Part 2 of Episode 5, sees us face the wrath of incoming storm Isha, which provides challenging conditions for, not only our fishing attempts, but for the preparation of our highly anticipated Pheasant lunch.
We're well aware of a common saying, "Big weather, big fish", but have yet to see this apparent myth proved plausible. With strong, warm South-westerlies and a nice chop on the water, if there is ever a time to see this phrase come to life, it must be now.

Love your videos they show and bring out the sheer rawness of every day fishing that most of our everyday fishers love and enjoy and go back for more. I've just been lucky enough to have just enjoyed a venison dinner, I reckon I could have eaten that pheasant dinner for afters, keep up the good work.

Hello Chaps, really enjoying your channel. Excellent filming, great personalities, great cooking, super locations and honest fishing (the tough days make the good ones sweeter). I'm 53 and have fished (and shot) all my life and you boys have managed to capture a lot of the essence of what it is all about, even the times when we're "not feeling it". Keep up the good work. p.s. it takes me about 20 to 30 mins to pluck and draw a pheasant and about 2 minutes to skin and breast one, I gave up plucking (!) years ago!

I use a bait spray by DNA baits called apex I reckon the oils and flavours draw fish in that's why sardines and mackerel work so well being so oily. Great video fellas always enjoy them 🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣

I always inject oils into my baits but if I'm honest I think it boosts my confidence more than the bait!

I'm the same...🙄😂 I bought a litre of salmon oil from Fishdeal a couple months ago for €10 (discounted) .... I also use cods-liver oil from the chemists... Some of these"fancy" newer oils are very spendy though... I also get my syringes in the farmers co-op for super-cheap...the tackle shop ones are a rip-off.... 😎👍☘️🍺

Nice to see you guys get some runs/fish after so many blanks. I will be interested to hear how your debate goes for the oil vs no oil. I have been on the fence about this one also, my fishing pal believes it makes a difference. But for me, I am not yet convinced. I do think it won't do any harm putting oil in the bait, but whether it makes bait any more effective I am yet to decide. I think if you have fresh enough bait well presented with natural oils coming from it, it would do the same job.

Brilliant as always lads,dd baits from prologic monster crab heard it here first 😉When things are tough sometimes a kebab rig works well use sardine and mackie chunks releases tonnes of natural oils aswell it feels wrong at times using them because you question your brain as it’s not natural looking…………All the very best 👍🏻🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👍🏻🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👍🏻🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Another great vid guys. Fishing those big lochs is proper challenging and disheartening a lot of the time. but some of them can hold once in a lifetime fish. It only takes a few seconds and a bit of luck so its worth all the effort. I'll bet grub like that helps you's through the tough days though. I had Niagara mooth when i seen that plated up!! At the very least ill be trying to make that sauce. Will probably try it with chicken first. Will try with a game bird when i'm confident i wont make an arse of it!!

Confidence is key when you're fishing, especially for winter pike when the going can get tough. If oil helps you feel a bit more confident, then it works. Realistically I think they make little difference to the fish.

Stunning lunch boys - and a fish or two on the banks also - result! Rather makes my usual ham and cheese sandwich and flask of hot soup on the bank look look very dull and boring to be honest! As for the ongoing debate about the use of oils in pike fishing, I am very much in Alex's camp on this one - I believe these overpriced concoctions catch more anglers than fish and I have yet to be even partially convinced of pumping my lovely, fresh baits with all sorts of oils containing chemicals, usually unfit for human consumption - give me a dozen fresh sardines/mackerel/herring/smelt, any day of the week! That all said, if the use of oils boosts anglers confidence to put a fish or two on the banks, that's absolutely fine with me. Will be very interested to see the results of your oils/no oils experiments over the coming weeks of the season and as ever thanks very much for putting these videos out for our enjoyment!

Yes mate, use barbless in other fishing, but not pike fishing, something to consider I suppose. Do you use them yourself?
@tedlock2
@tedlock2 6 месяцев назад
@@angling360 Yep; barbless on my lures (crushed barbs to be exact) and semi barbless when bait fishing. The only exception to this is when I’m lure fishing for Bass. Then I use fully barbed trebles. I’ve tried barbless but the take to fish landed ratio is poor.

Why oh why do we use barbed treble hooks when fishing for pike. Think about other fish of similar size, like barbel and carp. Would you use a treble fishing for them. No. So why do we reserve the use of the treble hook for the pike. At the very least use barbless or cut off one of the hooks to make it a double. Better still research using a single circle hook. A few pike anglers have been moving to circles recently and reporting no instances of deep hooked fish.

However, I do hope that it's made you feel better about whatever is obviously missing in your life.
