Yes permits are required over I think 2.9m. The trouble is alot of farmers especially in East Anglia regard the PUBLIC roads to be nothing more than an extension of their farm tracks. The 'narrow' roads haven't alter - its the tractors getting bigger and bigger that's the problem. The damage they do to the verges and edges of roads has to be seen to be believed. All the cops do is turn a blind eye.

Not sure youve ever fitted Duel wheels before but its best done on concrete and not in a field! I don't want to get even more muddy fitting them. Its common sense to move over for the bigger vehicle to allow it through! Plus dont know where he would back up too being that width its easier for the smaller cars to make way! 30 seconds of their time isn't the end of the world!
