European country vote for their neighbour or politically close country. And bosnia's neighbour got politics problem so noone voted for them. Turkey have had same problem many times, so we dont go you Esc anymore. Many Esc turkish song were top of world list, but we could won only 1 time nearly 57 years
This is the country I miss the most in Eurovision. They have brought some really amazing entries. Bistra voda is probably my favorite together with "Lejla" (2006). Still praying for them to return. I hope it will happen in 2019.
Terhi Eliise Siitam Well, we do have to admit that they really sound very similar. I often watch American news and have noticed that on so many occasions TV presenters get confused and call us Balkans or Balkan States, then I've come to realise that it must be quite difficult to tell the difference between these two for non-European people, as I mentioned in the beginning - it does sound very similar. Love from LT 🇱🇹 ♥ 🇪🇪
baktom I also find it funny. And get offended a bit when people mix up countries in the Balkans 😂 or mispronounce the countries.. And Arnold Schwarzenegger is easy to say? 😂😂 Well. We love you too.. Even when we have jokes and stereotypes. We still have love! 🙂
They also released a Russian & English version of the song as well as the original Bosnian. This is one of my favourite esc songs from this country!! The band Regina, if my mind served me correctly, have been going since 1989 (20 years before competing in Eurovision)
I remember when I heard this song for the first time. I was at 4th grade, cheering for my country but after I heard this song, my winner has changed. For me, this is a magical song.
Yeesss..Love this song, the band Regina is amazing. I really like it when the song manages to tell the story with the melody and drama, as you said, so you don't even need to understand the lyrics (I understand them and they are so beautiful, but that's besides the point). I miss quality BiH entries on Eurovision, hope they come back. Thank you for this reaction
My favorite entry from 2009 ❤️ Bosnia & Herzegovina is one of the greatest countries in Eurovision, they always deliver great quality entries like this masterpiece!
It's always "Bosnia & Herzegovina", people just sometimes shorten it and say "Bosnia", we tend to be lazy :D Great song btw, I love "Bistra voda" (it means "Clear water"), and I can't wait for you to react to Bosnia & Herzegovina 2006 :)
Foreginers does not know but Herzegovina is Dutchy of Bosnia(ks). It is Bosnia but part that in some time in history had own Duke (germ. Herzeg). Duke was Bosniak by ethnicity.
My only concern with this is that you see two guitars on stage but you hear completely different instruments. ;) Bosnia and Herzegovina has been one of my favorite ESC countries and it's a pity that their broadcasting station is so broke that they couldn't afford to participate in recent years.
I'm glad you reacted to this one! It was my favorite from that year and I couldn't even really tell why since I don't understand the language. I had the same feeling about it being magical somehow.
I think this is one of the most beautiful songs of Eurovision. So epic! Thank you Jake. I was one of the people who requested this one. I'm glad you like it
Hey,Jake! Thank you for your react and kind words. I'm Bosnian and it was funny watching this and waiting for your comments. Glad you like it! I know you have planned already what to react to next but for the next round I suggest you our entries from 2007 (Marija Šestić-Rijeka bez imena, 11th place) and 2011 (Dino Merlin-Love in rewind, 6th place).
A really nice entry from B&H, although some of the poses they did on stage, especially the lead singer, were a bit exaggerated lol. Their 2006 entry was THE REAL MASTERPIECE. :)
You should react to: Marija Sestic - Rijeka Bez Imena (Bosnia & Herzegovina) Live 2007 Eurovision Song Contest Great Balkan ballad from a talented young singer.
The song translation: Clear water I’m searching for the space and time in life And I wonder: where could it be? Where my soul is supposed to be Can you tell me, love? They say you keep a secret from me No more lies, just give me back those days at nights And the breeze of early spring In the morning light Wake me up on a precious morning But when the hope is fading away Remember to hold on There will be better days Bring us sunshine, bring us moonlight There’s no hope, no happy ending in the dark Let the music reach our hearts Wake me up on a precious morning But when the hope is fading away Remember to hold on There will be better days Wake me up on a precious morning But when the hope is fading away Remember to hold on There will be better days
I asked some people in my town Where does my soul reside They said you are hiding a secret for me, my dear I asked them to return to me That time, the long-lost hours Spring has the fragrance of love That’s what they say Give birth to me in the dawn of May Bathe me in the clear water I save a world for when all others leave I guard you till I die Steal a little sunshine for us There’s no tomorrow, no today It’s easy When the song finds your heart
Fistly: the translation was not made by me, but from people who do it for living, so pls. have some respect for their work. Secondary, not everything translated in english directly make any sense...so people most of the times change words, in order the lyrics and texts to have better meaning in the language to which is translated...
Jake, you have UK 2003 on your list. This was a disastrous year for the UK with certain things going wrong for Gemini resulting in a poor performance and ultimately placing last. Whoever requested this obviously doesn’t like the UK and it doesn’t represent the majority of the UK entries many of which are very good. The 2002 entry was amazing(3rd place) and also 1998 Imaani (2nd place) nearly won it for the UK two years in a row. The UK has won 5 times and has 15 2nd places. Things started going pear shape from 2003 onwards and only did well in 2009 placing 5th. The UK have tried sending various artists some well known, but Europe refuses to vote for us. For those in any doubt, the UK takes Eurovision very seriously and makes the largest financial contribution to the contest.
uztre6789 it doesn’t say anywhere but that’s not the point is it? 2003 was a particularly bad year if not the worst for the UK for various reasons and this wasn’t particularly a bad song but the vocals were off due to reasons they discussed at the time and this made the performance embarrassing. Why would someone want Jake to see this when there are many other performances form other years that he would enjoy? The UK have participated every year (apart from the very first year) so that’s over 60 entries and for some reason 2003 is requested? Hmmm...
uztre6789 I can think of plenty worse than this actually. And it wasn’t their actual performance but the key they were singing in. The circumstances were very suspicious imo. Gemeni were VERY upset after the event and claimed their monitors were switched off and they could not hear each other amongst other things. They performed this after they returned to the UK and it was perfectly fine.
Ok Jake! This is my list for you! Some of them are amazing, som of them are.... Well, interesting ;) 1. Hungary 2007 2. Greece 2013 3. Austria 2003. 4. Bulgaria 2007. Have fun! C=
This was okay. But 2006’s entry is way better! Also, react to S&M 2005’s entry. You will notice the melody is the inspiration for “Love Love Peace Peace”.
Hey, it might be a random request, but i really liked the 1999 LITHUANIAN song, it didn't get very far, but it's the only decent Lithuanian ESC entry that was sung entirely in Lithuanian (Samagotian dialect). I really love that song i wonder what you think of it. :)
You should react to Croatia's 2006 entry Igor Cukrov - Lijepa Tena. It's dramatic, it's operatic, mystical (could be the wind machine though) and I think you'll enjoy it. Greetings from Germany!
Thanks, Im not a trol just lonely and have a lot of free time. Good luck and hopefully you will start reacting to other things(music, sport, movies etc)...
Bosnia and Herzegovina came 12th in 2009 with 106 p. 2009 was the year Norway's Alexander Rybak won, Iceland came 2nd and Azerbaijan came 3rd. Bosnia and Herzegovina got 12 p from Serbia, Montenegro and Croatia, 10 p from Slovenia and Macedonia, 8 p from Slovakia and Turkey, 6 p from Finland, 5 p from Sweden and Albania, 4 p from Netherlands, Switzerland and Bulgaria and 2 p from Iceland, Germany and Azerbaijan. They got 0 points from Spain, Belgium, Belarus, Malta, Czech Republic, France, Israel, Russia, Latvia, Andorra, Lithuania, UK, Greece, Ukraine, Cyprus, Poland, Estonia, Portugal, Ireland, Denmark, Moldova and Armenia.
You should react to the magical and funny entry from Bosnia And Herzegovina at 2008 but first read the lyric translared so you can understand it better.
