Hurley is the coach the Lakers need. Experienced and the best available out there. Lakers need to build a culture moving past Lebron. They can't afford to get a JJ and keep changing coaches every two/three years. The franchise has to have consistency over the years and start thinking life post Lebron. I hope it becomes reality. That would be a solid move.

Call me crazy but i think Leflop just wants to get the best coach to train Bronny and develop his son. Lakers aint going to win a Championship this year. Thats obvious. Heres his one year to play with his son and have the right coach for him to learn from. I hope to god that Dan stays at Uconn.

The new HC will need to get buy in on defense and rebounding. Lakers averaged like 118pts per game. second in the West, behind OKC, but they gave up 117 pts per game. Third worst . Is this not obvious?

It was a silly idea in first place.. Redick (coaching career is nonexistent, far as I know..maybe kids in youth leagues) would go from zero to 100mph. Lakers job is not just any job..not a place to learn on-the-job. Expectations are extremely high (no kidding). If Hurley hired, it’s to build long term with a known commodity in one of the biggest college programs. If Redick, it’s purely a “see what happens” gamble for short term (with LBJ still there for a last go-around).

This would be a great move for the Lakers but I wouldn’t do it if I was Dan Hurley. Lebron has a history of souring on coaches rather quickly. I don’t think the Lakers are close to a championship unless they can get another star, they will be a first or second round exit at best. You can easily just be the guy fired after 2 seasons like Darvin Ham was this year.

Lebron might play max of two seasons. If the Lakers get Dan he will probably get a 5-6 year contract as far as $16m per season as some reports. Lakers is not firing the guy with that money in the line.

@@gugy68 the Lakers will be paying like 3 coaches this year. If I was Hurley, I would need assurances for my job, which I don’t think the Lakers can truly fulfill. Every guy gets a long term deal when they are hired, that doesn’t stop the team from firing them when they think it’s time.

Lebron will be playing one season two max, his comfort is not the priority, it’s about winning a championship within the next five years. AD doesn’t want a coach that has ties to Lebron James, he wants a coach that will make him the 1st option in the offense and will to tell Lebron that most of his touches will come off of back door screens and catch and shoot opportunities.

@@gugy68 when has money prevented a team from moving on from a coach? We have just seen the Bucks and the Suns fire their coaches after 1 season. You can say Lebron is still not a big factor but he is even at this age, if there is any problem they will still capitulate to Lebron because he’s still so good. Lebron has never been in a situation where he is forced to play for a coach he isn’t fond of and his love for a coach quickly wanes just look at his history. If I was Dan Hurley, I wouldn’t take that risk for the Lakers, you can easily be out of a job 2 years from now.

We have to move away from elevating LeBron to All Star status. Yes, he fills up the stat sheets, but lets opponents drive by him, cannot guard his man for a game, flops & complains continually like he's a two year old. KOBE knew when he couldn't compete on both ends of the court with intensity. LeBron hasn't faced that. Carmelo finally came to that realization. JJ Reddick has a huge push from the Klutch Sports personnel to sale us into thinking that he is the next Pat Riley. The biggest flaw of JJ Reddick is when he insulted AD when he placed him on the third team All Defensive player.

Larry brown coached in college went to nba worked out for him chuck daly coached high school went and coachef college then went to nba worked out for him. There have been others. There have been some that did not work. It is about the coach not wether they have coached in nba or not.

This is ridiculous. We’ve lost our minds. Dan Hurley is a coach. In other words, he was NEVER good enough to play at a top level. JJ Reddick is one of the greatest college players ever and played in the NBA and had a solid career there. Who knows more about basketball? Dan Hurley is a coach. A coach. They’re just luckily to be around these players. Do you think Van Gogh’s art instructor played some role in the creation of Van Gogh’s brilliant art. Coaches are the most overrated individuals.

There have been lots of coaches that did not play in nba that were and are good coaches in the nba just because you played in the nba does not mean you can coach.
