat veteran an old one. I have been kind of sad my whole life . then I start watching you and I seem to feel better. I beleave you have a good and pure heart. Thank you for this and God bless you
He is the strongest man out there. When this happened he was a recovering alcoholic and drug addict and he remained clean and sober through it all. I'll be honest I don't know if I could've.
I saw him shortly after he began touring after this awful trajedy Bawled my eyes out through out this songI really dont think I could have played it. I assume it was his outlet for his grief in a way. Hes a master. I have seen him 5 times. Im a lucky woman. .
It's a beautiful but tragically haunting song. I don't know how he managed to get through to the end of it. I couldn't if it had happened to any of my three children. Crying is the most appropriate reaction Rebekah.
Beka, This song is heartfelt and makes me cry... I have four children that I love dearly. They are grown now. This would crush most people... Do you have tissues in reach? I need one now. I must be strong! I can not phanthom the pain this would bring into your life.

My relation to Eric Clapton has always been personal. My aunt worked at Live Nations in the '70s. She worked as a host and greeted the bands, artists when they visited Stockholm on their tours. Among the artists, she showed around was Eric Clapton. I went to his concerts because of her. But I didn´t meet him in person. Even though I had the opportunity Yes, this song is heartbreaking when you know the background to it. But. There is another instrumental version of it that deserves listening to. And that is the bassist's Kanga Glyk´s of tears in heaven: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-S2QmtENFh2Y.html
Rebeka, if I might, I would like to recommend two more beautiful, but sad songs that will also tug at your heartstrings; they are “Monsters, by James Blunt and Concrete Angel, by Martina McBride. If you haven’t heard and reacted, to them; you might want to give one or both a listen. 😪
Love Eric as a musician but not as a parent I can't, what were they thinking leaving a door or a window open in a building at 53 stories with a small child what were they thinking??? Brain dead stuff I mean really must have been on something and not paying attention to what their kids are up to. It's sad knowing that it could have been prevented with a bit of common sense.
It's always good to see a reaction, from someone who listens to the full song without interrupting it, then speakig at the end, that is what you call courtesy for the song.
What a heart felt and wonderful song. I pray Eric's son is at peace!! I believe he is!!!! Eric handled this with class!!! He is stronger than most men!!!!!
I'm still so sad for Eric, a man who has brought so much joy to the world through his music and has suffered so much tragedy...losing his son like this, loosing part of his band in the helicopter crash that killed Stevie Ray Vaughn, loosing friends through the years like Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, John Lennon, George Harrison, etc.!!! So much tragedy!! This is still one of the best MTV Unplugged shows EVER!!
This song is one of the few songs a grown man can cry to without feeling less of a man. Any man that doesn't get teary eyed over such a song, are dead inside. I am man enough to say I cry every time I hear this song. Especially knowing the truth behind this song.
The only person elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame three different times once for The Yardbirds once with cream and once as a solo artist you should react to cream and The Yardbirds
Eric sure sounds English in this view when he is talking. After all of the hell he has been thru hell still sings well. His guitar work speaks for itself. They only made one Clapton!! This event would be soul crushing and could destroy many women & men's relationships. God it is wonderful......
Hi Rebeka, he also wrote the beautiful and sad song Circus Left Town about the tragic death of his son and he performed it during this same unplugged performance (there's a couple videos of it on RU-vid).
I have listened to this beautiful piece once and now twice to date whenever it comes on the air I deliberately choose Not to listen.only because of its heartbreaking meaning
This was a rehearsal for Clapton's critically acclaimed live show/album Unplugged. It is so personal, intimate and passionate. To the best of my knowledge, it was also the first time Eric had played this very emotional song for a full audience. I'm both amazed and grateful that he was able to do so.
This subject matter of this song is SO damn sad. Gut wrenching!!!! Eric is such a talent.... I think losing a child is every parents worst nightmare!! Eric was SO strong thru this terrible event. Thank you girl for this review!!!!! Thank you lady again..............
Rebeka, You knew the context of this song from the start. I could see it on your pretty face! Losing a child would crush most people! This is a beautiful & touching tribute to Connor......
I play guitar since I was 7 (I'm 32) and this guy is my one and only Guitar Hero. Since I saw him live with 12 years old, doing amazing and magical things with the guitar, I always wanted to play like he does. And creating such a beautiful and heartfelt song from his biggest tragedy...¡DAMN! Great song and great reaction, Becks 👏👏👏
Eric said he cried every day for 4 years for every day that Connor was on this earth. The day before the accident Eric said he finally realized what having a child was. He loved Connor and he loved playing with him whenever they saw each other but he just didn't get what a blessing it is to have a child until the day before the accident. He wanted Connor and his mother to come back to Germany with him and live and Connors mother agreed. So It was Connor's 4rth birthday plus him amd mommy were going to fly back to Germany with daddy and on top of that they were going to the carnival. So to say Connor was over the moon the day he died is an understatement.
wow this brings me back in time,,, when this song came out my girl friend lost her mother way to soon then shortly after that i lost her, i have never loved anyone like i loved her ever,,,,xoxo sheila
