Yeah, yet many listerners, me included, didn't hear his speech and it allows Ernie to spread his message to a larger audience. Good for Ernie, he's class personified.
swiftslick he definitely cant get over jordan. no matter who is the guest. he always makes it about michael jordan. for example see his interview with 5x nba champ, 9x nba finalist, 3x mvp, ncaa champ, and gold medal winner magic johnson. dan asked him out of the blue, it was even relevant to the interview, "do you consider yourself to be in the same class as michael jordan?" you could hear in magic's voice. he was insulted by the question.
Sting Rey -- But that is the general purpose of sports media in the first place... to build up the hype. Just like Brian Windhorst hero worships Lebron win or los. There will always be focus on players of a certain generation for media personalities/hosts. Jordan was the best player in Bulls history and was the player that changed the way we see the NBA now. But is he greater than Kareem Abdul Jabbar or Bill Russell for that matter? Some argue yes, some argue no. It's only Dan's opinion and frankly, this is his show. You always have the option of listening to Colin Cowherd (Ugh). For example, there are plenty of people touting Steph Curry as the "best shooter in NBA history" right now. Which somewhat is discounting the careers of Reggie Miller, Chris Mullin, Alex English, George Gervin, Glen Rice, Mitch Richmond, Ray Allen, and Peja Stojakovic among many others. While I believe Steph is the best shooter at the moment, I think that title still belongs in a tie between Miller, Mullin, and English. But again, that's just my opinion, which rarely counts for much.
Ernie seems like a great guy and is an excellent studio host. But I feel bad for him when he works on the MLB playoffs. He's just not a good play-by play man.
