Totally agree. I'm planning a trip to Japan, and I'll be using several of her video trips, nearly as is. I'm not that interested in urban Japan (lived in a major metropolis for 35 years, and have been lucky enough to visit several, urban is not for me anymore), but have fallen in love with rural Japan. She gives so much about this.

Beautifully edited and nicely narrated by Raina Ong. Hopefully she'll host more videos. I'm planning on a return trip to Japan in December. I would definitely love to take a ride on that train. Thanks for sharing the video.

Thanks again for a great video. One of the comments said that the viewer is transported vicariously to the places covered. It's an apt description and the cinematography is very good in this regard. Just one question: where do you guys find the music for the videos? It syncs beautifully.

Is it possible to do the entire trip in a single day? Given the trail from Tagagiyama Observatory to Kinpusenji Temple takes 1.5 hour. I'd like to explore the other part as well cutting down the chopstick factory and return to my accommodation in Osaka by day's end.

I have been twice from Osaka to Yoshino during cherry blossom season and it is truly fantastic! But very very busy, buy the train ticket in advance (even regular commuter train) because they are all full. Realistically, the train takes 2 hours, then you queue for the bus, which can wait at the entrance to the half way station for an extra 20 minutes because the road there is one way only. Then transfer to the next bus. It may take 1.5 hours to hike down, but when you add stopping to enjoy the views, snacking, shopping in the village, visiting temple, then much more. There are helpful english speaking people at the exit of the station with english maps and guide info. I would also like to visit Hasadera but it shuts at 5pm so to fit in you’d need to start super early from Osaka.

Is the hike down from the top of Mt Yoshino a strenuous one, and what is the path like i.e. narrow, steep, uneven, rocky steps? For someone like me who's quite unfit, I once hiked down a 800m mountain in Japan (45 mins) which left me with very sore and stiff legs for the next few days, so if there is any part of any trip that may require a bit more physical endurance, it would be great to mention it. Many thanks.

Hi there! How helpful these nice videos are. Thank you! I try to make contact with the chopstick factory but they only offer telephone and fax. No mailadres or contact through website. I'm from Holland and like to mail. Is there any chance you / someone can help me (after 3 years ;-). Visit in october.

1. Background music is to loud. 2. Let the working man explain what they are making. How do they make it? (Sorry but we all know what sake is....not how they are preparing it.)
@ken1548

agreed - background music too loud compared to the talking parts!

Absurd, you rush through temples in nine seconds, show a meal in three seconds, attend a religious ceremony in ten seconds, a handwork shop in seven seconds, a sake workshop in four seconds. This is no way to honour Japan.

Improve the editing, not for the first time, your videos are choppy, cut between scenes too quickly..irritating. your narration needs work too, more helpful information - details, e.g. distance between the points you are visiting. distance. speech...staccato
