♠ The word legend is thrown around too frivolously, but with 8 WSOP bracelets and almost $38million in lifetime earnings... Erik Seidel definitely deserves that title.

I've always thought Seidel was a natural genius. Many don't know this about him, but in the 80s he was considered one of the best backgammon players in the US. He knows how to master any strategy game, and he knows how to keep up with the times as games evolve. To me that's the mark of a true genius. To hear him say he thought he was the dumbest kid in his class growing up is kinda mind blowing. Maybe that's a big lesson to the rest of us: we might have boundless potential and we don't even know it.

@PhilBot4OOO

There's a fine line. Is it gambling if you consistently show return? Are financial investments gambling if you never see a return? Almost everything in life has an element of risk Vs reward. If you can study and research educate yourself to the extent that you can expect a long term return in a game such as poker is it really gambling or just smart investing? To me gambling is more so the category of risk where you have a negative expected value. I've casino games or sports betting. Arguably you can be smart enough to sports bet profitably too but sure everything is open to debate really! The term "gambler" has a very negative connotation and is used to describe someone without discipline, it's understandable why someone who has become successful in poker through years of disciplined study and effort does not want to be in this category!
@sudstahgaming

It's a skill game with a gamble element it's not gambling were you are at a disadvantage like all the other casino games.
