I use to listen to this tune when I was a teenager with a life long friend and now he has passed away at 51 from cancer . Thought I would find some Clapton on RU-vid and listen again in his honor . R I P Jim I'll see ya on the other side
To those who are bashing Eric C. If you can remember the 60's with the LSD, cocaine, and booze, be thankful this man is still alive. He in his older years has cleaned up his act and trying to show the younger generation anyone can change. I'm sure people are telling Eric just being on stage is of great importance, and I too see him not preforming as he did in his younger years, but again just remember what he's been through.. there is a God and Eric's life testifies to that...
Eric did many great things with singing and guitar playing. He’s a a real and strong foundation of rock and blues music. In interviews he gives, he also comes out a decent person.

i remember this when it came out. (yea i'am old) lately i've been collecting songs not done by the original singer. i always thought the original was the best... it's just that some are differently better? like this by mr. clampton.......
Fantastic! The sax solo is the difference in this version of the classic music. Kim Carnes one is fantastic too! I'm sharing it in my facebook: oamoresperaquevoceoencontre. Thanks!

Granted a good part of the Grease Soundtrack is Disco/Pop songs of the time, but Born To Hand Jive? That sounded like older rock to me. I used to like Sha Na Na quite a bit and mostly bought the Grease album for those songs. Born To Hand Jive is my favorite song on the album.
OK - JOHNY OTIS Song with kind of VERY OLD ,NEW ORLEANS traditional Rhythm and some AFRICAN ROOTS - Bo Didley used this Rhythm in early '50s and later too and made it popular... Buddy Holy 1959 ...early '60s Animals,Yardbirds,Stones - late '60and early '70s DR.JOHN , Nevill Brothers .. '90s U2, Georg Michael.... !!!! Eric recorded another song by JOHNY OTIS : Crazy Country Hop

here is an easy way to learn it for you.. Slide from a Gmaj Barre chord to the A...thats the main part then play a barre Cmaj, which is under it and slide to the D which is under the A.. then just listen a few times.. its a great song.
I so get it! We ALL planned this from the beginning. ACTIVATED AT JUST THE RIGHT TIME (pieces)😁 You laid the foundation and those before and so on...It's the rookies who get to watch the final product...of this particular phase...laugh and cry together...it just so happens it's my movie that will be the new matrix...or bond...tbd. Trinity blablabla ...I've never seen one in its entirety ...don't have too.
LOL, No, the song is based on a dance called the "Hand Jive" where most of the movements were done with the hands, arms, and upper body. Johnny Otis was the first to record this song. However I find both his and Clapton's versions 'too slow'. Growing up, I was first exposed to the "Grease" version called "Born To Hand Jive", which is MUCH faster and IMHO much better. Speaking of which you can watch the dance to that song here on You Tube. Search for the "Grease" movie (1978) version.

Your memory is better than mine because I can't even recall the song being in the movie. But hey, it's a long time ago and I've since obliterated most of my brain cells, so I'll take your word on it. P.S. Sha Na Na, hm - did they do a TV show?
I would put Buddy Guy against hendrix any day. And if you want to talk about the best guitarist...? I would consider it to be Gilmour from Pink Floyd. If you haven't heard "delicate sound of thunder" I suggest you do and then make your dission...
