Non lo conoscevo, c'è da dire che vista la padronanza che aveva in questo stile allora già "passée" non mi stupisce che sia voluto rimanere fuori dal suo tempo...al giorno d'oggi suona più fresca questa roba che altri autori suoi coevi e "aggiornati"
Sì, è piuttosto dimenticato forse anche per questioni stilistiche. Questo brano è particolarmente "classicheggiante", ci sono opere con un po' più di arditezze cromatiche e ritmiche, ma nel complesso la sua musica non è mai innovativa. Nonostante ciò, come si nota anche in questa Se, aveva un'ottima padronanza e della melodia, che fa sì che le sue opere, anche se linguisticamente datate, non sembrino mai davvero ingenue.
His "excellent command of melody" is probably attributed to the fact that he was an opera composer, having left behind more than a dozen works in that genre.
