I find it amusing that at the start they wanted to move because they felt their bungalow was too big for them once the kids moved out but each of the homes they looked at are even bigger.
People usually say what they think the need to do, but when you see these beautiful homes the get you, and every thought you had goes out the window. I say if I were younger, I would move to England just to find one of these beautiful homes.
I have been a House Hunters International fan for years, but I like this series of “Escape to the Country” much better. The house buyers are normal people, who haven’t been dramatized, and you get to see more of the houses with a sprinkling of history and sight-seeing. Lovely series. Thank you for sharing!
That's exactly what I thought! That baby girl with her head of hair is beautiful! I can't believe she singled her expression of love to one child. It ruined the whole episode because it stayed with me!
I was heart broken for the other grandchild. Uh, so gross, and being online will be a constant reminder for the whole family. Just so so sad all around.
People are too sensitive. I'm sure she just worded awkwardly, and it came out sounding wrong. If she wants to have easier access to the "other child", that must mean she loves and wants to be around her also. People get bent out of shape for nothing.
Did she just say that her grandson is the love of her life? .....but she has 2 grandchildren! How must her other child feel to hear that! She doesn't love the 2nd grandchild (from her other child) as much? That's just mean!
One of my favorite programs ever. That and the one about moving to a market town are fantastic! Hope you will continue to post these shows as they become available.
i didnt notice if they had a son and a daughter but it seems like they did so the mom of the daughter would be most welcome to babysit, than as the mother of the son, where the mother of his wife would be the preferred babysitter in that house. by the son's wife anyway. so i can see it if that is the case. :)
Laughable when the couple says the current house is too big for them, but want a huge house in the country. Recreation? Who has time when you have a house to Hoover and clean, and a garden to weed!
Lovely video. Love you Johnny ❤❤ Wishing you all the best 🙏🙏 gorgeous couple..I hope they chose well and are happy 🙏🙏 and George the farmer is so adorable..😊
I watch it for comfort, the beautiful houses, nice people and great Host's and on top of it, I slowly but surly I discover the UK! Yes, this show is my absolute favourite ever! Happy New Year to the whole crew, especially to Jonnie Irvin !! Greetings from Quebec ; )
Agreed. Comfort as I cook dinner. Sad they took it off tv that I watched for the last 4 yrs religiously until Johnnie passed. I want to cry each time I see him but will forever watch reruns💜🌸💜
They do if you are watching it on tv, there are some “full” episodes on here tho...we get it on tv here 🇨🇦 all the time, Id say buy one of them about 25% of the time. Plenty of posters of this show....look ones Ar least 45 mins long, better 50+
Me too, I preferred house number 1 to the others. It had the best layout for me, the bedrooms were all double and quite spacious especially that double aspect one.
I live in a retirement area in the U.S. and most people who buy here think that their grand kids and family are going to be visiting a lot. Few ever do. Count on twice a year at most around here. Save your housing money.
It's because American parents and culture bombard children with the message that leaving your parents is proof of adulthood and that attachment to parents is a sign of a loser. It's not the same in more traditional cultures, for example in continental Europe, where Sunday dinner with parents and extended family is a deeply entrenched part of the culture, as well as grandparents helping to care for grandchildren on a daily basis. The idea of not taking care of your parents personally is bizarre in many cultures.
i love seeing all these places and houses, i think all the junk between viewings is unnecessary and thankfully i can skip them on here :), but i do wonder if they ever actually help sell a property i've seen about 10 of these now and not once have any of the houses sold to these people. I wish they'd show more houses to them instead of all that stuff inbetween to give them more choice. i'm sure people were just lining up to have their houses shown on a national tv show to help them get sold so there should have been plenty to choose from.
I absolutely adore the sites, personal interactions and the views of the country!! And yes, they do sell. I've watched for years and have seen tons buying one they viewed. I ❤Johnny and his funny witty charm!
I felt very sorry for the pigs. I'm a vegan animals rights activist, and there isn't a safe place for me to go. Pigs are very smart. That's all I will say.
@@AS-yz2iz Thank you, for your KINDNESS. I AT FIRST THOUGHT THOSE WERE TEARS, lOOKING CLOSER, I CAN SEE THAT ITS LAUGHTER. AND YOU TOOK A TIME OUT OF YOUR LIFE TO RESPOND IN SUCH A CRUEL WAY? WHY WOULD YOU WANNA DO THAT ? HOW VERY SAD FOR YOU!
I have a sheer fantasy of living in a sea cave on the remote wild west coast of Scotland.I would be totally vegan-all life is precious-i would only wear an old grey robe for decency’s sake though few other humans would be about.Tending garden and contemplation would occupy my time.I would own nothing because possessions own you with constant care.Just the gift of peace to enjoy!
Coach houses were not designed to be lived in but to house coaches (close to stables obviously). The property (& windows) my be subject to conservation orders meaning enlarging them may not be allowed.
The schoolhouse was ridiculously overpriced, no real garden, no garage, 1 nice bedroom, the others poky, neighbours right on top of you. Who would spend so much to live like that? Renting a garage in the village isn't practical for them as they get older and no visitor parking either. The coachhouse had character but also no garden, just a cobbled courtyard. It is not what you envisage when you imagine moving to the countryside and it has a staircase that wouldn't be particularly safe for them as they get older or for young grandchildren.
Had two single kayaks like they are using and a double kayak in a similar style. Loved it. There was a lot of creek, marsh trails, and byways that these flat bottom boats could travel in 4-6 inch depth of water. If I was a photographer, I could have taken amazing pictures.
I would hsve picked the 1st house. It had nice curb appeal, better layout and felt more cozy than the others. The only things i would change would be rhe bathrooms, make them a bit kotr modern, update the kitchen a little for instance, change sink, and use the dining room as a library/office to free up the space upstairs. If i update the kitchen, i would make the island into a bigger one family can sit around and eat.
My favourite was the first house. It was new, looked cozy, and was set in beautiful surroundings. I don't like old buildings too much. They feel cold and too big, and just old fashioned. They are hard to heat up (and pricey too), they need a lot of maintenance (and not just the ordinary type, but a special one in case of historic buildings).
I really liked the exterior of #1 and while the inside is beautiful, it is not my taste. I really like the mystery house but would like more garden but they don't want a large garden and they are the buyers. Did not care for #2. Lovely couple. 😊
How pointless is this show? They build you up and then you don’t get to see the result! All they do is look at houses and often they don’t even buy the house they chose! You don’t get to see them living in it.... very disappointing.
z that’s my point, my illiterate friend. If all I wanted to do was follow people LOOKING at houses it would be great. But I want to see how they move in and make it their own too. You seem to have taken my post rather personally...✌🏻
@@joannamallory2823 we have multiple versions of this show on the HGTV channel in the US. All of which do show the outcome of the couples choosing at least one of the properties they were shown. So yes, I agree...it kind of is the point. I too would be highly disappointed if I watched a show like this all the way thru & they didn't deliver. Luckily, the only reason I am watching this vid is because it said Wiltshire! It is where a lot of my ancestors came from so I just came to look at the scenery!😅
If you're a married man, there's just no point in even turning up. IF you ever got your own way, you'd still be paying the price long after the mortgage was gone.
Inge, I am guessing that you are Dutch. I am American and I agree with you 100%. People eat much too much meat. Every meat eater should tour a slaughter house. They will have nightmares for the rest of their lives. The sounds alone are haunting.
Johnnie was a great real estate agent. If I wanted to buy a house, I would definitely go to him, but I live in the US and am not looking to buy a house at this time. I thought he did a great job in picking the 3 houses that he picked... almost makes me want to go live in Wiltshire! The landscape was beautiful! Thanks for a great video. I really enjoyed it. And that couple was a really nice couple.
The windows in house #3 were very small and I would think in the cold, wet, dark winter months that would be a BIG factor. The living room was a nightmare with nothing but featureless walls and a tiny window. Kitchen was so bad he just rushed them right through it. I kept wondering what the husband was thinking. He kept saying it (the house) had wow factor. I simply did not see it. All I saw was plenty of parking. Number 2 had the best views, but virtually no place for their two cars plus company. I'm not sure how they will manage that. The best overall with all the "boxes ticked" was #1. Because it was newer, it probably would have fewer problems looming beneath the surface. To each his own.
I loved the first house!!!! If only someone would buy it for me and move me from America 😆 Better yet, build me one just like it here in the most beautiful state! Washington State!
@@Dominini All states have there beauty! 😊 If only everyone could have the chance to see it all 💖 BTW I lived in Coalinga California back in 89. I have to say that the most beautiful route to take is hwy 101 from Washington thru Oregon and down to California. Although i did like Shasta lake too.
I want a home in the uk that has 4 bedrooms upstairs with a full bathroom, and a full bathroom down stairs with a large livingroom, with a dinning room & large kitchen downstairs with laundry room, a large driveway for 5 cars and a garage. How much would that cost?
As a kayaker, I would like to say the best place to begin is to put your kayak in your swimming pool. Practice getting in and out without flooding and tipping. Then head for lake, river, ocean.
Generally you are a "canoeist"....You go "canoeing" ( in a Kayak or a Canadian type. ) You don't go kayak-ing or Canadian-ing. I'm not sure how you describe a person paddling a "Canadian" if you describe a person paddling a kayak as a"kayaker" ?? Kayak has double blades ...Canadian has single blades. But of course this post is about houses.
As a sea and lake kayaker of 10 years... would like to say if you wear a splash deck your never going to flood your kayak. If your careful and have a stable kayak you are pretty safe from tipping....if your in a small kayak you may have more chance of tipping....I've never once tipped over and I started out alone kayaking...first paddle in the sea... got in it and paddled away🙂
Wiltshire is actually well known for its pork...& that's coming from someone that lives all the way over in Oregon & has never even been to England. Edit... I just got to that part in the video (read thru the comments while it was playing)!😅 In fact, I thought it funny he mentioned Calne as I have a friend staying there for a week right now.
@ghee cappy I was responding to the comment that there was no market in the UK for pork. I questioned whether the commenter was aware that Brits do in fact eat pork. I was not suggesting that they did not eat pork. It's one of the cheapest meats in the US as well.
Alex Klatt ,Bespoke means something that is made especially for the person. For example, bespoke tailors make clothes especially for individual customers.
I think this show is fake, because usually people who reach certain age downsize and also looking for smaller house This show always have people that are looking for bigger home and stairs ??? But the homes are beautiful
As home in the UK are expensive, the older couples are the ones that have money to spend on a new house. As for the stairs part, it is more of an American thing to have ranch style homes because we tend to have larger pieces of land, plus most homes in the UK are much older than most homes here.
People will buy a bigger house in the country because they want space for the family to visit and grandchildren to run around. As long as your family keeping coming around a bigger home is logical.
@z I hope I am allowed to comment since I am European: a LOT of elderly people downsize - less costs, less housework, less emptiness when the children have moved out.
@@CH-od8ni a lot of people on this show talk about downsizing but few of them really want to. If shown I downsized property, they usually say that it is too small. 😄
Apropos the first house ... WHY build a house (all 'bespoke' and apparently built by the current owners) looking out on hedges and a boring hill of a lawn ... and BLOCK THE VIEW, at the back, with a garage???? I will never understand the idiocy of some people. That is simply moronic. I don't care how 'nice' the interiors are.
