Eric Karlsson Bouldering - An Inspiration 

Heyo RU-vid-squad! I know I said I'd post a video this week where I established some benchmarks, but I shot this video of Eric and Cordelia two days ago and got really stoked on editing it so I decided to let this one come first. I hope you enjoy it!

It's actually fucking wild to me that Eric posted a video everyday for a year. I didn't know he was working full time to. I think that has got to be one of the hardest, most impressive things every accomplished in the small RU-vid climbing community. I don't think everyone understand how much work goes into each video, it takes a lot of time edit: outdoor climbing would be hype, board training would also be cool imo!

Don't know what I'm more thankful for: Emil shooting such a lovely video full of respect about a very special person or Eric himself, who's always inspiring as hell, smiling so infectiously and pushing through no matter what. I was recently diagnosed with my own illness, and although I began climbing after my diagnosis as a way to improve my body and stay fit, I find Eric's story to be so hugely inspirational. I teared up watching his video about what had happened to him, and my heart broke for the difficulties I knew he would face in the future. Seeing him succeeding and continuing to fight for his dreams brings a smile to my face with every video I watch and continues to remind me that illnesses don't define us and we are more than the sum of our parts. Emil and Eric, I don't know if you guys will read this but thank you. Sometimes your videos mean more than you know.

I think the coolest thing about this video is Eric’s “training” attitude. Things we take for granted, like jumping or climbing to the top of the wall, he’s willing to see as a challenge and progressively train towards them. It’s so humble and at the same time crazy brave.

Dude... Eric is a beast. If what happened to him happened to me i'd probably just lay in bed feeling sorry for myself all day. He's out there putting in work. A true inspiration. Hope it gets easier for him

Eric might legitimately be one of the most impressive people I know of, he's a fucking brick wall of determination. Don't think a sledgehammer to the skull could stop this guy from doing something.

Eric has a great combo of tenacity and mental flexibility. Sometimes the way to not give up on long term progress is to give up on certain things short term and not have resentment/negativity. The best way to stay motivated is to have fun.

Emil, tell Eric to try this for his nausea, put an earplug or noise-canceling AirPod (create a seal) in ONE ear and wait two minutes. Reduces nausea by 75%+.

I really enjoy seeing this kind of trying really hard on boulders that you can't just flash but have to progress through, figure out move by move.

Akalla is like 1 grade harder than Solna. And I have the feeling that the route setter there is 2,20 m tall. Great effort Eric!

Yessss!! Pumped to see Eric climbing and making big gains. All of you guys are a huge inspiration for me... I got into climbing almost 2 years ago and it has totally changed my life. When I was first starting, I was really nervous since I’ve never really been an athletic person, and climbing seemed totally out of the norm for me. I think binging Eric’s channel really kept me hooked and interested in climbing in the beginning. I’ve lost 50 pounds, and I’m the healthiest I’ve ever been. Just sent my first 5.11 last week, and my first V5 a few days ago. Watching your channels has given me endless amounts of stoke and helped introduce me to the thing that makes me happiest. Thank you for what you do. And keep killin it Eric!! You’re a fuckin badass 🤙

Just Cordelia's bit with say my name....pure gold! Also so cool to see Eric climbing and commiting to hard moves and projects Edit: Woooow! Nice effort Eric! On content - just film what you like and will be again like I said pure gold :) This was just what a pure bouldering session with friends look like. I'd love some outdoor stuff, but board sessions are cool as well

my personal favorite is to watch indoor bouldering like this, outdoor bouldering doesn't really appeal to me but i'd probably watch no matter what it was about, you're a cool dude and sofar i haven't disliked a single one of your videos

That orange one is such a good example of how bouldering works. Like they basically had the correct beta from the beginning, but it didnt work at all until they got their feet just a bit further to the left of the foothold

Outstanding! Thanks for getting this out! I know it can't be done like this every week, but damn is it fun to be invested in the rest of the story when something like this pops on my feed! Regarding the next videos. I think it's hard to imagine what Eric is going through and how hard he still is pushing, and therefore I'd really like to see more videos of him (no matter, if he is actually progressing with grades or not; I think 6C is pretty respectable on its own (even when not having a special condition))

A message to Eric: I had my own problems with balance-tinnitus for a while and I know how awful it is. BUT it eventually went away after 8 months to a year without a treatment. In my case I know things were always getting worse because the balance problem made me really anxious, and I wasn't sleeping properly because of the tinnitus. So, a good old vicious circle was maximizing the symptoms. So take care, don't stress.
