It feels like the A's are going down the route that happened with the Arizona Coyotes. Horrible ownership burned bridges with everyone in the area, moved to temporary home in a building not up to the major league standards while a proper stadium was to be built, then stadium after stadium deal fell through until the NHL couldn't ignore it anymore, forced a sale, and now they're moving to Utah.

Well you don't need t worry because no tax money is going to the stadium of the A's. its a bond, and its paid back with interest. There is no free lunch. Mr. Fisher has to spend his $1.1B first before any money from the State is given to the project. Mr. Fisher does not OWN the stadium. In fact after 30 years he can purchase it. If the Las Vegas deal falls apart which is at 50% right now, it will piss off the rest of Major League Owners and force John Fisher to sell the A’s. If anyone has any doubts if John Fisher is horrible for sports, I suggest you take a good look at the San Jose Earthquakes of the MLS which John Fisher also owns. Since he purchased the Earthquakes the franchise interest has fallen in the Bay Area. John Fisher does not market them. Half of the people in the Bay Area don’t even know they exist anymore. Losing seasons every year, another run down stadium next to San Jose Airport and of course he uses the Earthquakes for personal profit. Sounds familiar doesn’t it?
@camicawber

He's the worst, and the league should have forced him out by now. Sell the team, keep them in Oakland.
@chrisguardiano6143
@chrisguardiano6143 19 дней назад
To make your point about John Fisher & his inability to market the Earthquakes even more valid, Bay FC (the Bay Area's women's soccer team who are in their first season in the NWSL who also share the same stadium as the Earthquakes) have outdrawn them in terms of attendance at every home match so far this season. This is because unlike John Fisher, the owners of Bay FC made a strong effort to market the team from the moment they were announced as a franchise. Then on top of this, Bay FC also collects 100% of the revenue that is generated from home games even though they play in a John Fisher built stadium. John Fisher does not get any of those profits. In addition to Bay FC, more soccer fans in the Bay Area are also supporting the Oakland Roots of USL which are a fan owned club. Until John Fisher sells the Earthquakes, they will continue to be a distant third in popularity in the eyes of Bay Area soccer fans behind Bay FC & the Oakland Roots & be the worst run team in MLS.

I don't think the insult is to Sactown fans... it's to baseball who allowed an MLB team to move into a minor league park for an owner who can't name a player on his team for fans to get excited about.

Nobody cares about Sacramento except people in Sacramento. It’s a lower level city. Strictly 2nd tier status to LA, San Diego and San Fran. Sacratomato is the home of that Kings squad that could never get past the Lakers LOL

lol it’s a fine deal this is all non sense talk like the A’s are going to stay in Sacramento hahaha ya right and the Tropicana will be demolished soon and the building of the stadium begins. Stopped question rich

Las Vegas is a tourist attraction, so the A's are going to fail here miserably. not a stable fan base.

I mean the Raiders and Golden Knights do just fine. You just need to have a well run organization and fans will be there.
@camicawber
@camicawber 20 дней назад
@@KevinQ25 Having "a well run organization" is going to be a problem, because the organization is going to be run by the same cheap, cowardly, and disgraceful POS who is running them now. I'm also not sure that the success of the Golden Knights and Raiders says anything about the potential success of the A's. First, the Golden Knights play 1/2 the number of games and their arena is less than 2/3 the size of the proposed baseball stadium - which will be the smallest in baseball. (I think Tampa's capacity is technically smaller, but that's because of tarps they put on most of the time. They could take those tarps off and have a capacity over 42,000.) The Golden Knights were also the first pro sports team in town, so they caught fans that way. They originated in Vegas - a source of local pride. And then they went to the Stanley Cup Finals in their first season. That's a lot of momentum. The Raiders play the country's most popular sport (by far) and they only have 8 or 9 home games. Almost all of those are on Sundays. Real easy for a lot of the country to make a weekend out of their team's visit to Vegas. And while the Raiders also came from Oakland, and also haven't been good for a long time, they do have a national following. The Raiders are iconic in a way the A's just aren't. So the A's will be the third team in (making Vegas the smallest market in the country with three teams), their arrival will be shrouded in controversy, and their current "brand" is total incompetence. The A's may well succeed down there. But there are reasons to expect it's going to be rougher for them than it was for the hockey or football teams.

@@camicawber Exactly, but the OP said that Vegas isn’t a stable fan base. They could be if the A’s get new ownership, if not, their not gonna have a fan base anywhere
@camicawber
@camicawber 19 дней назад
@@KevinQ25 Well, at some point there is a limit to how many teams a city can support, and Vegas would be the smallest media market to try and hold three. Not saying it can't happen - just that they'd be the smallest media market to try. Anyway, the A's do have a fan base. In the East Bay. In Northern California. They've been driven away by shameful ownership, but the fans do exist.

Really Jeff Passan? Cmon you are better than this. I get it - a small minority of Twitter users has convinced the world that John Fisher is broke and kicks puppies But Fisher might consider keeping the A's permanently in a AAA stadium or a travel team? You just lost serious credibility with me
@camicawber
@camicawber 20 дней назад
I don't think he ever suggested that either would really happen. The reference to that minor league team he covered and to the A's staying in a AAA stadium were comments on the how poorly the A's have been run. Didn't seem to be any kind of actual prediction or even a suggestion of what might happen to the team going forward.

NOBODY in Vegas wants the A's coming here ! If you add teams to the MLB and Vegas has a chance ? Vegas will embrace that immensely !!! Most arent happy with the Raiders coming here ! The Golden Knights ? Embraced forever !!
