@@kobidebee2621 In the South Korea game (the last game from the Group Stage WC2022) Portugal had 1st place locked. Ronaldo had a pact with Santos to play +- 60mins on that game because he chasing Portugal's ever top scorer in WCs, Eusébio, who had 9 goals vs 8 from Ronaldo. Pretty much like this Euros vs Georgia. Portugal had 1st place locked. But he wanted to become the oldest player to score in Euros and also score at 6 different Euro editions so Martinez gave him 60mins. In that Korea game, when Santos subbed him off, we were losing 2-1 if I'm not wrong. And Ronaldo was yet to score. Ronaldo was pissed he got subbed off, and when he was handing the captain armband to Pepe, Santos made a gesture for him to be quicker because we were losing. When Santos made that gesture, Ronaldo said (in portuguese) something like: 'You're in a hurry to take me off' But he said it in a very rude way and with portuguese curses in the middle of that. Everyone who speaks portuguese knows what he said because it was very evident from the replay. After the match they asked Ronaldo what happened and he said he was talking to a Korean player. Which was a lie. Portuguese TVs showed a lot of different angles from that moment and it was clear that he said that to the manager. Moral of the story: Santos got mad at him (a day after he even said he wouldn't tolerate that behavior) and benched him the next game vs Switzerland. He alleged that it was for tactical reasons. But it was obvious it was because he took that Ronaldo moment personally. Then its history, Ramos who played in his place scored an hat trick vs Switz and Ronaldo was also benched against Morocco. It was never about tactics. Santos had never dropped Ronaldo before, ever. And also never started Ramos ahead of Ronaldo. Why would he do it in a WC elimination game when that Korea didn't even matter? It was personal, not tactics.
