Lol!! Thanks Mikko, for a long time my wife has been telling me I should put my daughters in the videos for a more fun variety, actually my younger one is definitely more fun in cam than I am LOL
This is the first video I have ever seen from this man, and it might sound lame but I can tell straight away that he has such a good heart, he loves his daughters, he's passionate about photography, and he kicked ass reviewing this kit! Thank you so much Ray, God bless you and your family.
Hahaha, hey Johnny thanks bro, and you're right I'm guilty on all of those counts lol. I try to keep it real with all of my reviews. You're more than welcome to check out any other one that applies to you. I reviewed lots of different things, maybe that's why my channel doesn't grow faster I'm not in a niche.
Hahaha thanks so much. You know something interesting my wife tells me I should put her in more of my videos and she's right. I actually have a small second channel reading inspirational children's books and she's in a few of those videos also
Hello Jesse thanks so much I really appreciate that. My wife keeps telling me I should use my daughters in my videos more and she's right. Good looking out
Those really give you the power to change the type of shots you can get. They're great if you have the space for them. And you're lucky to have two willing helpers for your videos :)
Hello thanks for taking the time to check out the vid, was alot of work to put together and you're right it takes alot of space I was gonna give half away but my wife said I should keep it she has an idea to put it to work. Yeah daughter's are great to have when you're a photographer lol
@@EncryptingJava awesome. Hey be careful with those fluorescent bulbs they can be delicate. One of mine started dangling by a wire but they were kind enough to send me a free replacement.
Very good video Ray I like your style nice and relaxed, yet you get across all the information needed/plus thoughts about improving products (which I try to do myself). Well done keep up the good work my man!
Hey what's up I really appreciate you checking it out and taking the time to comment it is one of my longer videos but yes the details are very important I learned that a few years ago when I review of a Windows phone one of my buddies pointed out all the specs I left out and from that point I learned to do as much research as possible.
Ray, you were great. You have a great personality and it comes across in your review. It really helped me purchase and set up the lighting for a project I’m working on. You’re the best!
No wonder they chose you to do the review. Very well done. I’d already purchased the kit but hadn’t even opened the Amazon box yet. Like most men, I hate reading manuals so i went looking for a RU-vid video. You fit the bill perfectly. Thanks.
What's up Edmund how are you? Thanks for stopping by and leaving that comment. Honestly these Chinese companies instructions leaves much to be desired I actually didn't read my neither LOL. Just plug and play though, challenge of using these coming up with creative ideas. Feel free to share your results once you get comfortable with it or if you dare even shoot a video review, no pressure LOL. I'm surprised how many views this video gets when many of my other in-depth videos don't rank.
Another great review, Ray. It just goes to show how much light you can get without spending a lot of money. I use a similar set with three lights for my indoor pieces to camera, you really can't overestimate how much this type of lighting helps for video production, especially for home RU-vid video production on a budget. Cheers, Dave.
Hello David you are so right. I used to wait for morning light coming in the window amd at night i would drag out lamps and the white balance was horrendous lol, now i can keep the iso low and just shoot. It does take time setting up though. Lights and a good Mic goes a long way for better RU-vid for sure.
Love your video, it was very helpful. Just opened my ESDDI kit today and was impressed with everything that they were able to fit into the kit. Your video was straightforward and very useful , thank you for making it. your daughter is a natural at this :-)
Hahaha thank you, my wife says I should use her more in my videos. Im uploading a how to skate tutorial today also. let me know how you get along with the kit.
@@Raychristofer your wife is right, totally agree. It was so easy to set up the kit as well as pack up after. Glad I came across your video presentation. Definitely subscribing to your your channel, thank you again.
@@christianaomakolougowe6266 you are in the motherland. Bless you. So many of us black people in america need to return there. Prepare a place for us and we will do great things
This is the best review I've seen of the Esddi Complete Studio Lighting Kit. Your children are adorable, great job. I hope Esddi gives you more product to review.
Thanks so much Little Richard makes me feel great when folks appreciate the video and take the time to comment like that. Yes there are cool company they sent me 2 product photography light boxes as well that I also reviewed
Thanks Franco, to be honest I feel bad now that I didn't iron the backdrops seeing how the company sent it out to me to review LOL. I highly suggest you look at the light Box review I did for the same company it's really awesome for product photography and it has a pretty seamless infinite background
Your video just saved me a huge headache of setting this up. Im glad I came across your video, it helped me set up my backdrop with much ease. Thank you!
Awesome my sister that's why I love making these videos. When you get comfortable with it please share your photos or videos I like to see what others are doing. Respect
Fantastic review. Thank you for even showing how to set up the lighting. I just purchased a similar kit from a different manufacturer and this helped ! Your girls are beautiful!
Hello Katrina thanks so much, you know so many times I watch RU-vid videos trying to learn how to do something and they leave certain things out and I want to pull my hair out so I just try to make videos as if I was the one watching them lol. Plz let me know how it goes with your photos when you get good at it.🤗
This is one of the best & most thorough reviews I’ve ever seen. I subscribed, liked & will be buying this whole kit based on your review. I’ve been searching for a beginner lighting kit for my makeup reviews. I so appreciate the time, energy and effort you put into making this video. I also loved how you included your daughters! 👌🏽❤️
Aww shucks thanks so much. Yes I try to be as thorough as possible with all my reviews. That's what keeps me from uploading more often. Let me know how it goes for your channel
Hello thank you so much, having young children the best thing when you're a photographer it's more fun and you always have subjects to take candid shots of
I am purchasing one of these sets today as I'm more into videography, however I'm quite new with lighting techniques. Your video and simple explanation has made put my mind at ease regarding the purchase and also (hopefully) more confident when I will use it. Thanks buddy
Awesome David glad it was helpful. Let me know how it goes. Better yet please share a link to your video when you make it. Just don't make me look too bad lol
You asked if I would post a link a link with the end result. Well here it is ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-w5FuhjIZMrU.html Thaks again buddy :)
Nice! I picked up a similar kit (3 - light kit, no backdrop) from Neewer for like $60 on amazon to use on product photography. Also added a cold shoe adapter for flash and a more powerful bulb.
Hello Mitch thanks for checking it out, that's great to know. I'd like to see some of your product photography it's a very technical thing and alot to learn.
Thank you heather I appreciate that, I don't think I did the best on this video but I try to be as informative as possible and answer all the questions people would want to see, big respect and thanks for the comment
Great video, thanks for sharing! You have a nice way of presenting. You have a calm, soothing approach, that makes you want to listen to the entire review.
Thank you that means so much, so many YT vids I pull my hair out because the person is drinking coffee and never getting to the point and leaving out important info , I try to make the video as if I was the one watching it.thanks for stopping by BP
You are very welcome, as it is much deserved. You have a great voice too. You speak clearly and deliberately, not too fast and not too slow. Have you considered voiceover work, radio work, or even being a reader for books on cd? I think you would be great!
Thanks bro, yes I have but that industry is like harder to get into than a brinks truck. for that reason I actually started a positive historical childrens book reading channel. really appreciate you mentioning that and if you have an angle on voice overs plz let me know. sometimes its not what you know but who you know.
Sorry, I don't have any connections, but I just thought I'd mention a short story. Last year, in a town near mine, a books on cd company had an open house, sold excess inventory at low prices, and allowed anyone interested to try out as a book reader. Each person actually went into the recording booth and read a sample. So see if there are any books-on-cd companies near your area, and you could approach them about auditioning. Just an idea. Good luck!
Thank you for taking the time to post this video. My daughter is looking for some start-up equipment for video recordings. This was very helpful -- not just for this particular product -- but for the setup in general. (And your daughters are lovely; your little one is just too cute!)
Hahaha thanks so much for taking the time to check this out. I would love to see your daughter's work when she has it up and running. Good looking out 🙂
Great review. I had one of these before we moved to a new state. The first time i Used it I did not realize it had all the wrinkles and it was hard to fix it in post. Your girls did a great job!
Hello Travis thank you. I'm really surprised how popular and how many views this particular video gets because usually when I review Chinese products it doesn't get too much traffic. By the way I made a comment in the video that you would never use all four lights at once and since I've gotten into product photography I'm constantly using all four at once lol
Hey there for cheap hanging purposes... I like to buy a rigid 1 inch thick"metal conduit", to hang the backdrop, it's easy to install string anchors if you use a stud finder to find the joists(beams) in the ceiling. Metal conduits are usually used to contain electrical lines, but they're affordable, and relatively strong.
Just finished watching your video, I’m sold. I hope you get commission. You seem like such a genuine and humble family man, I really enjoyed watching your review. You’ve gained a new sub. Keep up the fantastic work.
Hello how are you thank you, my wife tells me I should use the girls in more of my videos. I'll definitely try to incorporate that more. Glad it was helpful
Excellent video! I want to order this right NOW! The price is phenomenal. Beautiful family! I wish I had that exposure to photography at their young ages.
Lol hello thanks so much and I was wrong there are many times I use all the lights at once. I learned to shoot film in the eighties as a teenager and it helped me alot in that I don't need a complex automatic modern camera. Let me know your experience with the kit when you get it. Respect
Thank you! I bought mine in 2018, had to take it down for a remodel in 2019. Then Covid. NOW 2022, im setting it up AND CANNOT LOCATE THE MANUAL OF HOW TO SET THIS UP, ANYWHERE. Thanks thanks, thanks!!
JP Morgan from the Slanted lens says you should never use a reflector from below unless your doing a scary movie or photo it should always be high cuz that how the sun lights us naturally good video
Thanks man, what JP means is having the only light source coming from beneath looks like a horror movie but outdoors it's different. for instance you may be shooting at high noon and have deep shadows under the eyes or nose. Many photographers have the model hold the reflector at waist level to fill in those areas.
Thank you Anthony, I know the video is a bit long but I think it was completely necessary to explain all the nuances. I'm still trying to get used to being able to shoot whenever I want instead of waiting for the Sun. It's video isn't perfect there's a few things I wish I could reach shoot but like they say it's better to have it completed and not perfect than incomplete and never get started lol.
@@Raychristofer man don't worry. I did RU-vid videos and I use to bother myself about perfection but realized it will come with time. You did and excellent job and most importantly you Kept It Real!👍
Now that's how the proper review is done! Really great in depth, informative and fun plus with actual test shots! After seeing this video I will order my own lighting kit from Esddi. Thank you Ray and hope to see more videos like this from you! :)
Ah man thanks so much. Yes it's a lot of lighting. If you look at my early videos I shot them with a standard household lamp and the light was always Orange and I didn't know much about white balance back then. Makes a big difference having daylight balanced lights and a good microphone.
Thank you, I guess you could say I hit the ground running LOL. I started doing product photography with those soft boxes and I was wrong there are many times where I use all of them at the same time. Thanks for the comment
@@Raychristofer I have just purchased a similiar set of softboxes. Havnt had chance to test them out yet, but if my results are as good as yours then i will be happy.
@@Raychristofer I will,im new to studio photography so im expecting a good few test shots before im happy. Thanks again for such an easy to follow video.
@@darrylstubbs5221 hey one thing to keep in mind is those backdrops what kind of sin and they take a lot of time and effort to iron. You are correct about working progress and I was wrong about not using all of them at once. There are cases where you will need to use all of them to fill in Shadows in certain places if that's not what you want. I have not perfected it as yet either
@@Raychristofer Hi ray dont know if you can help, today i had to have my iso set to 1000 to get a fast enough shutter speed so my images were sharp. Is this unusual to have it set so high for this kind of photography,it worked fine but seemd to be quite high.
Great indepth review im in the process of making the transition of hobbist to pro photographer in my late 30's and the cost of kits are overwhelming and the reasons behind them. This kit was perfect and your review has sold me on it.
Hello thank you that's the best comment you could have given. Proud of you man. Please share your Instagram or website I like to see what others are doing.
@@Raychristofer wow thanks for the response the only social i use is photocrowd www.photocrowd.com/photographer-community/126816/ and i currently have only worked on it today a need to up my social game.
Lol, my son will love it. It’s on the giveaway section on amazon and although I didn’t win it it’s 15% off so it only came to $123. Still one of the best reviewers I’ve seen! You’ve got the magic for sure
Raychristofer I really appreciate your very clear, concise and very honest style plus as others have stated your daughters are amazing and very photogenic. I can definitely see why they wanted you to do more videos for this company
Hello Kev yes. And I said I wouldn't use all of them at once but I've been doing product photography of large items and I need every single one of them sometimes. Let me know your experience if you get it
Thanks Boss, its interesting in the past few days more people are seeing this vid and commenting I wonder if YT algorithm is kicking in. glad it helped you out let me know your results.
Raychristofer yeah I recently got the kit and put it together. I kinda got the basic idea of everything, but your video really helped explain everything in depth and what exactly to use it for. Appreciate it brotha
Thank you Jr for taking the time to say that. You can tell it took alot of time to shoot and edit this. You know what it is when I first started with RU-vid I had no gear and after a few years company started reaching out to send me free stuff and I it's like showing others some of the things I've learned so that they can reach their full potential. Feel free to share your photo results when you get comfortable with it. Respect
Hey, brother! I really enjoyed your presentation. Your daughter is so cool and smart. She's laid back like her dad. I think I will order this one off of Amazon today. You really made me proud of you because of how well you articulated the details of the item and points on how to use it. Your daughter's hair is just fine. It's REAL. 😃 Both my daughters wear their real hair, too. Thanks for the post. I'm from Los Angeles.
Bug Moe what you know?? Hey man thanks for taking the time to stop by and comment. Yes daughters are great to have especially when you're into photography.and natural hair in my opinion is more beautiful than weaves and hat wigs. did you see our sister from Africa win Miss universe a couple of days ago? So beautiful. Hey I try to keep it real and be entertaining and informative as possible with all my videos. Hopefully there's other photography gear you can benefit from also. I love California and I try to go to Yosemite and the Sierra mountains every few years.
Thanks DD, I never shoot a talking head vid without one anymore they really keep the color correct and more important I can stay at native 200 I so for best image. If you want to try doing a review for them I can talk to my contact. You do have a uniquely dark phantom of the opera style though lol.
@@Raychristofer lol I've got a pretty budget setup. I use the GVM 480ls and whatever other light I can find. I've been using that viltrox one I reviewed, but that's about it
@@DapperDop you definitely have the mood down fat. There's a Facebook group called Amazon photography Gear reviews that's a good place for RU-vidrs starting out to get gear to use for reviews.
hey man i'm really happy i found your channel. subbed. After viewing this i have decided that this will be an excellent investment for me. Really, i've only been using natural light - which is fine. Now that I have my rb67 my mind is exploding with ideas and i think studio lights can help me realize and come up with more idea ! thanks
Hey thanks my man and you're more than welcome. So is the cloth backdrops stay wrinkled even after ironing them and I recommend using rolled paper backgrounds but other than that it's a great kit. A few days ago I uploaded a review of the updated softbox only kits with LED lighting. Let me know how it goes with BRB
