Michigan’s defense and run game really bailed McCarthy out this season. They always say “he didn’t throw as much in college” but going to expect him to be this superstar in the NFL. This really starting to feel like Zach Wilson again. And honestly that’s who his play style remind me of.

You clearly didn’t watch how many times JJ bailed Michigan out on 3rd and long with an incredible play. The run game and defense were great this year but JJ almost always delivered when he was asked too

I just don't see the Drake Maye stuff at all. To me he's more Mitch Trubisky and Sam Howell than he is Josh Allen. He never won any important games at UNC. He went 2-9 down the stretch of both seasons. He failed to pull his team up. Who picks a guy top 3 who has a worse season than his first season? McCarthy though reminds me of Aaron Rodgers coming out. Talented but needs more seasoning. He's got the arm, mobility and moxie.

Maye was one of the worst qb's throwing underneath, throwing with a clean pocket and in routine easy plays...

They sure might. He has a lot of the intangibles and showed the ability to make some plays that not many other college QBs can. But to me it’s a considerable gamble to assume that he will develop to be what an nfl qb needs to be. He’s a major project. I tend to agree with the assessments made on the PFF show about him.

It won’t shock me if Maye ends up being really good at some point. He has a lot of the intangibles. A great highlight reel, but he throws the ball into the ground about every third throw, and we’re talking layups. I forget which ex-qb said that literally no other starting qb in the nfl does that, you just can’t. Maybe he can get his footwork and everything cleaned up, but he is a serious project.

JJ McCarthy did what he was asked, and that makes him amazing.... And, I wanna agree with that... I wanna applaud that.... But they said exactly the same thing, word for word, about Tim Tebow..... Who, ohhh by the way, was also a National Champion..... This draft is gonna be crazy.... But I think you need to keep an 80 pound salt bag next to you, when Rich talks about JJ McCarthy.... Rich is convinced that JJ McCarthy walked across Lake Michigan yesterday morning.... So, let's be careful here.... When they say "take it with a grain of salt", uhhhh.... Take a handful of salt pellets, when Rich is talking about JJ McCarthy....

Good report. If the Washington commanders do not take this young football player, JJ McCarthy at the number to pick then the Washington team will once again be doomed. Jaylin Daniel may be good, but he looks exactly like Robert Griffith third and he was out of the league before three years. I’m just a fan but even I can see that Williams and Daniels are gonna be broken in three years. JJ McCarthy is a professional football player and in three years he’ll be winning a Super Bowl somewhere. I hope it’s with Washington.

overhyping the guy, with the right system he may be a successful starter or even have a long career as a backup. Saw him play against Stroud in '22. Big difference in the way the ball was thrown between the 2. He's a worker, he's got heart...we shall see

JJ McCarthy failed my eye test, particularly by missing too many open throws. He's definitely not worth a top 10 pick. That said, his athleticism will surprise people that didn't watch Michigan play.
