You are right and I really appreciated your reaction since you're able to catch the poetic value of this song. So many reactions have been posted by commentators who hadn't even really listened to the song talking all along not checking the lyrics or its meaning. In my opinion lyrics are part of the song as well as its music and both counts although depending on the type of song either part could be predominant. I can tell you for sure for Esc this song would have been performed still in Italian, to keep its poetical flavour but also to maintan its singing value, in fact, because Italian words ends in vowels the singing property is different from other languages (for istance you need more power to sing in Italian vs. English), it's a technical reason for which it's so difficult for many English artists to sing in Italian and they sound so funny when they do it.
