Everyone has an idea for what you should do for your kitchen door. You should do what you want to do. It’s your house!
@robramsay1945
@robramsay1945 4 года назад
Leave the kitchen door if only for delivery of supplies to a chef's kitchen; and also for historical reasons since it was once access to a community bread oven. Also, an emergency exit in an old home should a fire happen.

Hi Annalise and Dan- I wouldn’t get rid of the door for fire safety it’s another escape. Also you could put a kitchen garden out there with a little patio and then put a stone wall to separate from the road. Just an idea. It’s really coming together. Good luck!
@3_times_mum520

I agree😊 an the wall to the road 👍 It seems like a great idea. Then you can keep an eye on the boys, and keep them safe 😊
@teresacarle294
@teresacarle294 4 года назад
😉They could all easily climb out of the two existing side windows should they find a need to do so. 💡With the 2nd level loft window, it seems like you already have plenty of natural light in that area. Doesn't seem like you need a 3rd window in this location. 🗳Vote for bricking up the door for safety sake. Of course, that's after you've got all the heavy appliances, construction material & cabinetry you need through it. Only leave the door if you could create a wall by street to make it a totally private family space. Bricked in Options: (1) That would be an utterly charming nook to tuck a tall 2- piece hutch. Something with glass (or chicken wire & plexi-glass combo) doors on the top half of it to keep things dust free. Display & storage for both dishes &/or glassware. Solid doors or drawers on the bottom half for other kitchen staple pieces or even pantry items. 💐The best thing about a charming country kitchen is the addition of free-standing armoires & dresser chests that look like they've been collected by ppl over the generations. (2) You could add rustic wooden plank shelves between the bricks, attach doors & create a mini-butler's pantry or storage pantry out of this nook. (3) Other than that, you could tuck a full-size fridge in that spot. Although a super-size American appliance might not be your thing. 🌬Feel free to totally blow off my ideas! Just never met a kitchen, esp. w/a growing family that didn't need more storage in this room. ☮💛🌼

@teresacarle294
@teresacarle294 4 года назад
Respectfully disagree. 🚪Maybe a kitchen door that opens to a 🌱private back yard, a side patio for al fresco dining🍽, or a 🚘garage or family parking area for easy transference of groceries🛍. 🚫Not one that opens onto a public road 🚜 🚐 🚛. 🚨That positioning seems like it would only invite trouble, confusion & potential danger☠.

No! Leave the door! You need a quick exit. Also, if you plant herbs or something nearby you can take it in and wash it in the kitchen sink. You never want to remove a kitchen door, a kitchen wouldn't be a kitchen without a door! The kitchen is also used for muddy boots in the wet season, it dries faster in there too. You need that door. That's just my opinion, I personally never remove that door. Just repair it, it will be a lot cheaper and less time consuming. Maybe change it to an old style double door but in the same opening. Just cut the door down the middle and reuse it. That way it won't take up so much space in the kitchen when someone comes in. Just an idea. Love your videos, from Alberta, Canada.

Oh, my gosh. Door or no door? That is the question. Whether you have made up your minds, or not, it seems the question is still debatable through cyberspace. If I had to vote, I, without truly feeling and knowing the space would vote, door. Keeping that entrance that has been one for a long, long time, will maintain the true spirit of a welcoming and beautiful space. With careful planning (as you are doing) leaving the door will speak volumes when the project is completed. Besides. If it was the wrong decision, in time, the door can be removed. If removed now, it would be a much harder task to resurrect...IMO. Love you guys. Just adding more food for thought. C Yea for you, Thomas. Your first steps have been captured around the world. Hugs. The views from the farm are gorgeous. As for the chickens...we love them...but? Happy Thanksgiving to Canadians. Pumpkin pie time with gratitude and thanks in abundance. 💖

Sounds like they didn't get pollinated. This can happen if you have too few male flowers or not enough pollinating insects. I hand pollinated mine to help them along, still not every female flower became a pumpkin, since the plant knows how many pumpkins it has the energy to grow.
