This week’s Op-Doc is Matan Rochlitz’s powerful film “I Have a Message for You,” about a woman’s extraordinary journey of survival and redemption. It’s a remarkable piece, both for the creativity of its visual approach and for its unusual combination of tragedy, beauty and catharsis.

Well I was crying when her father said he was the happiest man knowing she jumped. It angers me soo much that so many murderers got away. I really hope there is some justice in afterlife, anything really. Knowing all this, seeing it in thousands of videos in so many European languages is depressing.

@Primus I am sorry Primus but you are wrong. There are many books which well explained how a certain type of christianism started to develop in Germany and how certain ideas developed inside those communities allowed nazism to flourish. If you read the letters sent by certain US personalities like Ford and Lindberg who wanted to show their approval to the nazi philosophy you will read quite clearly that also according to them Christianism is a positive religion which promotes the progress of the human beings while judaism is something to remove asap as it doesn't promote progress etc.

I feel like youtube will play a crucial role against forgetting. There are thousands of videos in many languages. I know one channel in German called " zeitzeugen-portal" which also devoted many thousands of videos to WWII. I think yt can fill the role of teaching history by showing tesemonials by eyewitnesses better than books in school in Germany or any other place. That way is much more real than some pages in a book. That channwel I mentioned I know it had only a few thousand subscribers a year ago and now its 49000 and growing. Not a lot of subscribers yet but a good start considering that many of them wil be Germans like I and it also means the viewcount of the videos is higher than the subscribers.

Tobias Forge Try to stop living in the past! Nazi is what and who Donald Trump's father was and you can see by his followers that they advocate for the Nazi element. We are now in an age of socialism and far right conservatism which verges on the extreme. We all possess vestiges of both and we must sort out the important and desirable to keep as a society for all. Hating and separation is divisive and dangerous to United States citizens.

It hurts to think of her father waking up without his daughter in such a wretched situation, but the fact that he thought to give that message to a stranger who was likely to die in the hopes that she just might get it astounds me. I usually don't cry during sad movies or emotional scenes like the begging of Up or Mufasa's death because of the way I grew up. I've seen other survivor documentaries just as moving too, but I don't cry. Not that I try not to because I do get choked up, but I can't. A question thrown up at the end... when someone delivered a word-of-mouth message like that - I'm surprised there wouldn't be more effort to find out how the message was passed on. I'm surprised the messenger remains unknown.

The messenger was Phillipe. He sent the lady to ease his wife's pain. I have a hard time believing anyone could remember a brief encounter 20 years later...but you never know. I could be totally way off .

USMCMama you wouldnt remember a woman speaking to you in the supermarket but best believe that those survivors remember every little detail of the terror they went through. Especially in this heart wrenching situation. I couldnt imagine that anyone of them would forget a single moment of what happened.

Yeah it’s like something directly out of a piece of fiction 🤔

When she started saying what the woman said to her that night on Dizengoff Street: "Tell her I'm the happiest father..." I couldn't help but weep. These are miraculously brave, strong people. Not hardened. Strong. And this was an incredible story.

There is a reason that this woman was looking for her for over 20 years, that she never gave up. The message was meant to be given. After 20 years, she found her, out of 1000's of people she met/passed through the years. It was a blessed message. And it came through. And yes, it is ok not to believe in a god, but there is something out there much bigger than we can comprehend with our minds. Belief is a belief or a non belief, but it does not explain everything. There is a knowing around us, if we can quiet our minds/noise, we can tune in. Thank you for your message. A treasure.
