So I'm setting up a 40 gallon breeder tank with an E shops overflow In a 20th gallon long sump tank The compartment I have to put the protein skimmer in is 7" by 9" I've seen on the specs that it will fit because it was like 5.5 by 7 So I'm just curious to find out is that what about the dimensions are I'm sure you measured it before yourself?
Hi, if the base of the protein skimmer will fit in the sump, you're good. not sure what you're asking. you don't need any extra room, as long as it fits.

go to eshopps site and make sure you get the measurements of the base. i would triple check. that 7" side is the same as the 7" measurement for the skimmer you gave. hope that works.

+Kelly Peissner Kelly, that's what i thought. what was he doing down there? did he fall through the pvc into the sump from the tank? i'm sorry to hear that. it makes us feel helpless. sorry. you can of course put some mesh over it. you could also possibly cut a piece of panty hose and tightly stretch it over somehow....it won't rust. i was using them coming off the pvc into the sump with a zip tie around the pvc instead of sump socks for a bit. i may go back to them. i cut them in half and do that.

hey Greg. yes that is normal. that is known as dry skimming, as you may know. if you want more dark waste, turn up your skimming a bit to get more fluid into the cup.
I'm just curious when I keep seeing is looks like the older version with the Gray tube to adjust the flow and the height in the chamber the new one has a gate that list up-and-down Just wondering if it gives the same performance I'm trying to find stuff online but if anybody has any information would like to know?
+Kelly Peissner Hi Kelly. Are there no bubbles at all? Does it look just like standing water? Mine does that sometimes and I'm not sure why. All I do is lift it up out of the water in the sump until the water pours out, then I place it back in the sump. The water flows back in to the top and starts bubbling again within 10 seconds.
