And here I am in 2020, a Hungarian woman living abroad for the past 20 years and I am crying my eyes out. Guys, if you do not speak Hungarian look up the lyrics: it is so beautiful!
I remember this gem very well and I also remember her stunned face when she got 12 points from the first three juries. Although she slipped in the rest of the voting to a beautiful 4th place for their first ever entry.
I’m so happy that my home country Sweden gave this 12 pts back in 1994. Hungarys first entry to the ESC were truly a masterpiece! Deserved more than it’s 4th place...
This was so simple, calm but beautiful.Hungary is one of my favourites cuz they always send quality and diverse performances and singers.Love their entries from almost all the years. Country full of TALENT
This masterpiece was their first in Eurovision. They opened the voting with 3 X 12 points in a row. Strangely enough they ended 4th. It's a beautiful song. Timeless.
She has a pure, beautiful voice, and the song itself is lovely :-) I like it a lot! And this song also shows how beautiful Hungarian language is. This one and "Kedvesem" (Hungary 2013) :-)
I can't wait until you react to the actual 1994 winner. My favourite Eurovision song ever! This song was beautiful as well, I believe this was their debut.
My reaction on hearing it the first time was similar. "Wow", and then you don't want to say or do anything else in case you miss something. Love this song!
Thank you for reacting to this! This was Hungary's debut at ESC and she came in 4th which is still their best result to this day. Hopefully you can also react to Hungary 2005 and 2013 :)
Time's like this I wish I had kept the Hungarian I learnt fresh, but unfortunately I've forgotten most of it. Still, hearing this language is nostalgic. ❤
I always love Hungarians songs chose. They are not affraid to send a differend type of music. Ukrainians performance are always polish. Songs have the woow effect. And Bulgarians song are very catchy and very modern.
When the votes started coming in back in 1994 the first FOUR delegations awarded this 12 points and everyone assumed we were heading to Budapest. 4th is still great for a début and remains their equal best ever performance.
It's a good sweet song :) Glad my country (Ireland) gave it 12 :) P.S I still would like to request the magical life Changing powers of Austria 2003 (Alf Poier) 😌
Friderika Bayer - Kinek mondjam el vétkeimet? /To whom shall I confess my sins?/ She is a member of the Faith Church so guess what and who the song is about :)
If we are yet to disappoint you, then watch the entry for 2009. That was the lowest of the low. I would also be curious about your opinion on the 2013 entry because that was very controversial. The Hungarian panel of the national 'pre-qualifier' voted the song out twice and the viewers kept bringing it back, even finally voting it the 1st. Cheers from Hungary :)
She finished 4th after the best of the 7 irish winners (rock 'n' roll kids), the amazing polish debut (Edyta Gorniak, you've reacted to it the other day) and Mekado from Germany (that i hope is on your list as well, such a fun song!). That's why she didn't win: very strong competition!
Germany were the biggest favourites at the odds in front of the final, according to the news, as far as I remember....! I hope Jake will react to this as well. I think it has been requested earlier, but I'm not sure.
Nothing, just a shiny night, just speechless sorrow, vain hope There is no loyalty, no love, no smoothing hands for me. To whom do I tell my sins and ask for forgiveness? To whom do I tell my sins, my God? The night is cold, but I want light Like a swimmer pulling south. My body is a cool dream only But my soul is a dormant firebird ... To whom do I tell my sins and ask for forgiveness? To whom do I tell my sins, my God? Don't torture me, because I'm in front of you with blindfolded eyes! Oh, my God, why tell me? Without tears…
