I love the English countryside and the beautiful homes. It would be my dream place to live. My ancestors left Lancashire in 1654 for America.

i feel the same, idk where i'im from though i really want to do one of those dna tests that will tell me. one of my aunts says we're Irish and she did one of those tests for her son and it too said Irish but that is all i know about one side of my family. it would be cool to know where your family descended from!

My most recent Brit ancestor was buried in Prescot in 1875. I've always wished I could move there from the US, and this show is at least partly responsible! I'm an unapologetic Anglophile, my DNA has tested several times approximately 86% Brit, and I can name all the monarchs in order since at least Aethelred the "Unready." I'm 67, so that reassures me I still have at least most of my marbles.

In this episode, ETTC really managed to stick to the brief and offer houses with fabulous views. I loved the segment about the lady blacksmith; very interesting.

Yes lady blacksmith was the icing on the cake for this episode, brilliant

So interesting how this couple was sooo blown over by the mystery house yet once sitting down with the hostess, talked about more weekends of looking. I understand that when you see something for that very first time, you are ga-ga then in retrospect, think clearer, wondering if there is something better down the road. I wish them luck and as always, wish the show would have an end of season, showing us where all their couples eventually bought and settled. Would be such fun to get the chance to revisit the couples. ☺️☺️

Another fantastic episode with Ginny as host! The mesmerising English countryside underscored by the literary history of Yorkshire made is so endearing to watch. The segments featuring foraging and blacksmith were very fascinating.

How many holiday lets can the UK support? So many ETTC episodes feature couple wanting a business potential. Or are Brit’s just unimaginative when it comes to business ideas? I wonder how many of those looking for a holiday let business succeed in carrying on a business for 5 or more years?

I always ask myself that question as well. The house seekers often don't seem to have done much market research on the need for holiday lets nor do they seem prepared for the work it entails.

Agreed, and when it's not holiday lets it's glamping!

I often wonder if these couples who buy large houses consider the cost of heating them over long winters up in N. Yorkshire, not to mention the cost of electricity to keep them lite throughout the winter! Love the last house but I am a practical person! ☺️☺️

A countryside house is ideal as a holiday house for changing the atmosphere if you have to work and live in a city. People who can work from home, such as tech-workers, business owners who don't have to travel a lot, can really enjoy a life closer to nature, and with less pollution in countryside areas, while cities are becoming more and more crowded and polluted

I live in Australia. I know from my son testing his DNA. That I am around half Scottish. Then some English and a touch of Swedish. I eat like a British woman would. Even though my ancestors came over a hundred years ago. That's what we still eat in Australia. British food.

People like Chris, all over the country, damaging woodlands when proclaiming to not damage them... I wish the programme would stop highlighting these people, I find the segments upsetting.
