Oh my gosh, I am a huge Jim Varney fan! My dad was, as well, and could do a spot-on imitation of the Ernest character. He always dressed (and acted) as Ernest P. Worl at Halloween every year. I really miss that and your post has brought back some sweet memories. I might have to attend this event next year!

I grew up watching all of Jim Varney's movies and I adore him as an actor! Definitely miss him. Thank you for sharing. Adding another thing to my bucket list haha
I like the Ernest movies, don´t know how popular they are over here in Europe, but I watched a lot of them over the years and they were fun to watch, the actor seemed like he was a good guy. Lovely place, a lot of green and water, reminds me of my hometown, I grew up near a river and small lakes.

Jim Varney was a National Hero who was loved by all. I have a brother that still to this day says " know what I mean Vern" . Love It. Father/Daughter time was refreshing to see, all else fades, but Family is forever. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Cades Cove was very cool. We always stopped at some friends house in Knoxville and then spent a day in Cades Cove. I remember one time we went to see the baseball team the Knoxville KJays?
@madtownangler my in-laws love Cades cove my mom in law got chased by a bear there once. He hubs was in the car filming. It was funny because she survived. It could have been bad if the bear had really chased her more than 10 feet. 😆
This video triggered a bunch of memories for me. I went to a one week summer camp at Montgomery Bell in 1986 and it doesn't look like much has changed in the camp area. But I never realized the movie was filmed there. Thanks for the information about this event. I will have to write myself a reminder to try to attend it next year. Also, I would have never guessed that we are the same age as you look at least a decade younger than me.
@dadbudgetadventures Ernest goals in life were simple. Goals that were actually worth striving for and usually to be of help to others. Success in achieving those goals would make us a better country today.
