Good vid mate! I'd be bearanoid too! What was it at the end, sniffing your camp? On a hill, use your poles to prop your bag up, or bungee it to a tree/rock.
I like your style and concept on things . I only have my brother to do some of this type of training. So basically I do a lot by myself. Although outside of hunting season on public land I don’t take anything but a sidearm. So I don’t get to train carrying a rifle . Hopefully this summer I’m looking for some private land to get some rucking in, gear testing etc. I also want to do some field work with some radios mid range and short range tactical radio / shoot , move , communicate. Can’t do that on public land in Ohio . If you go full gear and law enforcement and game wardens will ruin your day. Not that anything is illegal it’s just I like not to be interrupted, or bothered . Also I want to try out some parrot type portable repeater, for extended comms. I have decided on my cook set and hydration. A bladder to set up an inline filter at camp , and a Pathfinder M34 canteen set also a titanium bush pot a small one . As for back woods transportation I’m leaning toward a folding Ebike. As for that I’m going to make a small trailer for it . Idea is just a trailer frame , then I’m going to use a plastic pulk strap it to the frame . That way in the winter I can have more gear . The Ebike isn’t necessary it’s more of an idea. One of the best things about Ohio there are lots of bike trails , logging roads . Main thing now is just find some access to private land. Sorry about the long winded commitment. Great video. Seeing your mountain house reminded me to pick up some. Walmart has Mountain House on sale $9.98 instead of $11. 98 or $12 something depending what it is .
I'm from Ohio, you can get away with a little shooting on public so long as your safe about it but it is very hard. I was fortunate enough to have a few good buddies that lived on a road with a number instead of a name and a real good backstop. Idk what full kit for you entails but I used to carry my shotgun with a bandolier or my bolt action with the same. "Woodchuck hunting" was always my excuse as they are open year round, and usually id pop one while I was out cuz they are damn good eating
Hi Ivarr.Once again you show that survival, prepping , bushcrafting nad evasion done properly requires REAL EFFORT and that results in panting, sweat, pain and tiredness. However Dayne was there giving moral and physical support - you can't beat a good dog. Like the testing of the 'new' stove. Stay safe up there in bear country! ATB. Nigel
You're correct, mate/ However too many ppl think it just about running out the door in camo and kit and thats all there is to it.. This will be addressed soon!
Great video! The scenery looks amazing glad you put out the video! Did something track you or did it stumble on you and Dayn ? looks like some scary shit ! Hope all is well thanks for sharing !
I don't know how I missed this video!!? Glad that I caught it now! Awesome beauty, and great outdoors make a great adventure! Thanks for sharing this with us! ❤🎯🤝✌️👍👍🍻🥃💪👊🫡
That was a real 'cliff hanger'.....quite literally! proper epic, very nice, really enjoyed it. That mountain was no joke, took some effort climbing that....and filming too! What was that strange structure at 5.27? looked man made.....another mystery of the mountain I guess. What was it at the end....a bear? Very exciting and all against some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen........outstanding.
Thanks lass.. If you look back again at the part where we were climbing that tiny green strip and look to the left at the horizon on the water you'll see the picture was slanted because of how the tripod was set up. It was MUCH MUCH steeper than it looked. He almost knocked me off..Yeah it was a hard hike but i learned loads more about goat ridge. I don't know anything about that wood structure. my guess is some hippie climbed up there to camp. Whoever it was left the place clean so i was happy for that.. At the end a lynx walked up on us. Im grateful Dayn was right next to me so i could keep him from making chase! It was just a brief second. It looked curious, had a fill of the strange creatures on his rocks and left as i yelled at it.. thnx for watching Lass.. glad you enjoyed it!
Looks like one ball breaker of a day. Interesting possible observation point? Got my first millbank bag from helikon this week, did a bear come up on you guys during lunch? Thanks for the video
Thnx for watching it to the end. I deliberately left out what it was to see who would watch it all the way and then ask what it was. A Lynx walked up on us. For a split second. It was as surprised to see us as we were to see it.. I dunno what that formation was. I wouldn't use it for an OP. Its too exposed. My guess is some hippy went up there and camped out. At least there was no trash to be found..
@@Ivarr.Bergmann.Alaska Yeah that’s what I meant some urbanite put it out there that must be a good year for cats seen lots of video of bobcats near the cabin, give Dayn a belly scratch from Apollo that dog loves you🤠
Awesome trip & video, thanks for sharing really enjoy them, DPM seems to blend pretty well in some portions of land especially as you started to reach the hill top, I rarely see DPM this effective.
Awesome scout. You pulled triple duty on those steep hills walking them 3 times for the shot the camera and back again. Thanks for the work. Dayne looked done there for a bit but rallied as always. Be interesting to see how that new cooker handles the wood fire over time. Great music and a banger at the end as well. Nate
I really think the camera "adds ten pounds", with him. I noticed that two. But hes lost a lot of weight in the past weeks. Hès had a lot of steak recently too.. That terrain was 10 pounds of bull dick every step of the way. I dunno who made that shelter thing on the woods edge but I may use it in the future for more kit proving.. have a good Monday my friend!
Finally made it to watch your brand new video 🎉 Whoah, what a mad hill... That was a crazy heavy terrain mate 🤯 Goat rigde 👍🏼... Dayne was so cool in this video 😅😊❤ From when the sun came out (about minute 22 or so) your DPM/rhodie mix worked very good! Eye Candy! The new cooker looks good! A lid would be awesome to make it boil faster. Good system, makes sense👍🏼 especially when hammer drops and no more esbit available, as you sayd. Very good kit as always and it is super AWESOME beautiful up there! You burned some calories 😂💪🏼 Best regards, GR 🫡🤜🏼🤛🏼
Im not sure what really sucks worse about it sucking. I think getting in shape and used to it and having to maintain it no matter what or you lose it, is the worst for me.
Great video and music, very well done! I am very surprised how you managed to cross this dense forest with all its dangers! You are a real inspiration my friend 💪👌! All the very best my friend from Austria, Bernd 🇦🇹🤠👍🏕🔥
lol'd at the esbit tin marked "fish". I learned the hard way not to store them in my mess kit for long periods of time. Good looking day kit. Hard hike. Mountains are always harder than they seem. Some people who have never been up one think they will be able to whenever they need to. I used to be one of them, but the I got educated real quick. The ability to have a wood burning stove is something I require for my kit as well. It's just convenient. A small fire won't give you away if you choose small, dry, wood. It burns hot and improves morale. That SRK looks basic and solid. Good qualities for a knife. Thanks for the vid. Beautiful scenery and a great look into reality for those with eyes to see and ears to hear.
You've come a long way since we met. You ability to look at your own experience winning or failing and to grow from them will take you far! Thanks for watching, pal!
Great video. We used Millbank bags in the British army to filter particles out, then put puritabs in the bottles ( that water looked like it didn't need it!) Those bottles last a lifetime.
Nah it didn't need it. I was lucky too because Dayn has a habit of walking up stream when I fill bottles, making a cloud of ass float my way when I'm trying to get water. He does it when he drinks too. However, I've noticed he is learning to not do that because he doesn't like to drink the ass he stirs up from running water.. Thnx for watching, mate and greeting from Alaska..
@TA.LONGBOW.ALASKA yes mate, good stuff! I left the UK in 2008 and now live in Alberta, Canada. Plan to move to Alaska soon. Great videos and great kid! 👍 keep your powder dry and your wits keen!
A lot of edit work there bro, loved the raw ground angles, a tough day but a happy mixture of self testing, understandable cursing and love bonding with Kane, my he looks more like a feral wolf every day. Yes, a tin cover and bendy wind shield to cover the holes on m2 would double the heat output. Great half hour well spent watching 🎉 thank you for the big effort. Harry out
Hès an amazing friend. Thank you. I couldn't believe he had two homes before I got him from the shelter. I think they wanted (according to his records) to show him off forgetting he is a living being that has needs.. Being in a cage all day while some yuppies went to work wasnt one of them..
Man i gotta tell ya, i love seeing dayn out there like that. Nothing like having a good dog out there with you like that. At the end he was right on point and immediately went to attention. Good to see it was a good trip out too
Dude your ears must have been burning. I was about to email you a new idea set up for the HLK Bergan. Ill get it out to you in a bit. Yeah man, he is amazing and thnx for watching until the end. It was a lynx that walked up on us. We had some Dall sheep run past us too. He didn't know whether to shyt or go blind. I bet he is still trying to figure out why those white dogs had feet on their heads!
The nice thing about small wood stoves is that small amounts of dry wood is easy to find along the way and can be easily carried ready to go when needed. Another nice thing is wood that is small and dry enough to break by hand burns best in them.
I was surprised how well it heated the water. I wonder how it would do in the winter. I don't want to think about winter until ive seen a few bear this green season!
