My 2 cents ( it resolved my issue of adding dependent ) - follow along this video from 6.00min - 9.05min - PAUSE if you still can't add, ONE last thing - you search your dependent with UID ( which can be found in your dependent's profile top right corner) and BINGO - you can now view and edit your dependent details and continue with your application. Should that be yes to be considered a dependent, or does it not matter? • The prompt for the question is Help : Traveling with Others You should answer Yes to this question if you are traveling with family, as part of an organized tour, or as part of a performing group or athletic team. You do not need to list individuals who are traveling with you for the purposes of employment with the same employer. 2. What happens if I select " no" in my fathers and "yes" in my mother's application? 3. Should the primary email address be the same in both of my parents DS160 to be considered dependent

Technically, it is a workaround, so I'm just telling that it worked for me, but I give no guarantee that this will work for you; so if you follow it, you do it at your own risk. You re-create your dependent, one more time, but use a different (previously unused) email address, and specify a false country of birth for your dependent. This will allow you to proceed to the next step. Then, just before you pay for your passports delivery, you click on the "Update" button. Then you have an access to your dependent's info, and now you can change your dependent's country of birth to the true one. I hope this helps.

I got the bellow message while adding the dependent details. Even I tried creating the new account for the dependent but its showing the same message. "Your personal details match a profile which already exists in our database. If you created this profile in the past and forgot the password, please use the 'Forgot your password?' function on the login screen. If this user name isn't familiar to you, please contact our helpline through the Provide Feedback option in the left menu or by sending an E-mail to our helpline. Please don't forget to attach the scanned copy of your passport's data page to your feedback message/E-mail." I have no clue why it is showing that details.

thank you for sharing the steps. For me it didnt populate after creating portal for dependants. But there is an option called Add Existing dependant by UID. enter your dependant UID and it will populate. this worked for me

If i am 61 year old and my Son is 24 year old, In this case my son is my dependent or not? and can we both get appointment for same day? or we should apply separately for appointment?

Previously, i had added my twin children (19 years) as dependents while taking appointment for myself and spouse, however, did not take appointment nor pay fees for my dependent children, as they couldn’t accompany on the same date, now my visa appointment is done and now like to take appointment for my children. So should I proceed with my Primary a/c in US visa scheduling site and use 'Close application' option, and re-add dependent details or create seperate a/c for one of the child and add 2 child as dependent? I successfully obtained my L1 visa a couple of months ago, and now I'm looking to apply for L2 visas for my dependents (my spouse and child). However, when I log in to the US visa scheduling site, I don't see an option to create a dependent profile. Instead, I only see an option to close my current application and create a new one. Hi! Thanks for sharing these steps with all of us. As per the suggestion, we tried to create a profile for dependent but as soon as the passport details were entered, system generated msg stating your personal details match a profile which already exists in our database. It's saying there is already a user id for this profile which we don't recollect. We have submitted a feedback on the portal for further resolution. However, just want to understand if this isn't because the dependent information was already supplied in the primary application. Also, my sister is facing this migration issue of old portal to new portal from last many months because of which validity of last fees paid also expired. Status of previous application is still in open state for depended however for primary it's closed.

Hi...I have added dependents to my name as Primary applicant. I qualify for interview waiver, however my dependents do not. I missed checking them individually for interview waiver and paid the fees for all and booked appointment and it came as interview waived for all. Hence I had to cancel my appointment. It did not work. When I add dependent then it automatically picks L1 blanket visa even it should be L2 Visa. then I created dependent profile and added my primary id as contact id but and followed the process but still nothing changed. and now profile shows 2 different appplicatioin in dependent section. You are misguiding. The profile of dependents can not be created with same email id of primary applicant. You are misleading. Have you the experience of this process or just making video for the sake of it.

What if one of the dependents I add does not attend the interview? Please let me know. Basically, I want to remove one of the dependents but I saw in one of the comments that it has to be closed first and then start a new application which won't be a smooth process.

I recently applied for a B2 Visiting visa for me and my wife. While applying, I added our both details and proceeded to the payment gateway. Suddenly my spouse's details were deleted and not shown while processing the payment. So I have to cancel it. I tried adding her details again but it shows the candidate's Mail ID and passport number are already registered. I got the error as "profile already exist" but i have not created the dependent account in new portal. So i followed your process to open a new application and then at manage dependent, i exit the application. I logged in dependent profile and updated contact email address as primary applicant address and went thru all the steps till document delivery and exit the application When i loggged in back in primary application, dependent information doesn't show up on manage dependents. I am kind of stuck as support is not helping me here. Any help or guidance you can provide ?

When adding dependent in the primary person's application, can we give the same email id as the primary applicant? I used same email address as the contact email in both of their DS 160.

@umreeka - If Separate appointments are booked, does the H4-dependent needs to mandatorily have H1B stamped visa copy ? which means the appointment for the dependent needs to be booked only after primary applicant's visa is approved ?

i had filled the application and paid the MRV fees. so then sent message to customer care .again i had to close the first application and started a new application then i had an issue adding my wife as dependent says profile already exists . so someone suggested you do your application alone and got my appointment and finished the interview. after this i logged into my wife profile, but im unable to claim receipt of fees. it gives error RC07. please help.

My family has 3 separate profiles created earlier and now we are submitted new visa application and trying to add dependents to one of the profile. Primary profile DS160 number is updated by closing and starting new profile. But for the dependents profile, should we close and start again to update DS160 or continue with same and just update email id as Primary person's email id as group payment will be made through primary profile?

Now in payment page iam asked to pay for 2 people even though I am applying for h4 visa for my wife. Should I create new profile in wife's name and process the application there? Is that the solution for this? But in that case I wont be the primary applicant right? Please help.

@Umreeka - I am facing the same issue of adding dependent, I can see that same same dependent is added thrice in the primary applicant profile and I am unable to change the primary contact after logging into the dependent profile. I am even trying to book appointment separately for the dependent it throws an error stating primary applicant missing. Please suggest how can I resolve these issues or anything else can be done to get to the payment confirmation page.

I am unable to update the passport details in the new portal. I was asked to create a new profile with a new email id.
