Kharim Rocabado Dave was a very angry drunk/drug user. They were clearly moshing probably having a good time, and Dave took it way too far as usual that's why he got kicked out of Metallica.

@@whiskeyman8289 I guess that makes sense to me, because Dave said as well as Metallica, that he was violent when having a bit of the drink in him, so good point! But also, Dave said in his face-to-face meeting with Lars that he is truly over protective with the people who are dear to him (2003-4 SKOM Movie), and i don't think Metallica saw that in him, because all they could think about was his "Awful behaviour"! But clearly, Dave admitted himself that he was an angry Dude in his day, and that he got more angrier when he saw how Metallica were growing much bigger and just feeling that pure envy of Kirk!

I think it was like this, Dave felt outside when they all were drunk and having fun in the dog pile. Phils was lying in the bottom, only one foot was stickin out. Dave took his chance, jumped on it..
