U Conn needs to start renegotiating Dan Hurley's contract and offer him enough money that the Lakers won't match. Dan will hate coaching the Lakers.

It's not about money. If that were the case, every team would just buy the best coach. He's got a really good contract right now, I don't think he will uproot his family for the pressure that will come with coaching the Lakers. Could you see him screaming and yelling at D'Angelo when he doesn't want to make his shots. Let me know how that works out. 🤔

@@anthonydavis264 he’s flying out rn…meeting with the Lakers tomorrow. They want a deal done by this weekend. DLo isn’t guaranteed to be back because he has to opt In to his player option but even if he is, coaching matters.

Hurley, needs to have such a major major contract fully guaranteed, that the Lakers would just have to let any superstar walk, before they could financially fire Hurley that's the only way for the coaches to stop this superstar complains coach is fired.

If the Lakers gives him a long contract worth a lot, I don't know how he turns that down. But ultimately, Uconn will be OK. The worst higher they've made in my lifetime was Kevin Ollie. Which was a dam good hire. Dude won a national championship in the AAC.

If college coaches were a great fit for the NBA, more would make the transition. He's not going to control these NBA guys, they have been to college already. I remember when Phil Jackson coached, he told his team, read this book and, run the triangle, it works. His yelling was at the refs not the players. If they got down by 20 points he told them, you got yourself in this mess, you can get yourself out. Run the triangle, won multiple championships. 🏀

Maybe his offense would work fine, but everything is SO different from college to the NBA, everything. College coaches haven't been successful in the NBA, the player-coach communication & relationship is hugely different, and the degree of day to day scrutiny by a direct superior is much higher (no GMs in college). Also, you don't have to defer to your superstars in college.

NIL changes many things with the college game now. College coaches are no longer the ones in absolute control anymore. The college players are the ones that have the leverage and power now. If Dan wants the NBA challenge, the immediate opportunity for him is right there

I hope Hurley is part of a rebuild. If the Lakers double-down on this aging Lebron team and waste a draft pick on Bronny then I hope they go into the cellar for the next half decade. I been a lakers fan all my life but I absolutely cannot stand Lebron

Am I missing something? LaFlop still runs the team right? How is that going to work? The only thing I can see is if as long as LaFlop is there he needs to coach too because it will always be someone else's fault until there is no one left for him to blame. Stay at UCONN Hurley. You will be much much happier there.
