Beautiful ‘tableau portraits’ (if that works as a way of describing them?). I love the way my eye is drawn into the images, exploring not only the subject, but the scene; a scene that projects a still, almost somber, almost austere, almost reverent atmosphere. Love the design of each frame; the colour and light. Definitely gonna add this to my shopping list (or at least one of Olaf’s books I can afford) Thanks for bringing this photographer to my attention.
That is a great description, in some ways they remind me of the old Masters style paintings. Very heavy on the post production, which puts me off a little. I just bought his "Erwin Olaf: Strange Beauty" for less than £10. The early books are very expensive but "I Am" is still fairly cheap.
