Maaan. This album came out my sophomore year of college. I was in a really rough place after my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer -- given only a few weeks to live. I mustered up my strength everyday just to dress and make it to class. After class one day, I went to the library to finish a paper. It was the third story with a big glass window. I remember putting the new album on RU-vid on my computer, watching the rain come down on the outside window, and just feeling absolutely blown away. The sorrowful, wandering vocal melodies, intricate guitar tapping and melody, crushing and bass-heavy guitar tuning, scream howling like the strongest wind. All of it combined to form this perfect symphony of emotional release and acceptance. Powerful. Powerful. Powerful.
Having had the pleasure of mixing Erra live w/ both Ian and Garrison. I can type this with a huge grin on my face. I am excited, and beyond proud of the way Erra always continues to pursue something new. JT Cavey is without a doubt another amazing vocalist that Erra can add to its ranks. His live vocals are amazing. I cannot wait to hear the rest of the record. Add another amazing album to one of the most overlooked discographies in the genre. Well played Erra.
OMG OMG. ERRA is seriously my favorite progressive metal band. I've actually never been so hyped for a full length release. Augment is my most played album on my player. With Rebirth at 800+ plays haha. #fanboy The album art looks dope too. I really hope it doesn't let me down! Good to hear some new material.
+Hansol Hey Hansol it's me again how you doing?:P I actually happened to upload a cover of Seven by them and then this is released straight after, coincidence?? What do you think of the new song? I've listened to it at least 10 times and it's starting to grow on me but I dunno, kind of disappointed, especially by the weaker vocals.
+JYRGN 33 Awesome. I think it's different, but it's also starting to grow on me. Not on some of the levels of songs from Augment like "Rebirth" or "Hybrid Earth", but I hate to judge a single before the whole album is out. So we'll see :)
Agreed. Met a coworker who was into djent and metal and we got to talking about the greats like Angel Vivaldi, Manuel Gardner-Fernandes, Tim Henson and he mentioned these guys and was like dude if you like Architects and (as a huge fan of Josh Middleton and Sylosis) ERRA blew mind! That level. What we who play all aspire to be.
i accitentally found this band by searching another band, and i typed something wrong. the band i was searching was from a completely different genre if im remembering correctly. it was just pure luck. and they are one of my favorite bands now
It's fucked up to think it's been 5 years since I first heard this song. I was half-asleep in my economics class in my senior year of High School, and this gave me a really short, yet intense dream. God, I remember how hyped I was for this album, and it even ended up topping Augment for me. Ah man, to go back and experience all that again.
@@Sattylites This is an extremely belated comment, but thank you my friend. Erra is still one of my favorite bands to this day. Also see you play Elden Ring. I just started playing it a couple months back thanks to the DLC hype, and I find music like this is perfect for background tracks.
+Vincent Granath you sound so snobby in that fucking comment, we get it augments amazing, but this isn't augment its not supposed to sound like augment. If you want something that's like augment GO LISTEN TO AUGMENT. "Your expectations were not that high" you expected them to drop something like augment again? Lol Moments of Clarity should've told you that wasn't gonna happen.
+horizoniki how fucking high are your expectations for a metal band? No metalcore or prog core band sounds like Erra at all, this is still unique and good. It's an opinion I understand but there's no need to be an asshat
I remember hiking the Pacific Crest Trail with this song in my ears, the lyrics "I woke with sun in my face, mountains by my side, the desert air pulling the breath of my lungs" felt so literal. God this band is powerful.
I've followed these guys for years. used to go to church with Garrison in Calera, Al. I even remember when Garrison played guitar for a band called One Accord and switched to vocals for St. Valentine's Day Massacre/Even Idols Die.. other members of Erra also came from Broadcast The Nightmare, Woe is Me, By Blood and Iron etc etc etc. it's been awesome to see what all these guys have transformed into.
+Rheainstoun I didn't know fallujah and carnifex were gonna release an album too. Well one direction, Beyonce, vengaboys and Ricky Martin are also coming up with a new record 😝
it's literally 5:00 in the morning i dunno why, but i decided that i must discover new stuff i've been searching for about 5 hours, then i found ERRA. i regret nothing.. holy fuck this band is amazing every single song by them is just perfect.. i'm in love
I love watching bands change their sound. Because a big part of their fanbase goes against them, but wouldn't you get sick of doing the same thing over and over again? Good job ERRA this shit is fire.
Great fit for this band. Everyone asking for garrison- he's not coming back. Bands don't want vocalists that sound exactly like one another, because music is progressive. ERRA is progressive. JT slays. Stoked for their tour.
Damn, i've been a fan for years but i live in Norway so never get to see them live just yet. I got a sleeve of their album covers tho. They're the best band out there rn.
Nothing beats Impulse and Augment, i wish Garrison would come back, but thats a wish thatll probably never come true. Solid single, but not my favorite. Still love you guys
+Jesse Cash the cd wont suck at all, im sure itll be awesome :D I was just expressing my opinion as a fan since day one. Change can be good though, im curious to see some solos on the new album i hope.
+JT Cavey Top work man, didn't really click with Ian, but this is sick. Good work can't wait for the Album. Can't wait for April and hurry up and get to Australia.
New ERRA can't hold a candle to old ERRA. Without the brilliant lyrics and vocals of Garrison and Alan's sick guitar melodies, I feel like I'm just listening to a djent version of Ghost Atlas.
This song is great. Still holds up to Erra's roots with its powerful lyrics and word depiction. brilliant choosing of words. It sucks that i wont be able to listen to the full album right when it comes out. Ill be leaving for the military soon and wont be able to use a phone or any communication in the meanwhile. I wish they could just release it sooner so i could jam out to this amazing band before i depart.
Am I the only one kinda disappointed with the quality of this song? Overall I like it and it sounds good, just feel like it's low quality and doesn't do it justice.
No you're not alone, but don't announce it to Erra, they'll make fun of you! It's not like fans are saying this sucks and it's Asking Alexandria quality of metal, but they set such a high standard with their first two full-lengths, and this doesn't touch it. If this is an intro track, and others are higher in terms of technicality, then it's their fault for releasing this as a single and painting this as their first impression with their new album.
+Tefyt Paw +Chris Caldwell The bass is a little weak in this mix but I think it was an artistic choice. Also I think this song is not supposed to be a representation of the full length but rather purposed to hype everyone that ERRA is back!
TIJ was one of my favourite bands out there , was kinda sad when I heard they were breaking up , and now JT is in Erra I guess this shall be one of my new favs
+Luke Geiger I feel like this guy should've stuck to Metalcore like We Came as Romans. Erra's too Tech to do this to me! FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!
I feel like ERRA is slowly getting less technical with the guitars, which I personally loved. Jt seems like an awesome fit for the band tho. Bring back Augment!!!!
+Erik Shaw yeah I do but just putting that out there cuz moments of clarity for the most part was more djent than melodic metalcore so I don't want them to stray too far from their roots
Me: Hello 911? Yes, I'd like to report a rape. Dispatcher: Sir, are you the victim? Me: No, I'm the perpetrator. Dispatcher: Sir? Me: Yes, I have thoroughly and brutally raped the replay button to the new Erra single. Dispatcher: There is no crime here. Goodbye sir, and stay metal.
My god they never fail to deliver. Loving JT he's different but suits more than Ian imo! And as always Jesse absolutely killing it, what a beautiful voice.
what the FUCK is up with this mix? Like shit, I can barely hear the guitars under the vocals, and I doubt I can even hear the bass. I hope Brian Hood (Augment/MOC, Invent Animate, bunch of other bands) didn't mix this.
+Mason Stanley Can't exactly tell if you're saying Brian Hood's mixes are preferred or not lol......cause Augment's production and mix is absolutely superb.
+evaninboots They have toured with the Afterimage before (both are great live IMO). Wouldn't be surprised if their sound kind of "rubbed off" on them a little. The writing is much different though.
+Richard A. dude, i thought the exact same thing when i first heard their new single a couple days ago. It's good though, I like volumes because they have a different kind of sound. They're like listening to a new take on deftones from 10 years ago. But i love Erra, and i'm expecting the rest of this album is going to be amazing. I hope I'm right
Impulse: White Noise, Pattern interrupt, Seven, Heart, Render the Void (songs i like the most, but the whole album is great) Augment: Alpha Seed, Frostbite, Rebirth, Spirits Away, Crimson, Dementia (Same as above, but again, the whole album is great xD)
Meh.. sounds like the beginning of the end. I'll never forget the first time hearing erra and having to pick my jaw up from the floor. This didn't do that.
+Pedro Lourenço their last albums had a ton of background effects. which playing live they have to key in. it makes their sets much more standard, no room for improvisation or inspiration, and makes it difficult to do different things with songs, like blending them together, without having to totally remake the background. This is a step forward in a live setting for sure, i loved the background stuff too, but i think they really had live sets in mind.
+Rui Carneiro i've seen them 3 times so far, and watching ian struggle the last time with vocals, and the quality of bands they are touring with; they have to be able to perform really tight sets in order to grow. but you may be right about the production, i cant tell through youtube haha
John Alexander the ambiebt and background is absent but i wasnt talking about it, i was talking about the mix itself! It sounds poor, the guitars are sharp and bassless, the tone is bad and the vocals easily get lost, they should stand out more! The guy that produced augment and the dreamcatcher ep did an amazing work, its a shame they didnt go there again
