Thanks for the video review of the cook set! Great to see a review where the reviewer is not just boiling water, but actually cooking something so we can make a better and more accurate decision in purchasing the cook set! Can't go wrong cooking chili when on a camping/hiking trip! Safe camping to you!
Greetings from the UK! That is a fine meal my mate! I own the Trangia 25-1 Hard Anodised (Frying pan, both pots and both windscreens). I couldn't imagine life without it, however, I rather like your Esbit Cookset - a handsome bit of gear that seems to perform aswell as the Trangia sets (I may buy an Esbit aswell). I've began to salivate just watching you cook your Chilli Con Carne with venison! I will have to try venison as opposed to minced beef next time I cook a Chilli. Venison.....the food of kings! Anyway, thank you for your demonstration and you've just earned a subscriber. Chris (UK)
Mine just came in from Amazon. The size and stability were the two major selling points for me. Watching him make that chili helped me realize you can easily feed four grown men using the large pot. Moreover, I have a 2.5L water bladder, if I were in an extreme situation where time is critical or I only have enough fuel for one burn and I need to refill my bladder, this large pot can almost top me off in one burn.
Yeah man is very stable! I was looking at the ALOCS CW-CO5 but it doesn't actually block the wind well, and to stir the pot you have to use the pot holder
When you've lived through dropping your breakfast 3 times, and then you settle for hard boiled eggs, this little set is welcomed relief. I like the idea of stability. I'm talkin about spending the night on the side of a mountain in rough terrain. I did it, and well it was frustrating, and I know I used some choice words and even sweated a little in mid 30's temperatures. I guess I could have rolled down the mountain a couple of times, too. After that week in the mountains, I ran out and bought this little jewel. And I'm as happy as a Lark. Thanks for showin it off. ATB, Jb.
Thanks for great presentation, have you using it some longer? What are your experiences with cooking and eating from an aluminium dishes? Have you comparing it to Trangia cookset maybe? Thanks 👍🏼
Great Review, thanks for that. Helped me a lot to make a buying decision. I'm impressed by the performance of the Cookset and that you actually made Chilli with it.
Been wanting one of these. Good demo showing that I might want two. That fuel reload while freshly hot? I'm uneasy. a cold-second stove might allow me to perform similarly with my own fears as waged - then, cook coffee!!!
Thankf for the video! good to see it in someone's hands, so I can get a real idea of it's size. As suspected it is unwieldly large for one person, maybe even too big for 2. Perfect for base camp setup, or a Van/car/motorcycle touring kit.
Finally found your clip on the stove. Is it possible to burn the fire pelts in this stove. It appears to be a very stable cook stove. What is clean-up like? Al. A
Save me some. Man, that is an all around cook set. Was impressed with it. It would be great for a long camping trip. Thats all the cook set you would need. Great video. Thanks. Ronnie,Texas
Lol, I use the Stanley Flask for my fuel also. They even have a smaller one now. They work great and you don't have to worry about them leaking like the cheap ones. I lived off that "Cowboy Hash" when I was in college. I add rice Nice stove never used one, but have seen them a lot out here and I see them get good reviews.
Awesome review, looks like it would be great for a family camping. Great idea with the flask. I would put PGA in the flask just in case someone decided to take a drink.
Great video I've got the Trangia identical and i always carry it no matter what as it is so reliable and carry a trangia mini as a backup just in case which i believe esbit do also..
Ive seen this cookset several times before but this is the first video Ive watched. Im surprised how large it is. If anything, that would be a detracting factor for camping and hiking... at least to me.
Great review as always Ben , that is a nice and complete cook kit for just about anything you want to make ! that looks like some good camp cooked chili nice and hearty ! thanks for sharing atb john
My only gripe is your ingredient proportions. My recommendation is to put a teaspoon of beer in at first and then when the burner runs out of fuel add a second teaspoon. That way you will have time to drink the rest of the first beer and give you an excuse to pop open the second one while you wait for the chili to finish. All kidding aside, thanks for the video as I might add this cook kit to my chuck box.
check out some of the videos by "waw hiker" he's got some really cool alcohol stove cooking vids. there's this mod that has an external tank for the esbit stove which is super rad too. extended runtime.. wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhht? :)
