What a lot of folks forget....sapphire is not the end-all.....it is more scratch resistant but less shatter resistant. Mineral glass is more shatter resistant and less scratch resistant. IMO.....get mineral glass and apply a clear vinyl watch protector.....been doing this on my watches and have never had a scratch. Almost entirely invisible.
I've personally never done anything that would shatter sapphire myself, but over many years have done a few that would have scratched Mineral. I agree sapphire isn't the end all be all, but everyone should think about their lifestyle and the way they wear a watch to have some context around which option might be best,
@@ArtoftheDial...all true enough....my point is that you get the best of both worlds with a lens protector-over-mineral glass..... at maybe a $3 cost for a pack of three to use. Also meaning it should then not be seen as a deal breaker for some watches if sapphire is then missing.
I noticed that before I posted the video and debated if I should have held off as it doesn't really do anyone any good if they are not available to purchase. Hopefully they restock soon. I know they sold out and restocked before (I was in the 2nd wave)
@@ArtoftheDial Buyer Beware! - I ordered one of these a few weeks ago from a different seller on AliExpress as Escapement Time were OOS. "Yule global Store" who listed them in stock. A few days later the order changed to "Collected by Courier" then they contacted me and said they were out of stock and did I want a different style. I said no I wanted a refund. So they told me to cancel the order but I could not as it had been effectively shipped. AliExpress platform does not allow cancellation after it has been shipped. So after several days of messaging I am now waiting for an empty package to arrive whereby I can request a refund. What a pain! Now keeping an eye on Escapement Time shop to see if they come back in stock.
Come on, this not a dress watch but a field watch. Scratches gives character to it, remindes you the adventures you had (or not, if it is a physical workers watch, only remindes the owner to hard labor😜)
I agree once you have quite a few scratches on there, but it will look awkward with just a few - and people need to be aware that beadblasting isn't like brushing where you can actually "buff it out." It is the most casual watch I own outside of a 5600-Gshock and that includes a number of "tool" watches.
@@ArtoftheDialyeah and if I googled the watch model, I would also get all the details. The point of the video is to provide detail on top of visual representation. You failed to do half of that.
@@Lenduya MY intended point of the video is to provide visual representation and a few thoughts. I trust viewers are educated enough to click on a link I've provided and read a spec sheet. I provided a side by side with another very popular watch for the size representation. If I find the spec sheet is inaccurate then I provide numbers. The watch isn't available to purchase - so good luck.
@@ArtoftheDial I provided constructive feedback. It's up to you to take it or dismiss it, it's your channel after all. And the watch most definitely is available to purchase, so not sure what you're talking about.
