It’s insane how much hate Tatum and the Celtics get….no matter what is done! Tatum is a superstar but gets treated like dog shiet by most NBA fans outside of Celtics fans. Even when he wins a chip with Boston, they’ll still hate.
Well it's not that insanee. Everyone makes them 3 years in a row the best team in the league 😂😂😂😂 every season same story: Celtics are going to win an NBA championship blah, blah, blah... Soo, if they are soo great, why the hell they can't win championship?? It really isn't some hate, that's just reality 😂😂😂 Tatum and Celtics as team still need to prove some things and they didn't prove nothing.
The Tatum hate is definitely weird, when other players get way more love while having way less team success and defining individual moments Tatum has struggled in big games but it also doesn’t get mentioned enough how many times he’s pulled through and been that guy in crucial games, but the Celtics as a team definitely deserve to be looked at under a hard mircoscope because 5 conference finals in 7 years with only 1 finals appearance and no wins to show for it is underwhelming for a perennial conference finalist, if they don’t win one within these next 2 seasons I think drastic changes will be made with that roster
@@elijahguerrero1490 it's not all about team success, it's alao about how player performs. For example, Tatum has better play off success than Luka. Is he a better basketball player? Hell no😂😂😂 because Luka maybe didn't go still soo far like Tatum in play offs, you know that 99% of the time when his team loses, it's not his fault and he gave everything he had. Wins or lose, most of his games are incredible. While Tatum wins a lot of times when he plays bwd and also his team looses because he is playing bad. So nobody hates him, he simply isn't nearly the best player in the league and that's it🤣🤣nobody is saying that he isn't superstar, but he is top 6 in the league right now at his best.
Not more than Tatum 😂😂😂😂 have you watched last year's play off?? Do you know how many points did Booker averaged in first round??? He averaged 38 and he shot insanee 64% from the field and 54% from 3 point range I believe with nearly 90% from the free throw line. Do you how many points he averaged against Denver??? Above 32 again on great efficiency. Tatum never played as great as Booker's 2nd best series of his career against Denver last year amd he is light years far from those 38 points per game. Both of them played in finals, nobody of them won it so I don't understand what more did Tatum acomplished to be recognised as better player than Booker?? Help me out...
Kendrick and Steven A consistently have some of the worst takes in all of NBA punditry. Really unfortunate they have such big microphones. They don't deserve it!
Jayson Tatum is the most hated player in the league for absolute 0 reason. Giddey and Bridges don’t even get as much hate as Tatum and he isn’t sleeping with kids or hitting people, he just a good dad who’s also good at basketball
What I don’t understand is, about a month ago the same guys in Stephen Smith and Kendrick Perkins were talking about Jayson Tatum as the face of the league. Make it make sense.
@@jacobscholtissek2410I don’t watch any of these hot take shows, I’ll watch some podcasts from All NBA with Tim Legler and Adam Mondez, they are really good.
The guy dropped 50 points in a game 7 vs Philly last season and also went on the road to drop 44 against the bucks in a game 6 to force a game 7….he’s had his fair share of big time moments
@@user-lt1fx2he5sdid lebron, hakeem, ray allen, paul pierce, garnett, dwight howard and mj win at 25🤡? Swear to god y'all expect tatum to have 3 rings already. He's barely 26, give him time
@@user-lt1fx2he5s he was still not in his prime then as was not as mature. He was 23 at that time they played the experienced GSW team. Most players win as a number 1 option when they are in the 27,28,29 age range.
Yeah, I don't find it that outlandish to at least make the argument that he has disappeared at the absolute worst times. Aka as recent as the heat series last year and 2022 NBA Finals.
I’m not a Tatum fan, but it really is about roster construction in the past, they had Marcus Smart thinking he should take every shot at the end of the game, you have a guy like Brown who is sort of the same as Jayson so the hierarchy is weird. No post bigs, just stretch. And sort of weird coaching with Mazulla, they shoot wayyyy too many threes. I’m just tired of these pundits always tearing down own to elevate another for controversy sake.
@@sirkevstah289it was shameful going down 0-3 but I think if Jayson hadn’t hurt himself they would’ve won in game 7. But you’re right, need to work on that
You are so right about the ESPN ignorant slimeballs who constantly play favorites for pay and never giving credit where credits due......the sacrifice of Tatum to give other players a chance to upgrade their stats is something i was not aware of till you pointed it out.....very commendable on your part and Tatum's👍
Before he signed with clutch draymond green was making fun of Kendrick during the finals waving fake Pom poms to mock him cheering Lebrun from the bench and being a fake tough guy. Only time green was funny
I think that Tatum's struggles with the media mostly stem from two things. One: he's a very quiet player. There have been times where I've thought, "man, Tatum hasn't really done that much this game," looked at the box score, and seen he had 40. He dominates, but he does it really quietly, so it's hard to think of iconic Tatum moments, y'know? Second, he plays for the Boston Celtics, a franchise that's so storied that if you aren't widely considered one of the most talented individuals to ever pick up a basketball, you're a footnote. So it's hard to think of Tatum as great when he's standing in the shadow of Bill Russell and Larry Bird. At the end of the day, the media doesn't change how good he is. Appreciate his talent while we have the opportunity to watch it.
Playoff sample size is too small to be statistically significant bubba. It's not like he's not trying to miss during the regular season where the sample size is much larger and therefore much more significant.
Tatum is a future hall of famer and the best player on a team with a championship on its horizon while Perkins never got the recognition the Boston Big 3 had when they became champs. He is neither a hall of famer nor had his jersey retired by the organization. Perkin's constant detraction of Tatum smells of insecurity and pettiness.
It’s not just those finals… And I wouldn’t just blame his shooting or clutch shooting. Tatum is wildly inconsistent in the playoffs and is a turnover machine. There are times where he just isn’t noticeable in the playoffs. It’s cool to have big time moments… but you then can’t disappear the next time out
When it comes to analysts, Kendrick Perkins is the GOAT!!! See how ridiculous that sounds when you say it aloud? It feels pretty much the same way whenever Perkins tries to speak "intelligently"
Bro choked in the finals. KD hit a clutch shot to win A chip everything else is empty stats and by your metric Charles Barkley and Patrick Ewing are two of the most dominant post season players of all time if you wanna put Tatum in that. CROWN him than
I absolutely have to agree. Tatum has had a great career until now, and at such a young age. He has his slacking moments, who hasn't? Even Bron and Curry had em. Tatum has consistent deep playoff runs now for the last 3 or 4 years. Tatum is so great and underrated
ESPN can be slimey when crafting a narrative. For instance they average multiple years worth of stats and say it doesnt seem MVP worthy. Why would previous years stats matter at all for MVP?!
Until the celtics get it done under his watch he will always have "choke" attached to him. 2022 and 2023 they were the better team and should have won. He may play fine but it's his team and if his team show a lack of mental fortitude when bit matters, it falls on the coach and him
Tatum has a post season nickname… Elimination Tatum is a real thing… my heart broke when his ankle rolled in game 7, it was the perfect stage for legendary status.
Tatum should have won a championship by now. I feel that he let 2022 slip away because he underperformed horribly. He has no excuses to not win this year. It will be a major disappointment if they don’t come out of the East.
Just to be their advocate, i think they mention his clutch stat when talking about regular season mvp? I dunno i don't watch espn, but i heard mr A saying mvp so im guessing it was about regular season. Weird to don't count playoff stats but what can you expect tbf
Some fans act like having playoff experience is somehow comparable with winning a Championship. If you Never win the Championship then you’re “ experience “ isn’t as great an really asset for you as you believe …! 🤷♂️
It pains me to see what Perkins has become as the '08 Celtics are my favorite team of all time, but he clearly has no intelligence when it comes to basketball and is just out there spewing whatever nonsense Klutch tells him to regurgitate. With that said, Tatum is in a do or die situation, he and the Celtics have been "favorites" the last 3 years and have failed.
Gentle reminder...Kendrick Perkins averaged 5.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.0 assists on 21.9 minutes and 53% shooting as a fucking CENTER in the NBA...53%...as a center...So when he talks shit about other players, just keep that in mind. Dude played 17,162 minutes in the NBA and scored 4,214 points, which means he scored 1 bucket for every 8 minutes of game play...as a fucking CENTER... He was 6' 10" and averaged 65% from 0-3 feet...
Completely agree with everything u say - great work on JT’s playoff stats. Steven A has never been a fan of the major New England sports. He conjures hot takes for the sake of having a “hot take” and now Perk follows in line - he’s chugging the ESPN kool aid and has likely been told to separate his true green colors to appease the masses. It was just last season where Perk was a local Celtics analyst for years. Add his championship ring from the 08 team and bang - true lifelong love and loyalty to the Boston Celtics franchise. Fast forward to present day/on the national espn stage…he NEEDS to temper his Boston roots and agree to the useless and fraudulent takes on JT. The only legit take on JT’s clutch topic is his mediocrity in hitting a single game winning shot but that was likewise and mostly regular season stats. Underneath those boxy ill fitting suits, Perk is a Celtic through and through and just following the clown we unfortunately know all too well…Stephen A. JT is the best player on the court and this years stats show it.
And honestly I don't agree with you that Porzingis's trading had something to do with Tatum's averages this season, I don't know that is the case, but the point is... Last year Tatum played the best basketball of his life for the biggest part in regular season, he simply played the best season of his career. This year his season was also really good, but simply he wasn't that good like he was last year. But let's hope that he eill play better in play offs this season because I also want so see how Tatum gets successful, but for me he still needs to prove some things.
I'm a Celtics fan and JT does frustrate me at times but the criticism/agenda against him is a bit much. Not many 25 and under players are leading their teams to championships. The Birds, Magics, and Duncans are rare.
Its a shame that any time the NBA is discussed I have to hear from Kendrick Perk. There's a plethora of former players we could hear from but this is their guy?
lol I love how people are so quick to judge. guy just turned 26. he still has 6-7 years of prime playing. at least he's not butler whos 34 and still has zero chips. playoff jimmy they say lol.
I've been saying all of this for years now. Truth is, people believe what they want to believe. If anything Tatum tends to start games slow, and then come out swinging later in the game to close things out. That just seems to be his style. Tatum has been huge in the playoffs ever since his rookie year. When he was a 19 year old rookie the Celtics were without Gordon Hayward for the season, then on top of that they also lost Kyrie Irving just before the playoffs began. Every single sports commentator said the Celtics had no hope without Kyrie and would lose in the first round. A 19 year old Tatum stepped up on a huge way and was instrumental in helping to carry that celtics squad all the way to the ECF, where they pushed Lebron's Cavs to something like 6 or 7 games. And you could very easily make the argument that Tatum was the Celtics best player during that stretch (either Tatum or Horford). I also find it funny that people point out the Heat series last year as somethign to hold against Tatum. Look at the game by game stats and it's blatantly obvious that Tatum was THE best player in that entire series. And it really wasn't close. Tatum really only had one bad game in that series up until he suffered the injury at the start of game 7. Butler played absolutely horribly and completely dissapeared in games 4-6, while Tatum never had two bad games in a row that entire series. If there is one criticism I do have of Tatum it's not that he isnt cluch...in fact its kinda the opposite. Tatum has a frustrating tendancy to not show up when the games seem like they are less important. For example, any time the Celtics build a big lead in a serires (2-0,. 3-0, etc) Tatum has a tendancy to disappear the next game - almost like he struggles to find the motivation and goes into cruise control mode. When the games seem like they aren't that meaningful he often doesn't show up. But once the opponnent wins a game or two and the Celtics are back in "must win" territory, then you can immediately see Tatum's motivation peak again and he almost always responds with a monster game. It's for that reason that I expect he would have had a huge game 7 agaisnt the heat last year if not for the injury.
What series was you watching??? Tatum was not the “best player” in that series.. if he was they would never been down 0-3 to begin with… the hell you talking about?
@Ljay968 He absolutely was. Take a look at the stats, they don't lie For the series tatum averaged 25.3 points, 10.3 rebounds and 5.4 assists on 47% shooting. He led the series on both points and rebounds and was second in the series in assists. He finished at a +12 overall for the series if you don't count the final injured game 7 result. He had four 30+ point games in the series, 6 double-doubles and only two games below 20 points (one being the injured game). Butler averaged 24.7 points, 7.6 rebounds, 6.1 assists on 42% shooting. He had zero 30+ point games, one double-double and 3 games below 20 points. Is not even close. Tatum was BY FAR the best player on the series, especially if you ignore the stats from game 7 when he couldn't even walk with an obvious limp. It was Tatum's outplaying of Butler that allowed the celtics to win three straight and come back from a 0-3 hole, and if Tatum didn't get injured in game 7 and the celtics had won the series then the entire narrative would be totally different - everybody would be talking about Butler disappearing in multiple games, getting thoroughly outplayed by Tatum and the embarrassment of being the only team in history to blow a 3-0 lead in the playoffs.
besides saying "i feel like the best player" is just auto motivation, you dont gonna say "no we cant win this one" no matter the odds you go and try to play like the best player in the world, doesnt matter if you play 40 or 3 minutes
I dislike him as a Sixers fan. But as a basketball I say he's best small forward in the league. And after seeing the disrespect he's getting from the clowns on ESPN it makes want to root for him in a way.
I agree with nearly every single one of your takes....but not this one. TAtum puts off strong Carmelo Anthony vibes...he’s gonna have to get over the hump in the playoffs to get that kind of acknowledgement from me
He's a great player hands down but I think that he does too much in the regular and when they playoffs take off he's there but not like they be but let's see how he does this yr
The three peat Bulls after a disgusting defeat against magic at semis mj recruited rodman to build a super mega team to secure another three peat 😂😂😂😂 pioneer of recruitment 😂😂😂😂
I agree with you, but you have to understand that to be recognised as clutch player, you have tobe clutch in finals where also matters the most (which he apsolutely wasn't), it is helpful if you won title in your career and you have to perform clutch in both regular season and play offs. I can't say that Tatum isn't clutch player, but I also can't say that he is clutch player too because he hasn't done anything spectacular, to save his team from eliminating or something else... For example, he scored over 50 points in game 7 vs Phily last year, but guess what, Boston destoyed them completely that game, even if he scored 10 or 15 points less they would still win. And what happened after that??? He couldn't hit a shot in game 6 against Heat and obviously he was injured in game 7 so I don't count that. Here are some players that are more clutch than Tatum in the league: Nikola Jokic, Kyrie Irving, Luka Doncic, Lebron James, Damian Lillard and maybe even Steph (not sure about that). Soo maybe he is clutch player, but if you compare him with superstars in this league, there are without a doubt 5 superstars in this league that are more clutch than Tatum.
not a lot of players lead their team to the finals at the age of 24. and he's had more good series than bad series. 2 bad series shouldn't be indicative of his whole career, especially since his career isn't even over yet
as a sixers fan, the celtics own us. Tatum specifically owns us. Hes a killer. Yeah he has bad games but every volume scorer does, especially when your taking side stepping, fading, leaning 3s and long twos like Tatum. I thought Embiid to start the season was the best in the east, followed by Giannis and Tatum 3rd. Tatum to me is a top 5 player because he can also play defense. He cant pass like Jokic or Luka, but he can rebound just like them, score just as much and is a far better defender. Can't believe the dude who has been shitting on my team for the past 5 years, is getting slander and I have to defend him. The only hate he should get is for texting a deceased Kobe Bryant "I gotchu today".
It’s because he has had the best supporting cast almost every single season since he came into the league and has 1 horrible finals series to show for it
I am a Celtics fan from Boston… Has Tatum had clutch moments yes… idc what the numbers say to me he is not clutch… there has been games in the playoffs when Tatum needed to be clutch but he was standing around not wanting the ball… standing in the 3 pt corner being lockdown by players he was clearly better than… I remember screaming at the TV saying Tatum go get the damn ball, you letting this dude lock you down, that was a bad shot ETC ETC… Tatum was getting cooked during this time you mentioned by our local sports media here in Boston for not being clutch.. I do not want to do all this typing to get more specific.. I will land my plane
I disagree to the Jimmy butler take bc like you just said for sha your team matter and Jimmy has just went further in the playoffs without a supporting cast like the one Jason Tatum has had in the past years and Jimmy has multiple time upset them plus the reason to why Jimmy gets a pass for bad final performance is bc he is usually hurt or just gassed out bc of how much he is asked to do for the heats
Sports analysis? We don't need it. We have the internet. Cut out all the trash talk, just look at the numbers. I don't need Kendrick Perkins or Steven A
the thing with tatum is that he’s inconsistent he was terrible vs miami last year especially from 3 that whole series and had 0 points in the 4th quarters in games 1-3 he was the reason why they were down 0-3 he can either play good or meltdown no in between
Bro literally extrapolating out 2 points for an entire years lol it’s your stats that are misleading, regular season sample size makes it a more legitimate indicator.
Not a fan of Tatum but he's very underrated, Luka is VERY overrated. Mvp should be 1 Tatum 64 wins 74 games played 2 jokic 57 wins 79 games played 3 brunson 50 wins 77 games played and no Randell 4 Shai 57 wins 75 games played 5 Luka 50 wins 70 games played, Dallas has kyrie
