@Gordon Payne From what I've read Eric was taught by his brother who's left handed so he learned how to play left handed as well on a right handed guitar.
Gordon Payne well, of course. Hendrix is the god of blues rock guitar, and there’s no way anyone after him could’ve had even close to the impact he had. He exploded the idea of what guitar could be, and guys like Kingfish benefit from what Jimi did with the 6 string. Doesn’t mean Kingfish isn’t rippin’ in his own way.
@Gordon Payne Kingfish's music isn't about who he measures up too. He does have musicians that inspire him, I'm sure, but Kingfish plays from his own soul. I love listening to Hedrix's music, but I also love listening to Kingfish. I don't compare the two, just enjoy them both for the type of blues they are.
Lol, Kingfish would 100% appear in history had he played in 60s-70s..His level is exceptional and mature. His playing carries that blues feel and makes one trip
There just isn’t a genre of music that beats the blues. It’s the only thing that can give you chills, make you laugh, and tear up within the same 30 seconds.
The fact that no one acknowledged Kingfish admiring Samantha, nor Samantha admiring Kingfish, blows my mind. Each in their own lane, yet so respectfully slayin the blues, is beyond me. The blues is the blues!!
She can play so many styles and fit in no matter who she is playing to. She is a natural talent as is Eric Gales. Go look them up together live. Amazing. All the best to you Kingfish as well. You have a great spirit and talent. The world is yours.
@@mikerussell9941 Actually it is made in China. It's not a Fender. It's a Magneto, which is is made in Guangzhou, China. I have two of them and know the owner of the company who comes from France but has his factory here, near where I live.
Seems more logical really. Using your dominant hand as your fretting hand lends to some definite advantages. And yet Im still a righty who plays right handed.
@@experimenteight4550 yeah. I'm a lefty playing right handed. I thought about switching but thought it was an advantage playing the fret with my left. Apparently its not about hands...
Eric Gales, Kingfish, these guys are just sick. They could go on playing forever and you never get bored or get tired of listening. And Samantha Fish. My kind of woman. These artists, always puts a smile on my face when I watch them play.
A guy named Eric Gales is a blues artist who plays around L.A. alot. Now there was a famous jazz guitarist name Eric Gale who recorded with CTI Records and played with Quincy and many other jazz greats. That may be the confusion. Before Eric Gale died, I remember calling B.B.Kings in Universal City to see if it was him playing, but it was the blues guitarist.
Love all three of these artists BUT Man, Kingfish hit the stage like a Megaton nuclear bomb and blew the roof off the place!!! I have to see him live... bucket list
manb4war - I’ll swim the Pacific Ocean to go see that pork chop on stage in Amur’ca ... he is devastating as fried chicken on a Sunday ... nothing but love for the Kingfish ...
We owe that to the master manipulators in the industry, that brain wash the youth with their trash music and tell them they need to buy some gucci shoes for 800 bucks.
@@DaRza17 The music labels only satisfy public demand. Saying the industry manipulates music tastes is like saying the meat industry manipulates your taste buds. Witch is more likely: the labels decided one day to not satisfy the demand of people's music tastes, and to promote "bad" music for no reason that no one liked, Or, people wanted to listen to new, exiting music that they enjoyed, and the labels roled with it like at any other point in modern history Just let people enjoy their music, and stop expecting people to have the same, subjective music tastes as you. And stop carring what other people ware, it not your fucking money. If they want to waste their money on shoes, more power to them, even if they are dumb for wasting thier money.
@@jhonsmith2620 Mainstream music is algorithms and science, not expression. Its music written and designed to sell so that the record companies make money. Thats why they all have virtually the exact same sound. its a scientific balance between familiar sounds that people recognize so people continue to listen to it(we like whats familiar, that's basic human instinct) and original enough that people realize they aren't listening to the exact same song. But I kid you not if you were to play 30 of those songs back to back to back without stopping it would sound like one very long repetitive song. like a club beat almost. I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Its mass produced, and its largest audience is either very young and impressionable, and the primary draw for them is popularity amongs't peers, bright colors, familiar sound, and the attractiveness of the artists. These companies no longer promote unique sound or talent, because its too risky. They market artists that are going to sell stadiums because that's what rakes in the money. they cant risk promoting an artist that might be just a little bit too much on the fence of what people will like. Studios will do this rarely, if they feel like they can manipulate the sound enough to make it popular. Cue Billie Eilish and Lana Del Rey, who both spiked and faded from popularity at record speed. The notion that music has been steadily declining in quality since the 90s is not a "boomer fad" or a bunch of grumbling old men who miss the old ways, even asartists from the nineties, notably Snoop, Eminem, Dr. Dre, among others, point out whats happened to their own genres, its scientifically measurable, and observable by anyone who has an ear for music and does their research. Music IS declining in quality. Everyone is allowed to like what they like, but allowed mass produced slime to be exonerated and become the acceptable norm lowers the bar across the board. Its the same mindset that allows me to buy a canvas, splash 2 buckets of paint on it, and market it as art. Somebody somewhere is going to try to follow the naked emperor and claim I've created a masterpiece.
Just came looking for a Red House cover and got an absolute show. None of them were trying to steal the show from the others and they all had complete mutual respect and admiration for each other.... What a scene
I love this crowd. This is how it should be. Everyone making a good old racket, interacting with the band and having fun! They're all in it together letting off steam. Musicians are loving it. This is how it was in the old days.
@@ZENSIBLE how do you think it was in the old days? You think the blues came up in church? Everybody silent like they were at a funeral? They are makin noise because they feel it!
I've watched this well over 100 times and it never gets old. Respect to Eric and Samantha but Kingfish is a once in a lifetime blues player. Makes you feel like you're listening to OG B.B. King on steroids. Truly incredible
I imagine myself in that audience, either totally ignorant or the only one who isn’t that Eric Gales and Kingfish are on the same stage, sharing the same guitar, and my life is changed. These two are my idols! It’s like you wandered into a bar and BB King was sharing the stage and equipment with Jimi Hendrix.
Now that's what I'm talking about! Brothers playing the blues and taking it with them back home! Big props to Samantha for singing that down-home blues like KoKo Taylor used to do! This white woman has got some soul! Eric Gales and KINGFISH are the masterclasses of modern-day blues guitar players! These brothers are keeping the tradition alive! Gales almost brought tears to my eyes at the beginning of Red House. He did it so good!
WOW... what a great performance from all 3 musicians... with Kingfish just sweeping in and hitting that killer solo like a cherry on top of this sweet creation
Kingfish has really tightened up and improved his style. He seems to have learned that slow works as well as fast. He is so good at such a young age. Imaging what he’ll be like in 5-10 years.
Alex -well, That’s an issue that is for him to decide to cope with. That’s why I never talk about physical characteristics. But he plays the guitar brilliantly and so delicately for a guy with large fingers. I’m just happy to have discovered him last year. He has soul, and I think that sets him apart from the “technicians”.
They are all really great at what they do, but for me it’s KINGFISH .... his Soul is so deep that there isn’t much repetition, and there’s so much emotions exactly what blues is really about.... great job guys
This is music. Not every note is perfect. Not every move is planned. But god damnit itll make you feel some kind of way. Jimi and B.B are smiling down on these fine young players.
Jon hahahhahah i was doing the same thing and my wife was like “whats wrong you ok” hahaha i couldnt help it man the guitar and the vocals by all of em....just had that gritty ass dig deep into your soul feel to em.
I would have given anything to be at this show. I love all three of them independently as artists and it's insane to have them on one stage at a small venue sharing the same damn guitar!
It certainly looks like he's approaching critical mass! (Yeah I know he's been trying to lose weight...but the gag was there!) Hope he succeeds...I want to hear him when I'm older and greyer!
@@collom.o9578 Hexdrix is B minor pentatonic. Standard blues licks and riffs he's playing, but it's all minor. Hendrix was a master of switching between major and minor though. The original of this song is not an example of that switching. But this video is. Kingfish knows where it's AT.
I remember seeing Eric playing this somewhere else, and he looked upward and thanked Jimi for writing the song. Got me kinda misty-eyed. Eric is all class.
I love seeing the dude recording Kingfish on his phone… Not sure if he’s family or friend, but I can literally feel how proud he is.. Been following this young man for several years… Pure genius.. I’m not one to rank musicians , but Eric is uniquely gifted…. and Samantha ……. Top shelf.. She’s gonna be around for a long long time 🙏🏼
Blue history written right here . That was phenomenal. Three unique voices and three unique guitar styles all at the top of their game Swapping guitars love it .
This shows TONE IS IN THE PLAYER! Cause all three of them had they’re own distinct sound from ONE guitar!!! Watching kingfish is like watching Hendrix I swear!!!!
This is what ALL of the major news networks need to play all day every day! Good music can reunite people of all races for sure...All I'm hearing is people having a damn good time in here.
Exactly, some kid told me once I'm getting lessons at the music store, learning to play the blues........I told him son ......ya live the blues ya don't learn them ...
@@45mutant You can learn the progressions and scales, but the ingredient that makes the Blues what it is, is life. Hard times, good times, and everything else in between.
Holy crap - what a hell of a jam ! All super talented all of them. Wish I was there. Everybody from all colours and backgrounds loving the moment together ! Like we should.
Now that song that they did was off the hook give him props to the man who put guitar on the book James Marshall Jimi Hendrix the respect to all people showing props to that man !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Couldn't say it any better. Couldn't have been any better. Must of been a thrill to be able to be there seeing and hearing this. So glad that THE BLUES is alive and well. Much appreciated
Lots of players wouldn't let other greats steal their thunder so to speak. Eric is a great guy. I've seen him bring lots of other talents to the stage before. I think he genuinely enjoys showing off others talents as well as his own.
@@ianz28 There is money in it. Don't let anyone fool you about that. Where you see people there are dollars. I get handed money & usually do 1 or 2 songs.
@@chrispage2782 You're right, I guess. I've learned more about music in the past year, and obviously, anyone can play the same "voicings" as him, albeit rather uncomfortably in some cases... I think what I was trying to say was that he's just a very unique player, technically and musically. I hope that we can agree there.
@Howzernn You should listen to more guitarists. His voicings and playing aren't on a pedestal. There are so many great blues guitar players out there. I mean no disrespect to him either. I'm just a session guitarist and audio engineer. So I've heard so many beasts. I don't have him up there. But I respect his journey, and his grind. But to say anything he's doing is something no one can replicate is just silly lol.
nothin wrong with that, hun. thats why they call it the blues. because when a musician is as truly GIFTED, as this man clearly IS... its almost like they have an actual super power...like a super natural ability to know exactly which notes to play to make tears well up from inside your soul. most people dont even understand how POWERFUL a simple stringed instrument can potentially be in the hands of a person with the talent & ability to use it to its full potential. music is one of the most powerful forces in the entire universe. theres only one thing more powerful...LOVE. 💯 🎶 ❤🎵 💦🔥😪❤👌🎶🎵🎸
This man has the coolest vocal runs, most awesome guitar phrasing and still manages to kill me simply with his awesome chord choices over the blues... What a find!
jkgramps , c’mon now Eric has attained master status. Samantha and Kingfish have a long way to go before they get his level. Gotta learn how to do more than play leads to be a true blues master.
@@sammack1564 I don't disagree. I guess better to say that they've each mastered the blues. I'd be the first to argue that Eric Gales is in a special club - one that (in my view) includes the likes of Jimi and Johnny Winter.
UMMM .....SAMANTHA IS NO WHERE NEAR MASTER STATUS PLAYING OR SINGING. SHE JUST BLEW THE RIGHT PEOPLE. PLEASE DON'T BE FOOLED! SHE'S AVERAGE AT BEST MAYBE A MASTER IN THE BEDROOM. NEXT TOPIC HOW ABOUT THOSE PATRIOTS AGAIN:)
Love them all, but Eric Gales is the genius up there. His sense of rhythm, harmony, guitar styles and history is prodigious, and every measure is inventive.
I heard B. B. King say in an interview that while he had to think about what he was playing, Stevie Ray Vaughn just "spoke" fluently without needing to pause (I'm almost certainly butchering the metaphor, but that was the gist). Since then it's something I keep in mind when watching musicians and Eric Gales is definitely in the category of not needing to stop and think. He just plays and it's awesome.
I came here expecting to see some amazing guitar playing from eric gales, and I did. But what I did not expect to see was the most amazing guitar playing from two unexpected and unheard of guitar players and be completely blown away by both of them. This was a real treat
Wow that was amazing kingfish solo just smashed it and played with total feel, I just saw kingfish in Melbourne April22 at the corner hotel melbourne, he was brilliant……
