I've always had an affinity to horses. But never had the chance to own one. I don't know how ride a horse. On two occasion I slide off the horse because I never learn to ride. Yet, my love and respect in me is deep for the horse. I once had a chance to see horses in the wild in Northern Nevada. I just love see them run wild.
StrategikPrepr702 I can actually prove what I'm saying is the truth and don't you dare put me together with those other people who claim to be who they so be called but aren't actually who they are
Leila Witherspoon lol okay I belive you, at least you ain't one of these whites on here claiming a tribe. Many people are getting tired of these $5 dollar indians.
This is so wonderful and uplifting - so much of their history is tragic. I am a bit NA - not sure what tribe and I am very proud of that little bit. Thank you for doing this.
I think when they say “the horse has always been here” tribal chiefs weren’t sitting around analyzing wonky carbon dating of a few horse bones, the horse was seen by explorers to the Americas years before Columbus
Is Erika the Host of this story of Indian descent? She is so beautiful and there's something sooo mesmerizing about the way she talks and how she tells this story.
I kinda have to laugh at how people talk when referring to natives. They Talk about how we are not gone, but act like they are giving a eulogy. Its important to speak of any culture with respect, however we are not gone we are not dead our culture, kids, traditions new and old, homes, lifestyle is still very much alive. I laugh anyway...(speak somberly) people (pause look down) talk of native people (pause, bow head) like we are dead..... How's them 1491 guys do!?!!??! Honor song!
Erika Larsen, you are a treasure. I adore the projects you undertake and the folx you spotlight. This is a living, thriving culture IN SPITE OF the colonial devastation they've experienced. You bring their words to us and it is appreciated3
Sometimes I think some are raised or broke the wrong way. And there is a kind safe way to break the wild without breaking a spirit. In horse or human any animal trust love and acceptance union of these three is success
I think I am one of the very very few people that fell like this is not my country. I am 3rd generation born here but my family is from Ireland and Italy. So as far as I am concerned. I might be American but I am a guest. And this that will probably piss of so many people.
I was born in the U.S - with German heritage. I got sent to the principle's office in H.S. for refusing to pledge to the flag out of protest to the way this 'land of the free' used genocide against native people's.
What I want to know is this..how long were the natives here, did any have horses before they died out, and did any of those bloodlines survive? In other words, did any tribes preserve the original horse?
American horses came from Spanish settlers, they are not native animals. The native tribes have not died out, neither have the mustangs. Although many of them are inbred or overmanaged by blm and the like.
Native americans had a practice that each person was raised and given the opportunity to succeed and be a good member and productive member of their society. Each given jobs and task based on their needs and capabilities, in comparison to today's age you most can't even afford a mode of transportation or vehicle, however back then every person had their own horses, jobs, houses or huts, were knowledgeable about self-sustainability. I'd say we disconnected from the true purpose and task given to us in which is to provide security for the people, in whatever means is necessary. Capitalism has ruined so many things in this country it's such a shame
All of the cultural subjects you list are felt the same way by Whites and Latino's as well. And in all cultures there are Horse People and People with Horses. The two are not synonymous. Happy Trails.
She was wrong in that the horse did not come to America by the murderous Columbus. Instead they came with the Spanish in the 16th century via Cortes, Coronado and De Soto. And yes, do not forget about the Lakota.
They are the people of the bow and the tomahawk, they walked everywhere until the horses returned to America, the mongols were the people of the horse.
@@jacco4418 Not true. Horses were extinct on the North American continent before Columbus arrived. Plus, the settlers brought horses from Europe. Please think things through before you speak.
Its a nice video but the part about wild horses I feel she should of looked in to that more herself. Wild horses are the product and a big part of native Americans. As of today they are being slaughtered. Its lovely to keep culture but at the same time gain the knowledge of proper care.
sugar cookiesnoms do you know there being slaughter because there is actually no document from Congress or any were stating they can be slaughtered you should probably read the bml information about these horses and how they are treated instead of spreading fake news
please don't forget the love the People have for ALL horsebeings and they probably are involved with responding to the situation. this doc was about wider knowledge for everyone. thank you for reading this.
I have a theory that the Native Americans were originally from Arabia. Look at a map of Pangea and see how the continents used to fit together. See where northern Africa fits into the US? Now compare how the Arabs 'trill' just like the Native American. The western tribes were nomadic, living in tipis ( tents for Arabs) and the fringes on the garments. Horse culture for both. What do you think?
Native Americans didn't originate in Arabia They originate in siberia and crossed the bering land bridge into Alaska 70,000 years ago with a possible second wave arriving 13,000 years ago. Native Americans share very similar DNA to that of east asians
Explain to me, where is the understanding and relationship in attacking a green horse, saddling him, and jumping on his back and ripping his face off with a metal shank bit? What does that horse learn? How is that being a friend to that horse? This woman obviously has no clue about horses and horsemanship.
there are a lot of cultures that do that, its tradition, doesnt mean that is good, its just being done because they made it in the past, i think they could make it healthier for the animals or delete that thing but well im not a part of their culture, i have mine and in mine they do kinda the same its called ``rapa das bestas´´ and well.. i´ve been trying to stop it
This is not respect of animals. This is a cultural practice of animal abuse. These people need education about love, respect, and natural horsemanship. Cannot be allowed to hide under the excuse of tribal heritage.
How does one fall in love with another person? For some, it is instantaneous. (Say, 200 years.) For others, it takes time to understand and therefore love another. (Say, a thousand years.) Sadly, for some love of another never happens.
Thomina Duncanson you realize that part of why horses went extinct in the Americas in the first place was because indigenous Americans hunted them to extinction right?? Is that love? Lmao💀😂
Brendan Morin -I am SO impressed by your age! To think that we have an EYEWITNESS to that distant era amongst us! There are so many questions that paleontologists must want to ask you! P.S.-bone count in a site does not equate to extinction of a species. The plains bison was hunted too, and it was not until the Sharps buffalo rifle that near-extinction of the plains bison occurred-motivated by the desire to eliminate the plains Native American tribes.
I hate it too. Luckily it seems like they only do it at the races, not every day. And +Agent L 13, just because they don't like whipping doesn't mean they don't know anything about horse riding. You don't need to whip the poor animals if you know how to ride and are experienced. Hurting them shows (Not in the case of the video, I mean in general) that you don't have a clue what you're doing
"...then we draw the blood out of the heart... why did we do that?" That's all you need to know about the credibility of this individual. She drank blood from the heart of a freshly-killed animal without first asking why it ought to be done at all. This is blind worship of the "noble savage" myth. It's uncritical adoration. Avoid these people.
big shame for the way traditionally and today horses are abused by humans. these are not ppl of the horse. they are drugeed by blood drinking and extreem violence to all animals around them. im a horsewoman all my life since childhood and can say for sure - all this is at the movie is a lot about men and humen culture as a predator, it has nothing of the horse or for the horse.
terrahorsesIsrael And who the hell are you to say we are not ppl of the horse? We love and respect our horses. They are more than just horses to us. They are our relatives, protectors, healers. We have songs and dances just for them. I doubt u honor them in such away. If u have no Knowledge to how natives see horses. Then you need to take several seats.
the horses would rather have no abuse and more songs and dances. i am the person who is telling you that. being native doesnt make you being chosen. cut the abuse.
are you white ?? because i noticed all the know it all white chicks come out to any you tube thread that has horses and minority ......and they all cry abuse...sometimes for SAME THINGS white people do too , but they almost NEVER show up there crying abuse ...I'll give you an example ...... a Mexican charro making his horse do the Piafe and then white people doing the same in dressage ........guess who they all go and complain about ?
ITS NO RELEVANCE. IM SPANISH/ QAVQAZZ IF YOU MUST KNOW. AND I WORK WITH HORSES 40 YEARS TRAUN AND RIDE AND TEACH. PLS QUIT BEING SO MIND BLOCKED? CRUELTY AND ABUSE ARE CALLED UPPON YOU. CHANGE!!! I WILL NOT ANSWER UN THIS THREAD ANY LONGER, GO MAKE A DIFFERENCE USING YOUR POTTENTIAL, FOR GODS SAKE.
