This is a top-notch, evolutionary guitar. I like the shape and the looks because it doesn't look like any other guitar. It gets points for uniqueness, and also it's like a sports car. It's sleek, sexy, and efficient. Whatever parts that are not useful are taken out. The only thing I noticed is that because of it's smaller size, if you're a big guy, it'll make the guitar look a bit dinky. I noticed that it looks like a toy when JP is playing it. This guitar has a personality to it's shape, which is not for everybody.
Just bought one. It is truely one of the best guitars I own. Love it! Thanks for the great demo. I wish Ernie ball included a switch/knob assignment manual with the guitar.
Cool review Cooper! The Majesty does look like an awesome guitar to play! The ease of access to higher frets and the light weight definitely interest me. I was kind of iffy about its looks initially but they are growing on me. Can't wait to try one!
ThiagoCamposOfficial Gracias, Thiago. Es una guitarra muy expresiva y sin duda la recomiendo para cualquier músico serio. Obviamente respondes a esa descripción!
SoloAWeek Haha! English is fine dude.. I lived a long time in Canada and have been practicing enough since then. While I do understand a bit of Spanish, I cannot speak it at all.
I can assure most that even for me the look turned me off, but when I picked up and played it, it was truly unbelievable, tone comfort build its all just comes together as a gorgeous instrument.
Crap! I thought I wanted one before, NOW I REALLY want one! Great demo vid, thanks for taking the time. I have the JPX6 and LOVE it, now that I have gotten into symphonic metal, I need a 7 string, so that is going to be my excuse to pick up one of these bad boys. Now I know where to buy one of these, but where can I get those skilz?! LOL
Dear Mr.Carter: I have purchased all your videos on Fractal and follow your playing closely. You are truly an inspiration and virtuoso. How does this version compare to the Artisan? Thank you for all that you share. Kudos Maestro!
At first I didn't like this guitar because the body was weird but at one of Petrucci's clinics I got to handle one and I have to tell you I fell in love with it. Those who say the guitar is ugly need to look past the shape and try it for themselves. Trust me I felt the same way but now I look at the body as something different that no other guitar has. I would never say anything is perfect in this world but this guitar comes so close to it and they are going to improve off it which makes me excited to see what musicman does next.
I finally got a chance to use this guitar the other day and let me just say if you've never tried one, you really should. Not saying that it's good or bad but it makes you feel like you're holding "guitar 2.0" per say. It feels unlike any other guitar especially due to the through neck's lack of any sort of heel. It actually feels weirdly unnatural because your hand is looking for the heel that doesn't exist. And yeah it's super light like lighter than a Gibson SG light. It's about that thin too. I mean the neck feels as Ibanez as ever and the pickups are fairly sterile but that's par for the course with Petrucci sigs. I just really love that John finally has a guitar that feels more "signature" than any other guitar I've ever felt.
Great review, I think they should sell these guitars with the option of just being a straight forward MAG pickups only without the Piezo, boost, and etc When it comes to gear most are loaded with features that will never get used
Cooper, I love your work! Please inform the others on your planet that the extra long fingers and fret board mastery is a dead set give away! You are among us ;-)

Hi Cooper! Awesome review as well as your others...! Will you make a review of the Artisan 6 & 7...?
Just found this video from you. I bought this guitar quite a while ago love it. Wondered if you keep the 10 gauge strings or change to 9s? Awesome either way.
Cooper, I love all your vids demos and playing. You are really good at what you do and progressive companies like Fractal and EBMM are wise utilizing your talents. BTW, I believe the best playing I have witnessed from you online is on this guitar. Don't get me wrong, I love the JP15 as well but you just seem so much more fluid on the Majesty. It truly is a special guitar.
Im really curious about the neck thickness of the guitar , and its fingerboard. Is it thicker than ibanez rg series or the jems? I fell in love with the colour of the guitar🙏🙏🙏
tomorrow I'm ordering a Majesty and a Les Paul Traditional. I think I'm more excited about getting in the Music Man Petrucci. I have played many Les Paul guitars but never anything near this version of Petrucci's signature guitars.
I got one. Unfortunately I had to send ti back to the dealer. There was no sustain what so ever. I think there is an issue in the electronics. Hopefully it will be fixed and shipped back soon. Just playing it dry felt really nice.
One question: how easy is it to tune when a string is broken? I've had nightmares with other tremolos, culminating in intonation issues. I've read things like "Tune this string slightly sharp, add another string, tune it and use the fine tuners etc etc" and the next thing I know I've spent an hour trying to tune the guitar and have gotten nowhere.
When you did the Pick-up checkings, I felt in love with the tune. As I am a Drummer in a Band, can I make use of it? It's so lovely to form the vocals on that. Greetings from Germany.
Great video, awesome playing, and sweet tone! Does anyone know if the bridge requires an adjustment (like Floyd Roses) after you switch tunings? Example: Drop-D?
Just a quick question. How does the floating bridge on the Petrucci models work, as far as tuning goes? I recently ordered one and plan on dropping it to Drop B, so I was just wondering if I would have to tune this the same as I would a Floyd Rose?
Cooper: This is Gamechanger from the FAS forums. I own several EBMM guitars. The Gamechanger is an amazing guitar and the Majesty uses some of its switching technology. I really want one of these but how do the pickups compare to the old pickups that the JP6 had ? The video is hard to tell with the compressed sound of RU-vid. By the way awesome job on your creative live class.
ReedViews The Illuminators are incredibly expressive even with their high output. Each position offers something truly unique and usable, and they pair perfectly with the new mahogany in the Majesty. Highly recommended.
Probably a little late for comments here; I just ordered my Arctic Dream and will have to wait 7 months, maybe more, for it to be delivered. I'm sure it will be worth the wait. My only negative comment concerning the design is the Fenderesque head; I don't like it on Fenders and don't like it on Musicman guitars either. It's a pity John P didn't come up with something a little more radical.
Anyone own JP 2013 and Majesty? What are your thoughts? I ordered a Majesty and I am wondering whether I made the right choice. Maybe JP 2013 is better?
You can't simply say that neck-thru is better than bolt on etc. It all comes down to preferences! They all have pro and cons. A bolt on will give you snappier tone and is much easier to work on for a luthier. My personal opinion is that the original shape is a lot more pleasing on the eye. But I'm sure that a lot of people love this guitar! To me the original shape looks a lot more "vintage" and will work in all kind of settings (music genres) on stage. I wouldn't bring the Majesty on a blues gig. I would love to own one though! ;)
I'm surprised he went with a floating tremelo. A semi locking trem, which were made by Wilkinson would have been better. I'm surprised all modern guitars don't have them. I have one on my Carvin and it's awesome. When the bar is at rest the bridge is fixed, and when the bar is rotated it becomes floating. There was a patent hold on it, but that should have ended in '03. Also surprised he went with a painted neck, but maybe that was to keep costs down..
Wow Awesome i honestly was 100% it was a john petrucci song, you stylistically, tonally, and musically nailed everything he's about i love all the vids! Keep up the awesome work :)
My biggest gripe with this guitar is that I wish it was unbranded so I don't have to look like a Petrucci fanboy whenever I use it on stage or in a video (even though I am one).
what is your signal chain? What is giving you the sustain? i know the pickups and the guitar help but what is the FRACTAL setting on this, if you don't mind me asking?
djentlemanly...hmmm. I will have to look that one up, learning, learning. I have the line 6 1500 amp that has a load of settings that I am learning, and tweaking, some success and some not, lol, and while FX is on a whole another level of great, I really, really, liked your tone and was curious. I appreciate the response, and all of your vids are kick ass! Thanks for sharing!
the one I got the nut was cut to deep on the high E string they told me it would take 35 day to get the new guitar fix I told music man you had your chance
Hey I want to ask you about the tuning issues I heard this guitar has. It gets out of tune very easily when using its trem. Is there truth to these rumors?
TKBauer523 Np man, I wasn't mad, just sad. cause people really do ask questions like this without watching, and cooper puts alot of work into these videos. so it's kind of a slap in his or any youtubers face, when you don't watch the video, but ask a question that's been answered already...
Great demo. Fantastic playing. Only one criticism..... which is at the end when say that anyone could own one? It's $3500 !! So, only rich people could.
jasfiona well.. it's not for casuals. If music is your job, your career, then it is an investment worth making. If one is casual, or even an advanced player, it might not be worth it for you if it's not something that's bringing money in for you It's like having those 1000 dollar earphones. No sense for a normal person owning them, but for a sound designer or music producer, absolutely.
jasfiona Here in Brazil it is something like R$20.000,00 (something like U$7000) or 30 times minimum wage. So yeah, never gonna even be on the same street as one...LOL
