Yeah, I remember when that DVD came out, we were so excited to see and hear this outpouring of great music in support of the Montserrat natural disaster. Many songs on it you should see but both the Paul McCarthy medley of Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End from Abbey Road is Killer with Paul, Eric Clapton and Mark Knopfler trading scorching lead guitar. Also earlier in that show Eric goes back to his roots with Same Old Blues, more heavy blues from a master of that genre. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
This was a great concert with huge legends, Paul McCartney and Elton John performed too, you should check out Mark and Eric playing Layla from this concert.
I really enjoyed that. I've seen it dozens of times before and will no doubt watch it dozens of times more. That said, it doesn't beat Mark Knopfler's original version musically for me (with Dire Straits and Sting). The intro to that original with Terry Jones on the drums, was special. Sorry Phil. You're good but Terry Jones was something else. Rebeka, if you want to see Terry Jones doing his thing, the Alchemy Live version of Sultans of Swing. I know you've reacted to a different version already but it was really not as good as this one (in my opinion of course).
The third guitarist visible in the background is Phil Palmer, who toured with Eric Clapton and then became Dire Straits' last rhythm guitarist before Mark decided to go solo.
