heard in all 3 performances weekend of 6/29/24 - magnificent. in the 3rd performance he made 3 changes: he made the chorus come in the beginning so as not to disturb, and did not let them sit after the last bimbam.. until it was loud enough during the last movement when their sitting wouldn't distract. the off stage drumming.. the door was closed instead of ajar, and the off stage trumpet solo as incrementally opened wider twice during the solo.

I don't know if the clarinets bells up is something that Esa does because I've only seen it before in this orchestra but I absolutely love it.

Mahler writes it in the part as a direction, but it's not always followed since it doesn't actually do much to the sound. It's for a visual effect.
