It’s just a fad more then something sustainable. I tried on the Evan Smiths a couple years back and they were not a good product. They were repulsive in quality. ES is doing limited runs and treating this like a supreme product. It’s a 150 shoe 😂. This going to be some Hailey Bieber kicks
@@stalwartzero7001 anything with a PU aka polyurethane midsole is going to crumble in a few years unless it's in a vault and never exposed to moisture, EVA less so but PU foam is the worse offender by far. The foam absorbs the moisture in the air and in a few years disintegrates, like all the early jordans. If you wanna put em on ice, throw in a fresh desiccant packet, like the kind you find in seaweed packs or the ones Dcshoes throws in. Which is why wear your shit cuz just like your true OGs are gonna crumble. DC Legacys, Kalis 1s and 2s, all PU foam midsole with airbags and are gonna crumble. Es Muska reissues, PU. Axion Genesis' PU. DC Lynx OGs with rubber cupsoles, and Williams OGs with EVA will last the longest. ES Creagers and virio sole EVA models and the supposedly midsole-foamless Marc Johnsons will last the longest. Wear your shit round 2, it won't last just like it didn't 20 years ago. As far as it being a fad, DC started their "reserve" line with the re-release of the Lynx OG back in March 2018. They've been consistently releasing OG shoes and colorways every month or so since, most of their team riders have been rocking the style as well with their own clothing lines just like TJ Rogers on eS. The style isn't going nowhere, in fact it's probably the best time in skateboarding, pros still rock both the skinny shit and that baggy look. If you were there for the last and the first time, you should know skate fashion has always gone in cycles. 1991-95 it got super baggy with all the cut off blind jeans. By 98 it went up and down a bit but more tasteful with brands like Droors and Matix and peaked around '04. Soon after Vans first Rowley shoe came out that vulc shit started creeping in, the industry did a u turn on the unique midsole molds etc and yall wanted to wear your sisters jeans 🤣🤣
I finally got them in hand. Ended up ordering the bred colorway too. It’s honestly surreal. Especially with the blue rising sun deck. Damn it feels good to be a grown man that can buy these nostalgic treasures, whilst providing for my family. Today was the happiest I’ve been since I was 10 and I can’t even skate cause it’s raining 😢😂
Bro I feel your joy , I couldn't get these back then and being in my 20ish when they came out liked em but went more sal bs , sheep , hook ups etc , I managed to get the bred Muskas and the BLK and yellow creagers , hard work and family is gold , esp thru the lens we see thru
@@matthewcody1757real recognize real 🫡! Ended up getting my Breds in and, I’m still feeling like I’m in a dream. Speaking of dreams. Shorty’s is doing preorders right now for a limited edition “Fulfill The Dream” 8.125 deck. And that shit glows in the dark 😂. I haven’t seen anyone talking about it, but maybe that’s a good thing because I was able to secure one of them. I checked this morning, and it wasn’t sold out yet. Neither was the blue rising sun. Respect to you my guy…. God bless you and the family!
The shoelace plastic piece goes by a few names: spring cord lock, double hole toggle slider, drawstring stopper. etc The soles crumble from hydrolysis (moisture in the air). Since you have a real collection you should look into either carbodiimide or similar agents to prevent further autocatalytic hydrolysis. Also, my guess for the stitching around the ollie pad changing is due to cost cutting measures. Stopping the machine and readjusting to the ollie pad is more time-consuming than continuing the stitch and incorporating it into the anchor stitch in one shot.
Bro good too see another vid. eS putting that custom insole with the arch support was a good touch, every company back then were doing high quality insoles with heel pads. Remember Gershon Mosley's aftermarket S-One insole company? Glad these fit good because it was weird surprise sizing for me with the es Creagers, they were perfect. Size 10s in grey weren't at all narrow, they fit like a DC Williams OG in 10, the toeboxes were roomy. I suppose it's partly due to the material of upper, leather will fit tighter than a good suede before breaking in. The Lynx OG Darkrooms, FTPs, and the Sportsclass I can wear a 9.5, but the rest of the colorways I size up to a 10.
That’s funny because I emailed them 3 years ago when the silo first came back out and literally said “it’s cool your back we love you but we need better products as athletes… otherwise you won’t last with that price point”
They changed the stitching in the Ollie bump area on later versions of the shoe. Like some of the last colors to come out like the brown/black with yellow. Your OG pair is a 1997 pair. The remake is modeled off a pair from early 1999
What probably happened with those mismatched sizes is that a shop got the display shoes mixed up. You know how they take one and put it on the shelf? Sometimes you’ll get a customer that tries some on and accidentally mixes up one of the shoes they try on with the display shoe. Then they buy them and end up leaving the shop with the other mismatched set. Happened to me once. Got some shoes from zumiez an hour away from me because I live in a small town. Get home and lace them up and notice one felt way bigger. I took it back to exchange them and they didn’t have both shoes for then 9 or the 10 sizes.
I work in a retail shoe store this does happen every once in awhile and you be surprised at how many people never come back to return the shoe leaving the business stuck with two different sizes and unable to sell them.
Glad you posted this. I was wondering how these fit before buying. Took your advice and bought it in my actual size. I might try to get a pair of Creagers as well.
Heading to modern skatepark in Detroit for a grey and blue pair. They have a full size run so I’m gonna try on a 9.5 and 10. Don’t know what to expect size wise, but I’m really excited. Just bought a pair of the ASICS gel flexkee and I’m really impressed with those
I grabbed the grey and blue joints… to match the rising sun (blue). Definitely going to wear the shoes… but don’t know if I can ever skate that deck, even though it’s not OG. I just can’t bring myself to do grip it up 😂😂😂.
It's called a lace lock like Jordan's have on the 5 and 6......LONG TIME SUBSCRIBER AND GOLDEN ERA SKATER 36 FROM TDOT GRANT PATTERSON TAUGHT ME TO FLICK WE LOVE UR CHANNEL RESPECT FOR THE NEW VID FINALLY
I was such a mini Muska I got the silhouette and that Shorty's baseball style logo that's on the poster behind your head tatted on my left arm twelve years ago.
For that to happen, C1RCA would have to come back to life 1st. Which, will happen. But we don't know when and if they'll do it like how Fallen came back. It came back, but not the way it used to be.
Exactly my Ollie blow out is directly on the stitching, globe seemed to be the only shoes that had extra'x in spots , like on the CT3 , even the new ones from globe although they are super slim brothel creepers, seem more in the right area , but those Muskas are LUSH .
I actually managed to get the creagers in BLK yellow and the Muska in red BLK , which was hard where I am in the world , so I'm stoked , I possibly will skate the creagers maybe not , idk yet , still to arrive
I've Also been skating the emerica og ones in White, brilliant shoes , as good as I remember, but jonseing for a pale pair of either or esp the grey creagers but then I'm actually being greedy but won't need to up on shoes for a good yr, maybe wait for the off greenish muskas
The white shorties swoosh has a groove in it on the originals. Originals were blue inside the tongue. The originals had one pocket in one shoe only, not both. And yes the new tongues are thicker. Muskas initially had a thinner tongue than creagers/ kostons. The two models you are comparing were two different runs with different materials. Your black ones from around 97 and the grey being a reissue of the updated 99 model.
Haha those stash pockets turn your nug into a mf sweaty pancake 🥞💦 🍁 your weed gets athletes foot n shit 😅😅 I rem the homie pulling up to sell me a dime bag and when he pulled the sack out the muskas shit looked flatter than a dime 🪙
I had the og muska back in the day at the age of 11 and spent my Birthday/ Christmas money on them. My mom didn't see the value of them. They were extremely well made and very comfortable. Just bought another pair... Sorry mom 😅
I wish osiris could use dc or es technology/factory cuz the d3 reissue fit like a tank with a massive cow tongue slabbed on top of your foot. Never tried the orginal d3 but I'm assuming it didn't fit like that
On the size difference: Wonder if 2 people didn’t skate switch/nollie at all. One goofy, one regular and they each only destroyed 1 shoe. Just a thought.
INFO : the first 4-5 colurways in 97 ( Black/red, Gray/blue White_Navy and Navy/Yellow) had that netting over the mesh like the reissue, and the tongues were in perforater nubuck or leather( for the white /navy pair.. but from 98 in new releases the tongue was all mes like the lateral vents, like in the og pair you have 🤟 @Golden Era Collector
How do you deal with the laces being a bit too long for the shoe? I don't know your lacing technique, but leaving the top loops out so the tongue can be poofed out leaves me with enough lace to wrap around the globe. Please help
proper quattro or proper koston 1. I'd even settle 4 the Lakai koston 1 election editions I had em in 2008 when they dropped. they bought the rights to that shoe from eS That's why those lame One 9 Seven exists and has a lame sole on em w no air pocket. betcha Don Brown and the dudes at sole tech wish they wouldn't have sold them rights now😅 Carrol could be a nice guy and give the rights back for a 10% share in money made, That's a even trade dude.
@@eatassonthefirstdate I got a pair of the 197’s and they are surprisingly comfortable, but definitely not the thing they want to be. I hope the muskas and creagers show es that investing in the actually specs will bring more sales in and we get those back in OG form. Esp the Quattros!
@@GoldenEraCollector yeah i feel ya just a cool and funny thing i noticed esp since you have like boxes of the coolest shoes ever behind you! how you like adidas skate shoes? loving tyshawn lows. not the biggest fan of "remastered " version though tbh
@@dneck their skate shoes feel really solid and proper for sure. I just never buy any due to wanting to skate reissues and junk. I've tried on friends pairs and they're good
How much do thr Muskas weight against the Creags? I been skating in my Creags for well over a month, built to last but theyre heavy af. Had to adjust flick timing because of it.
