I bought a used one for 200 bucks, and the previous owner decked it out. It's got some EMG pickups (I don't know the specifics) and some arrow type designs on the frets. It's an excellent guitar for clean, classical style soloing and metal riffage.
I have this guitar but spent over 900$ on it for pickups and an original Floyd rose( also modified). I love it. Plays like a fucking beast! Wouldn't new a backup either
good review. i have been doing research all day long on my next guitar to purchase and you helped make my mind up. the m-100fm it is! this was my first thought all along but then started to look at some rg series from ibanez. definately going with the LTD. thank you.
The M103FM has the same specs, but it has HSS pickup layout, (Humbucker, Single, Single), instead of HH (Humbucker, Humbucker) like the M100FM. The M103FM also has a maple fretboard instead of rosewood on the M100FM.
I have one (see through black flame maple) that I stripped the truss rod nut. Can't find one to fit it. The he fret work on mine was okay but needed some filing on the edges. The 12th fret inlay was not level, it sticks out at the bottom edge. But it plays nicely when operational. I purchased a LTD EC256 Dark Brown Flame Maple that is awesome. Getting a LTD M-200 Black shortly to replace the M100.
I have one of these, good guitar for the money except the pickups are muddy and unclean as you wouldn't believe. The neck is fast and you can get the action fairly low without much fret buzz. I replaced my stock LH-150 pickups with Dimarzio D Activator 219 and 220's. Now it sounds a ton better.
Thanks for the review. Haven't seen you in awhile but I must say that mohalk look on you is killer. I always felt back in time with that 80s Cult look you had.
Omg, was looking for a vid on this guitar because I'm thinking about picking up a used one and saw this. Guitar max lol! The style sure has changed a lot in the last 10 years. Great vids tho!
That's odd. The bar should just slide in, and then tighten down with the little sleave. And yeah it will be difficult to tune compared to a fixed bridge guitar.
Great review.. going to buy this one.. can you plz do some lessons on egyptian or arabian sclaes dont know what are they called and also some of different scales to improve speed.
thanks maxxxwell brother its really helpfull and i'll be checking all your videos .. i just found your channel some days ago while i was searching the reviews of LTD m100fm and i knew everything i wanted to know about this guitar.. im a little confuse on which guitar to buy can you give a good review between razor back bolt lightning version and this LTDm100fm which one is more better to start learning metal or just reply me which one to buy . And im an intermadiate player. hope that you will be uplaoding some good lessons i checked some of your videos on scales you uploaded those were helpfull . keep on rocking \m/
I think they would both be very good choices. It really comes down to looks and preference. One thing to consider, the Razorback won't balance as well, because of the body shape and it's less convenient to carry around. Those might be small details though. I think either one would be a good guitar for you.
Jesus man. Where the hell did this come from. Probably the best playing I've heard from you. But I know as you got older the less is more is best at times. Lol. Killer channel. Just happened to to find this one. Looked familiar so I looked and yup. I was subbed it was indeed Max. Heman on guitar. Lol
There is one o these for sale for like 250 bucks second hand.. I think im sold.. Been wanting a floyd guitar again for a while now.. tried convertin a strat body but due to lack of proper tools i fukt it up xD... Luckily it was a cheap body.
I have the exact same guitar, the problem is that I cannot find a tremolo arm anywhere. I'm thinking about ordering one online, but I was worried that because it was a Floyd Rose Special, the other Floyd Rose aems wouldn't fit. Are the arms universal?
Hard to say. The rhoads is a totally different body shape, and I've found that they don't balance very well. Lots of nice dive. But all the JS32's have very nice necks and frets. Between the two, I think this one is better, but only a little. Might just come down to personal style for you. They're both good guitars.
+Cue Zephyr I'm "dating" with that guitar some weeks.. There's one of these on a guitar store near my house, and I'm buying it today *-* Can't count how much times I've seen this video and thousands of other demos :D
Tal Kogan if you gonna play rock get any guitar really but if you dont know how to use a floyd rose tremolo system then find a guitar that has a vintage fender tremolo(usally on vinatage fenders) or a fixed(some schecters have fixed) or tune o matic(usally seen of eppiphones or les pual shape guitars)but if you can change tunnings then go for it
ok, so i ordered one of these ltd m-100's and it is on it's way. have you experimented with any other pups that sound good in this particular guitar? I play mostly heavy stuff and am looking for a nice smooth heavy distortion without the piercing highs and booming bass. something well rounded with a good bell mid tone and an overall balanced sound. I am so particular with sound, but am not as well versed in pickup models as i should be for the years i have been playing. I am thinking either a seymour duncan model or one of the dimarzios (bridge only at this point) and nothing active. any help would be appreciated. thanks bud.
+Ron Mielcarek This is funny. After putting in the pickups etc., I decided I prefer a bigger neck. The LTD is for sale with the Dimarzios in it. I ended up spending more and bought a Schecter C1 FR 6.
Scott N Yeah I got that guitar and didn't like it one bit, and sent it back 2 days later in favor of a Jackson dinky (that I really like). Hard to beat the speed neck on a Jackson, and I will probably be a Jackson customer for life. Just fantastic playability.
JEM Jr would be a bit better, but it'll cost more. Maybe try and find a used ESP LTD M300? Those are excellent and will probably be cheaper than the JEM Jr.
Danilo a it's made in Indonesia. I have this guitar and I like it quite a bit. I am looking to put different pickups in it, though, because the stock ones are pretty dull. Plays great as long as you have your tremolo set up correctly.
