This band deserves much more recognition than they got, truly unique sound out of LA scene in the early days of the 80s metal scene and Dave R.I.P, was so underrated
You know it. Dave was able to cover and switch between the rhythm and melody sections like no other-look how he mixes it up on "Human Vulture", he's basically doing the work of two guitarists and it sounds absolutely amazing.
I knew these "kids" when they were just making it. (I was a local rocker just ten years before them) The loss of Dave Prichard was a heart break. Play on.
John Bush is THE man, what a voice, clean, clear and high to this day, awesome. Been into this band since their early 80's EP and they have never disappointed. New album is killer.
Damn! They haven’t aged a bit, he still got the voice and they sound like they did over 30 years ago, Heavy Metal will definitely keep them from aging.
Bush is awesome and we know it. With that in mind, Joey is such an awesome bassist (also plays with Fates Warning). When top metal bass players are mentioned, Joey's name is never mentioned. He is so fucking overlooked!!
Man this guys voice just does not age. I saw AS back in the late eighties in San Pedro California and he sounds as good now as he did back then. John Bush always delivers!
John Bush's voice is still amazing. A tip for the editor. when there's a solo being played, show the guitarist playing it. Not the other guitarist or a crowdsurfer being pulled over the barricade.
@@shawnbruce6934 Something. The dude is literally still in his vocal PRIME... as he approaches 60. That's impressive enough for an average singer but a power singer? I can't name another guy that's pulled that off.
Armored Saint has always been bad ass....Raised in Pasadena I had the pleasure of seeing these guys at backyard keg parties and at Perkins Palace with Malice, Sin..and Oden......J. Bush still has the one of the best voices in metal. Awesome memories. RIP David Pritchard
Got to say I think John Bush is the best of the early 80s metal singer still around today. He sounds the same and hasn't changed the way he sings. Not only does he hit all the notes but he almost sings them as they were on the records (phrasing is near perfect). Besides he always he had a killer voice for metal.
Bazzo Smyth Well, he‘s still great, but your comparison doesn‘t include the difficulty of the songs. Bush doesn’t have to go into the extreme highs that much for example. The songs he is singing are far easier to sing than almost every Maiden song and many Priest songs.
While that's true, it would be safe to say that Bush was the best for his particular style-every style has their heroes and John Bush was definitely the man then and he's the man now!
Bam Bamm I had my 79 pinto wagon that I got for 100 bucks...my stereo cost me more when I threw it in....good ol days....oh yeah and gas was like 90 cents a gallon
I concur gentlemen..."Santa Claus" brought me "Raising Fear" for Christmas in 1987 (cassette of course). Loved it. Soon after I saw "The Hell on Wheels " tour with AS and Helloween opening for Grim Reaper. Life was never the same after that.
@@anthonymartinez8190 I love Walls of jericho. Brings me back to summers in my room going through my collection couldnt wait to get a new album. Got omen and Halloween same day!!
Long time fan of Armored Saint ! 30 years and counting ! They are absolutely killing it live ! Good on ya mates ! Ps. My 9year old says “That Deadpool guy can sing dad .” I’m dying of laughter !
As far as retaining their intensity and sound in their old age...these guys are the best bar none. They smoke Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Exodus and Judas Priest. Bush is a KILLER vocalist.
There again I don't think he abused himself like a lot of other guys from that time. Just like Bruce Dickinson, took good care of his shop and it serves him well to this day. That's what happens when you maintain and keep yourself.
I don't think we can compare him to Judas Priest, Rob Halford has 70 years old and still sing great ! ... But yes John Bush sound impressive compare to other singers of his age.
Passion! You gotta believe in your own music! That makes it much more enjoyable to watch too! Bravo Armored Saint. Been a fan since the beginning. Wait for it...27:43.
One of the most underappreciated bands out there. Been following them for over 35 years and have never been disappointed. The only Anthrax album I own is when Jon Bush fronted them.
I got to see this band way back in the 80s when they 1st started in a club with about 2-300 people. There were also a couple other bands with them. WASP on their 1st album tour and Metallica (just came out with Ride the Lightning). John Bush sounds as incredible as he did way back then.
Holy Shit. I haven't thought about this band since that Metallica/Armored Saint/Raven show at the Arcadia in Dallas. What a fking time to be young!!!! Hell yeah!!!!
Every metal band should have a spot in their roster that says: Bass: Reserved for Joey Vera If he hasn't played with them already, he probably will. Can't blame 'em though. He's a great player.
so fucking great to see... what a show... one of the most true bands in heavy-metal history... great songs, great sound, outstanding voice... i remember that day back than, when i was visiting my record store in munich and saw these two "first" albums - march and delirious... - wasnt sure to buy... bought metallica`s ride and kill`em... but every saturday we returned to look for the new ones, i was some kind of electrified of these albums... and then, one day, i was sure and bought the albums... at this time i was 14/15... and it was right... alongside all these thrash and speed metal bands this time, there was no more breath for truly ass-kicking-heavy-metal... now im 49, still listening to all the genres, but seeing this live-concert is like born again... awesome, great... thank you so much, armored saint... p.s. here in germany, we love you.... because , to be true and honest are still values, we love... :)
I went to Starnberg on a school exchange in 1989, there were a couple of trips into Munich on the s-bahn while there and I remember a massive record shop called WOM, (World Of Music, I thought it odd that it would have an English name, it's not like we have WOMs in England) which I really liked - too young to appreciate how nice a place Starnberg was that I liked a record shop, getting drunk at 15 (nearly legal in Germany), pulling a German girl and spending the old English 5p coins in vending machines that thought they were German 1 Deutschmark coins... worth about 6 times as much. Got some nice rock and metal vinyl at WOM - no Armored Saint though. Wondered if it was WOM you were shopping at too.
Fucking A. I've loved Armored Saint like forever. Way under rated. They should have the fame Metallica has. I was fortunate to have met Dave Pritchard in 1988 when they opened for MSG. RIP
Oh man! We’re all kids again here. I was there at the beginning for this amazing band. I can still remember Dave and the guys handing out flyers for shows at my High School. Seeing them at Troubadour on a weeknight no less. Eating burgers with Dave (RIP) at Ricks Burgers, Watching them record their intro tape at Pedrini’s Music for the Perkins Palace gig! Seeing them rehearse the sword fight show intro at Auntie Em’s and finally seeing them absolutely KILL IT! at the show! I’ve always felt a special place for them in my heart as an LA kid. It’s taken too long for them to get the respect they deserve. I was so glad when I heard Jeff was part of the fold! He fit perfectly and to have Phil bring it all back home. This just throws me back and makes me so happy sitting here in Covid isolation!!!
Oh MAN! The original lineup (save for Dave Earl Pritchard, God rest his soul) and John Bush sounds like he did nearly 40 years ago when March of The Saint first came out. Thanks so much for posting this for us long timers (aka the 50-somethings who wore our denim and leather proudly long before most of the people in this crowd were born.) Keep kickin' out the jams, John!
Grest show!! Such a tight band and John's voice is amazing. The new album is absolutely amazing and every bit as strong as anything they have put out over the years.
They absolutely killed it🤘💞🤘 Awesome performance! Holy fuck his vocals absolutely mind-blowing! so much power still! Bar none one of the greatest metal singers period!!still to this day😮
JOHN AND THE BOYS HAVEN'T LOST A STEP IN 40 FUKKIN' GLORIOUS YRS OF ARMORED SAINT MAGNIFICENCE!! VERY IMPRESSIVE FOR A BUNCH OF GUYS IN THEIR 60S, LIKE ME!!!
What other band of high school mates has ever turned out to be anywhere near this awesome?? And still together - and STILL AWESOME - 40 friggin” years later! Don’t miss the most METAL shakin’ of a shaker starting at about 23:30.
In my opinion one of the most underrated bands of the era and genre. John Bush sounds exactly like he did 35 years ago. Amazing. Great band if you love some straight forward nothing but kick ass metal.
I have loved armored saint since the beginning and Jeff Duncan since his Odin days these guys kick ass !! I met a couple of them at one of the annual Dime Bashes super nice guys !
Been a fan since it began and will be a fan til the end! The most underrated band of my lifetime. He says it all right before "On the Way!" I ask this: "what would have become of them if JB would've taken the job singing for Tallica? We would have been deprived the experience of the gift that Armored Saint has given us!!!! Up the SAINT!
