Teacher Karen, you are really a strong teacher. I cried many times when adult students became rude, but now, I have learned not to take things personally. Thank you so much!
You're welcome! There have been several strangers from work who made me cry when I was younger. I got stronger because of them and learned how to brush them off and simply be "dead inside" when someone being rude to me LOL
I like the idea, "be willing to lose" because if you really analyze the situation, a teacher will never win fighting with his or her students, because they are not your level. Incase a teacher won, there's no self-fulfillment anyway, so it is better to lose the battle.
Thank you teacher Karen. I thought the best way to take revenge on a student was to close the platform and message the student, Oh! there must have been an internet issue at your end LOL 😂. I lost it. 😁. Now, I got the best weapons "Be silent" and "Don't take it personally. Thanks for these tips.
Thanks teacher karen for this informative video. During my 1st year as a teacher in senior high, I encountered those kind of students (the whole class) . It started with one very disrespectful student (the class pres.) that soon influenced the whole class. As a finearts grad, I dont have any training on classroom management and in dealing with those type of students. I was really culture shocked that time, even until now,I get pissed off whenever I see them in socialmedia. I like the part "lose the figh", ''let go and move on'' thanks for this video.
Being bullied as a child, being in front of bullies was my biggest nightmare so I did my best to learn how to handle difficult people may they be kids or adults. Know that we get better over time. Classroom management is something we develop as we get the experience the "difficult ones"
Just subscribed to your channel. Thank you for all your help! I do like to keep a "poker face" when I'm dealing with difficult students. Yes, if you argue back you lose their respect.
I think what you're ultimately saying is that, you aren't going to get them to say "you are right," even if you are. But in some cases you can get them to relax and cooperate if you tell them they are right, since they do have a point and have a right to be different, and let it go.
Thanks for sharing this Teacher,my students is getting ruder every time we have our class. and honestly since I'm a newbie ESL Teacher I did take it personally but after watching your videos I feel more okay now.
I agree with you, teacher. This is applicable in any ESL company whether your student is Chinese, Japanese, etc... Keep posting and give us more tips. How to stretch patient.. hehehe
I really admire you teacher karen ,.. kasama ka sa mga nag momotivate saakin .. i hope makakaya ko to . today is may first day in class , but waiting sa mga bookings . d ko ma explain nararamdaman ko, halo kaba at takot.. :)
Hey, excellent tips teacha Karen! I'd like to suggest though for your next videos to raise the volume of your voice because in order to make out what you say my ears hurt with the special effects. Thanks so much again! Such a blessing!
Hi Teacha Karen! I'm glad I came across your video, Ive been an ESL Teacher for a long time and it does irritate me to my core when the Students themselves don't understand and cooperate on their end. you got me on BE WILLING TO LOSE. 'coz that just hit the nail right on the head.. Can you share more tips in handling negative feedbacks? Thanks
Negative feedback is inevitable because we cannot impress everyone. I always get hut a little at first as I am only human, but I shrug it off and then I LEARN from them. I make sure they never happen again, thus I take a preventive approach. But if the negative complaint is not for me, let's say it's for the company, I just move on and say to my self the odds are not in my favor...ok move one LOL
That "move on" "lose the fight" and "pause" 😍. I'm glad to know that these things serves as an appropriate response to rude students 😆. I've been doing this and so far, nakakawala nga ng stress na dulot nila😆😆😆
Hi teach I applied your tip specially for my rude and sarcastic adult and it"s effective. Thank you so much teach.. now I'm waiting for new upload in dealing with students with tantrums because I always encountered it in my trials
Oh I'm happy to hear this! I'm glad that you get to learn new things from my channel. I just don't want our students to ruin our day because when I was new, I would dwell on these experiences and it's really a bummer!
This is all so true! Misery loves company, but the best response is to maintain your professionalism. All your videos are excellent, but could you please make another "example class with commentary" video? Those are terrific! Thank you for helping everybody!
Teacha Karen. I experience it earlier. Yung student ko panay flip her middle finger. I saw it na nung una pinalampas ko lang. But she keeps doing it and medj nainis na ko. I talked to her 5 minutes before we finished our class. Sabi ko sa kanya na okay we are done here. Why do you keep flipping your middle finger to me? Is there anything... Blah blah ganon. But in my most mildest and calmest tone. Nung sinabi ko na I want to talk to her parents natahimik na siya and yung kasama niya tumakbo na palabas. I chatted my TM na regarding about it and waiting for her response. I also put it in my remarks na ganon nga. Tama ba yung ginawa ko? Haha. I know in myself na tama kase if she can do it to me for sure she already do it to other teachers naden. I kinda feel bad because of the incident na yun medj degrading pala siya sa feels. ☹️
Better to report it right away via CS.. - student not following guidance then put noted that the student gave you the finger and refuses to listen. Better not to interrogate or question their actions, just say it makes you sad (but not really, you shouldnt be affected by this..not worth it) Then you did the right thing when you asked for the parents :)
Thank you teacher Karen I just completed my 33 class on my first week in Acadsoc and I have encountered a rude student. He kept on shouting at me in the Chinese language I dont even know why.
Ohhhh I can relate... but the broken part, not anymore. Though 9 years ago, when I got cursed and screamed at on the phone by an adult customer, I walked out and was in tears LOL. My point is, we get stronger every day to the point that when this happens, you still get surprised but you no longer get affected emotionally. You survived your first (of many) rude student! Focus on the bright side, there are more loving students who will be like a friend to you
Yey Thanks teacher 15 days na ako sa Acadsoc and I got 44 finished classes na. Yey Im always watching your videos if I need to learn something. It's really helpful.
Nako teach madami silang ganyan, pwede ka din naman magmura e basta nakasmile at nakamute HAHAHAHA o kaya palabasin mo nalang sa butas ng ilong tapos move on ka nalang after class :) hingang malalim tas inom tubig hihihi
Hello, have you had a student named Mari? I had the misfortune of having this rude student the other day and this was the worst student I've encountered on NC thus far.
I haven't, but I',m sure that in my 10 years of teaching, I have had students similar to her, they are our worst nightmare and we just don't have a choice but to deal with them
Never give away your power. Once you do, it would be difficult for you to get it back. What I'd do there is to continue to challenge the student without him noticing. I would also feed his ego and do my best to befriend the student (to get him to my side)
Hello po Teach Karen 😊 Ask ko lang po baka lang po may idea po kayo hehe. May required months to wait po ba to reapply po kay acadsoc? Or pwede na po mag reapply agad? Salamat po. 😊
Inaral ko lang. I tried to copy people I see on TV and it also helped to speak with foreigners especially Native speakers, had to work at a BPO company for about 3 years :)
Hi, teacha! I just passed the interview and I sent a message to my TM 4 days ago. I always up my messages and I just realized that he responded 3 days ago. Maybe the convo tabs had a damage or glitch. I immediately sent my details right after I have seen it just now. Do I still have a chance pa po? I'm deeply nervous.
Hi Teacha Karen... can Indians apply to ACADSOC too ? or is it limited only to Filipinos and native English speakers ? I want to apply too but I am an Indian
@@maybellawagan27 Aww thank you so much for replying, but I finished my AI interview and i was asked to take a training class, to become a teacher, but my trainer said I can't go further with my application :(
I likes your videos but sound effect always scared me. Why do you use so loud and scary sound effect like guns and horor movies sound. For sensitive people it can get scary sometimes. Thanks for considering changing this looking forward.
Thank you for your feedback. I got a feedback like this before so I ended up reducing the volume of the sound effects way way lower than this one. My apologies.
i had my first day yesterday and i wasn't expecting to have a 8 hours class straight and i've encountered many students, i think they're cursing at me in their language but I just laughed HAHAHAHA cause I don't understand them😂
HAHHAAHAH good for you! your first day and you are swamped but but but never plot schedules without breaks. YOU WILL REGRET IT and you will hate this job hahahah
@@TeachaKaren i am actually starting to regret plotting long schedules teacher huhuhu, i think i'm gonna faint hahahaha plus yesterday's salary was jud equal to my penalties HAHAHAHA
