It seems a little thick for such a small knife. That's really my only complaint about it. I feel like the sharpened pry bar survival knife era needs to come to a close.
Advanced Knife Bro Don't ruin the magic.... I'm actually going to just choose to unhear that and just continue to believe that your sheath flinging skills are the best on the internet.
Just bought an Izula 2. Always appreciate the grounded reviews you provide. Yes, I know it's not the same knife you review here, but isn't that internet survivalists do? .....impulse buy stuff after watching a youtube video........hence the term "influencer".........and you are a bad one my friend.......or is that good? Either way......I don't actually have the knife yet as I just ordered it from Blade HQ ten minutes ago, but I already know it's amazing because your dry english wit told me so. I freakin love this knife.........oh wait......I didn't actually finish the checkout process. Ok there, I own one now. Anyway, nice review.......I bought a T-Shirt from you too. Wait......this video is 5 years old? That's ok.....when I get my knife I'll sharpen it with my Wicked Edge Pro 3 and it will be so sharp it will slice through time back to 2017 and tell my other self to buy this knife sooner.......wait how did this Izula get in my pocket?
Yeah you can, if you leave one screw out. Forgot to mention- oops! I never cared much for a horizontal pull- but I don't like neck lanyards either. I prefer the pocket carry.
Mora Companion with the sheath clipped to the front jeans pocket is great if you want a medium sized fixed blade without the love handle poking or a massive pig sticker slapping your thigh. Can even reach inside your pocket with hardly any knife-pocket capacity interference. Moras and Rat 2's are knives that I keep buying duplicates of so I can give them away and/or have backups!
I like your leatherman carabiner. Nice knife a bit small handle for me. Looking forward to the Junglas II infomercial. It will be my first ESEE as soon as it's not more expensive than the bigger version
Bought it when selling better after market micra scales that cover most of the finger holw . Handle was to small for my hand and inserting fingerings hole and know have better hand purchase . Love this knife. Great steel easy sharpening and good rust prevention coating. Highly reccomend
Well done review as always. Do you know about the new Emisar D3, D1 and D1S lights? Emisar is the new sister brand of Noctigon. Would love to see reviews and your opinion on these....
So I use the Eldris EDC. I thought I would hate it until I started using it. It’s an awesome little knife. I would love to see a video on it. And get your thoughts.
Alas -- if it were a folder, that hole would be a great cigar cutter. But let's not dwell on what might have been. The real question is who would win in a battle between the Izula ant and that Spyderco tick thing.
Man, the handle is so short. I was excited about the loop until I realized that. What good is a loop if the blade falls on your pinky if you try to flip?! lol
The edge of mine rolls everytime I put it into its sheath. There is way too much play for the blade and the contact area with the cutting edge is 90° and doesn't flare around it like it is the case with individually fitted kydex. I personally can recommend this knife for a few reasons: It is very lightweight for the toughness and makes a good survival kit knife, you have plenty of options for the handle including numerous types of cord wraps (if you think about getting it just for cord wrapping I'd say go for it) and when the excellent warranty is considered the value is kind of there. Though I think you have to buy an aftermarket sheath or make one by yourself if sharpness is a concern (which it should... I mean it's a knife). Oh and I wish ESEE would have gone to a higher hardness on this tiny knife... 1095 at 58 to 60 HRC is still plenty tough for this size and would have helped with edge retention and probably decreased the rolling of the edge in the factory sheath.
+Mopar HEMI yeah... a ton of mounting options. Mine however does not edge roll in the sheath... I’ve used it a bit since he sent it to me... and while it hasn’t been razor sharp- it has maintained a good working edge the whole time. I plan on sharpening it soon, but it’s been fine for my mostly light use.
This issue could have been enforced by my pocket carry for a few days because there is way more force applied to the blade and sheath package than there would be if I'd just carry it on my belt in some random configuration. Still a huge problem for me because I am one of those obnoxious Edge Pro guys with mirror polishes and hair whittling edges which obviously leads to aggression and an abandoned knife. I see the Izula coming in handy when the primary blade is too fragile or expensive to do the dirty work like light prying. For the time you don't need it it waits in the backpack or so. At least in theory.
+Mopar HEMI yeah I’m not an edge pro guy... I just run it across my fingers until I reach the unscientific “good enough” metric. It’s a good backup knife- and it will live in the car camping kit along with the eldris.
Instructions unclear. Sent toddler out to play with knives while I took a nap. Now they're in jail. Should I bail them out or let them learn some good hard life lessons?
I've had my Izula for years and I love it. I put the micarta handles on later and they're way more comfortable than a paracord wrap. The Izula 2 is dumb and an abomination. Mine came with a Tek Lock so I can rock it horizontal when I'm upside down HALO fast roping out of HH-60 Blackhawk on my way to the grocery store.
I need something smaller than this but bigger than than the crkt survival tin knife.. I want a strong light skelitonized neck knife anyone got any recommendations?
I still can't figure why this knife is so expensive though... like damn, its about half the cost of a esee 5!? $60-$70 just sounds ridiculous for what you get. Yeah it's an awesome knife, but how can it be this much? Maybe I'm just maladjusted because I've been obsessing over Ontario Sp50s and the like lately
I like my Izula, but my hands are less manly and tactical than yours! Thanks for the entertainment while I have nothing else to do (actually I have plenty to do, I'm just trying to ignoe the fact).
