Espee Railroad Services along with Access Railway Services launched their containerised scrap metal train at Canberra Railway Yard on 6 March 2015. Guests and media attended the event and then travelled on a special passenger train to Bungendore to witness the freight passing (see here departing Queanbeyan). The scrap steel train is an alliance between Espee and Access, utilising CFCL Australia equipment, taking the scrap to Port Botany for export. Espee is a wholly-owned business of the Australian Railway Historical Society (ACT Div), supplying much needed funds for heritage restoration projects - such as 6029 - the largest operating steam locomotive in the Southern Hemisphere.
