Eric, I'll pose the 64,000 dollar question: how on earth do you manage the dust build up on all of those models!? LOL. Just an amazing collection. This video obviously took quite a bit of time to create, my utmost plaudits to you. Very much enjoyed watching this.
you really have an awesome train set lot of different trains... I'm in the Train club in my train layout at home it's bigger than the Railroad Club and the people are kind of jealous so I don't talk about my train layout... I'm like you I've been collecting train since I was a kid and I'm 52 years old my first Lionel train set with back in 68 I was only four years old and yes I still have it not really into O scale even though I have some your collection is absolutely beautiful... I do have quite a bit and scale... more mainstream is a HO trains... I have around a hundred train engines I buy a little at a time when I can....
IM SO JEALOUS!!!! But in a good way! I love that you enjoy your trains like you do, I have conventional locos (I like yours better) and it’s gonna be hard to make my layout how I want it so I’m gonna save for a lionel legacy engine. Any suggestions for the loco?
Coby The Q what I did is save for a lionchief plus locomotive. They are kind of in between legacy and conventional. Edit: I have legacy now, I would buy one of the new legacy sd40-2s, they have kinematic pilots, roadname specific details and come in quite a few nice roadnames.
@@oxolotleman7226 I find that TMCC is more my taste. I plan on retrofitting all my postwar diesels with TMCC, even my K-Line MP15 which I'm modding to look more detailed
Hi Eric! I'm an ho modeler, but i love your video and collection. Thanks to you, O is my second favorite scale. In fact, i was planning to get the lionchief super chief but sure to lack of space i could not. Still I love your videos and i will look forward to your future videos😊👍👍
I must say, I've been a sub for a while and I really enjoy your longer videos. The episode where you tour the layout top and underneath and this one I truly do kick back and relax. Better than a movie if you ask me! Thanks for posting it. Keep up the great work. Dave
Being from the Northwest couldn't help but notice no Great Northern, Northern Pacific or SP&S. But they are Fallen Flags. Love the videos Eric, thank you.
Does anyone know why O scale and HO scale steam engines almost always have the valve gear in neutral? Also, can you physically move the valve gear out off neutral?
(from Canada) Hello Eric:Found your video very informative, the different models in your collection, I am not a collector of "O" gauge as you are, but I have a layout in my basement in 4 rooms in "N" scale. Now it has taken me more 20 years to get the engines in my collection.I did a count of my engines but gave up when I reached 600. I tried the same on my rolling stock and there also gave up counting at 1,000 cars. My layout has been on the shown to the public and to members from all over the world, these people were from the show that was in Toronto, Ontario in Canada. I just thought that you might like to make a comparison to a much smaller gauge. I have watched all your videos up to this one (episode 53) and now I am going to carry on watching the rest. Great videos Eric, keep your videos coming, I am looking forward to viewing the rest of your videos.
The most rare train I have in my collection is the Lionel N&W 0-8-0 6-38047 from 2002. I actually won mine in a bid on ebay for about $180 in good condition (only thing that needed fixing was the front headlight), retail price is around $700. So basically that was the biggest "steal" for me in this hobby so far since I got it for about 4 times less than the retail price (700/180 = 3.8 but I rounded it up to 4). The most valuable train I have in my collection is the Lionel 783 Hudson from 1984. My dad picked this Hudson up for Christmas for about $500 or so dollars. The E unit had to get fixed since it was shot but on eBay this puppy goes as high as $1,250.
Awesome episode, or should I say "movie" Eric. I love the fact that you took the time to explain about each engine, and tell stories behind some of them too. The almost 2 hours went by so fast, as I watched this. I have to wonder how many hours it must have taken you to record and edit this episode... WOW! Thanks for all your hard work in support of our hobby Eric!!!
+CheeserockFarmboy Thanks. I started filming it in late June and finished it in mid-October. It took a long time to put together. Granted, I wasn't working on it every minute of every day.
Eric you should do a video of all of the engines that you reviewed from before you started BFIMO and talk about you favorite feature(s) on those engines
excellent collection bud! CSX Atlas switcher #1114 works in Nashville and is now in YN3 or YN3b paint- so you have a YN2 scheme and now a piece of history- excellent video and collection bud!
Eric I just bought the "K-line" Lionel CSX sd70mac #722, and I got the conventional version but I'm having problems with cruise control, any suggestions?
Don't worry about me being jealous about YOU, Eric. As an N scaler, it is natural for us to be jealous of the HO scalers because of the sheer amount of rolling stock options they have.
Have to say Eric your collection is amazing I do get a bit shocked at the price but that's mostly because I model ho scale but if you say it's a bargain then nice
Wow I saw this Yes I got jealous not gonna lie But I wont get hateful This is one of the best collections I've ever seen I would love to have that much stuff
You should have called it "Eric's Trains - The Epic Film"! Congratulations on finishing such a great project and thank you for taking the time that you do to share your collection with us. It was great spending the evening looking through your collection.
Great video. I admire your enthusiasm for the hobby. And I am envious of your ceaseless passion for model trains. Looking forward to the total rolling stock episode!
Great video, thanks for taking the time to make it. I do want to say one thing. It sounds like you have about twelve or thirteen top five favorite engines.......Thanks again
Man Eric that Pennsylvania train that's your son's bring back memories of my first train which was that exact on but my has a fried proto 2 board and needs a new one but it brings back old memories so thanks for showing it. 😃
fantastic video Eric ... Congratulations! I'm your fan too .. I and my friends, here from Brazil, talked a lot about your videos and on their fantastic collection .. Also pay close attention when you make videos teaching and giving tips ... So you also have fans here in Brazil ... I'm sorry for my english!
hey eric great video thanks for the time and effort you put into the hobby and for sharing it with everyone but i do have a question for you if you had to pick between lionel or mth which way would you go?
eric your videos are awsome i learn alot from your videos as in how somethings work on a certant locomotive. keep up the good work and happy railroading.
Thankyou Eric for a great tour of you train collection..... Yes I did fall asleep during the tour but I have now Watched it a total of three times.. Regards ...Frank from Oz.....
Great video Eric! I really enjoyed you showing your beautiful collection!I don't have a layout but this video inspired me to start displaying my engines.Keep up the good work!
Fantastic video, Eric. My highest compliments to you on the time, effort, dedication and love it requires to build, maintain and expand a very impressive collection. Thank you for sharing your passion of such an amazing hobby.
A few possible words of wisdom at 1:48:00, You may want to look at Broadway Limited, Athearn, and Proto 2000. MTH has good detail and power, but I have to say their HO scale boards are very weak. To put it bluntly, a fellow club member of mine has a triplex that has spent 3x as much time with MTH than running. It's blown up it's proto sound 3 and motors 3 times.
Awesome video Eric!I'm not jealous of you like when I was younger, but you inspired me to collect my own O Gauge trains. For the Silver Bullet Train, my mother bought me that same train for my birthday in 2008 when I was in 7th grade and I almost got in trouble for saying the train's name by my one teacher before I got the set.
My only train that is close in scale to HO is that at a train show in Missouri, I picked up a 1957 Triang-Hornby Jinty for $10. Gauge is of course OO scale and the guy said it still runs. For $2, I got a piece of Bachmann Nickel Silver track so the engine can rest on it instead of the wheels resting on a table. Who knew that you can find British made toy trains here in the United States?
I am planning to buy a Lionchief Plus A5. I don’t know which variant I want, but it’s a bit pricy on eBay ($200-$400). I think it’s a cute 0-4-0, and would be a great addition to my little layout.
