Calibrating the throttle range on your electric airplane's ESC is essential to unlocking its full-throttle range. This simple calibration process only needs to be done once and takes just a few seconds. See all the links in the description below:

Wow, thanks so much for this video. I am currently building my first RC plane and am just testing the electrics. I've really struggled with the throttle and have been using other people's guides with no success. After spending all afternoon on it your super simple guide worked straight away!

I'm not a lot into electric planes so I did not know this. And when I did try to calibrate, I did it wrong. So after pulling the plane apart and checking the connections and continuity checks 3 times I finally did a RU-vid search and found this. Very helpful.

Perhaps you could just do a piece on the general installation of 2.4ghz systems from antenna position to Rx location, how to fix the components in place and some of the do's and don't of operating a 2.4ghz system and dispel some of the myths around it.

Good video, but you can support your argument by using a white meter to show before and after calibration. Of course, the prop would need to be attached for this so additional safety precautions would be needed.

Good video. Just some food for thought, Always set throttle cut in your transmitter, especially with propeller type planes. Also never reverse your throttle in your transmitter, if the propeller is spinning backwards. It is best to swap out a motor wire to the esc.
@MotionRC

Good point! but better than all that is removing the prop entirely before working on your transmitter.

Question: Do you bring the throttle up with the throttle cut switch on or off? My gut says with it OFF as if you were going to power the model for takeoff. But, I would really love to know a 100% answer either way. Thanks, James!!

Throttle cut needs to be off. If it’s a propeller driven model you should remove the propeller before calibrating.

@joshhindle8946

On a brushless speed controller . Do you allways leave it plugged into your received or do you unplug the 3 prongs after callibration . . Just ordered a brushless ESC but it's not a 2 in 1 like my old one was.. I'm wondering do I connect it into my receiver just for quick callibration then unplug it . Because I have to use that 3 prong spot for my steering servo. I'm new to RCS but I'm trying to convert a car to brushless .. I may just stick to brushless 2for1 receiver/ESC. Because this makes no sense to me lol can you use a basic ESC on a car with built in ESC/receiver. Sorry if that's a complicated questions . I know you guys have the knowledge on here

I've never calibrated any ESC of mines on any of the planes I have I just move the trim up to where 1 notch the motor starts spinning but I will definitely do this for all my planes now to get that full range, Here's a video idea I'm not sure if it's been done before but doing a video on Rx that have antennas placement in the plane, making sure the Rx is getting the best connection while up in the air to avoid brown outs 🤔🤷🏾‍♂️

What do you do when your align helicopter moves its pitch servo instead of spinning the electric motor, when you move the throttle stick on the transmitter? Im like is it a ESC, transmitter programming issue or the 3gx flybarless system? Any ideas, ive tried everywhere to get answers. The connections are in correct place
@MotionRC
@MotionRC 3 года назад
Usually with helicopters, the motor will be on a switch. When the switch is off, you can set your swash plate and pitch for the entire throttle range, then you flip the switch and next time you throttle up it will all work together

@MotionRC

and EDF is still just a motor and esc like any prop planes. The EDF is just the shroud the motor is encased in so an ESC calibration is still a good thing to do. For planes that use 2 escs/2 motors/2 batteries, same rules apply just try and plug them in quickly in secession, wait for the first beeps and bring the throttle down. They will sync together.
