Carra calling him T-Bag from Prison Break 😂 J/k...I started watching United in the mid 90s and watched videos from before then and I've not seen a better RB at United before or since. Absolute United Legend 🙌
Almost as good as that where time Graeme Souness stated: “For me, it looked like that cat hadn’t done anything wrong” When analysing Kurt Zouma beating up his cat.
Carragher casually reminding Gary and Roy what happened in a final they both played in 30 years ago. His knowledge and memory of the game is phenomenal.
I can't remember if i sent an email before lunch and Jamie can recall positional changes from a 20 year old game he didn't even play in. Absolutely incredible.
Finally they discussing Gary downplaying his own career, he is an absolute united legend and one of the greatest right backs ever in premier league history.
Gary Neville won’t want that, because Mourinho might talk about things that happened at United with players and Neville is obsessed with not blaming the players like Rashford, Shaw, etc.
Just shows you how important application and attitude is, the best book I've read is by Craig Johnstone, his talent wasn't natural and he overheard Jack Charlton wanting to send him home,it drove him to practice and practice and was eventually signed by Liverpool,a great example of "you can do anything if you want it enough"
This show is much more than just football. It’s a chat with friends about life and symbolises just how important meeting and having a simple chat with friends can be.
"You go against him - you go against all of us". Keane's words in regards of the abuse David Beckham received after 98 World Cup. It's astonishing to see he's still like this for his Teammates. He defended with passion Solskjaer, Ronaldo and every former teammate of his that he felt was being attacked. Now hearing he was annoyed by Garry's self deprecation. What a man!
Ian Wright might be the most wholesome guy in football. A genuine national treasure. Always tries to involve people, always sees the positives and tries to understand. Been watching MOTD for years and you only really see people as pundits. Overlap has shown a bit more of whats behind the masks.
@mh_7are you just commenting this everywhere expecting a response? You think Sir Alex would come on when Roy is there? We all know the stories. Old drama and unnecessary.
I will always see Roy as the big brother of the class of '92. Not sure if that's fair, but he just gives the vibe that he's proud of them and proud of having played with them.
Carragher smacks lips together, deep intake of breath .."For me, when I look at Shrek, and I compare it to say, your Toy Stories, I sit and think this film is just not quite up to the standard of the top, top level animation movie franchises. Now don't get me wrong...."
Touch screen out. “Right…..there” points at some part of the opening scene of Shrek. “Shrek has to get tighter to donkey in those opening scenes. As soon as I saw that I knew this film was going to have big big problems”.
The fact that Jamie knows Steve Bruce went off and Roy went right back and both united players didn't know that is insane. The fella breathes football. A true encyclopedia
The one on one interviews for Sir Alex are much better for a man of his age, this is no disrespect as hes still sharp but I think the pacing for him and being able to stop for an edit or 2 would be better for him rather than the off the cuff of 5 other people
This is great. Gary deserved this - time and memory had started to make people forget how good he was and he does need to give himself more credit. Good to see.
Most modest and underrated player ever. Carried Becks through 2 International tournaments when Becks had niggles. There's a reason England has so many quality right backs now. That reason is Gary Neville
Hope the narrative starts to change back around with Gary Neville. Deserves all the praise for a ridiculously impressive career and I'm glad its now being highlighted. Big up Gary.
When you can just make up one of the best episodes there’s been, out of absolutely nothing. This is so great. The love towards Gary from not only Roy but also Jamie. The love from Ian towards everyone, at all times. This is so good. I love this show
Gary Neville talking about never having a fallout with his family or that he will never have one is the best part. He is a total family man and my respect went up for him ten fold!
Carragher telling Neville and Keane where they played in a match in 1995...amazing knowledge/memory. I actually worked at Old Trafford for 18 months in 2009/10...Gary was a gentleman on the few occasions I spoke to him. Great episode 👍🏼
@mh_7 Given he's 82 and suffered an aneurysm not that long ago, if it was Fergie, I'd say it's understandable if he felt he didn't have it in him. I would love him to go on this though.
GNev was so consistent and 100% knew his position inside and out. Never tried to do anything fancy. Just always disciplined performance. Very professional also very very consistent which is the key I always felt for England safe. When he was at right back I knew he would put a shift in and not make many mistakes. That's it
Say all you want about Gary especially is stint at Valencia but that man's got determination and discipline in abundance, and it proves that hard work pays off ,when Ian was introducing him and saying how much trophies he's won, and the fact he didn't stop after finishing his footballing career he carried on with his life in a determined way to succeed even after his footballing career. Nothing but respect Gary, BIG UP YOURSELF MY G!!!!!
Gary really does deserve all his flowers. He epitomizes putting in the work and dedication to be the best version of ones own self. His success in business, punditry, social media and football is no fluke. Keep it up Gary!!
Finally people around Neville tell him not to play down his achievements. We appreciate the humility Gary, but let's not get it twisted...you sir are a legend. Your commitment to United and the game is an incredible template for others to follow.
That was brilliant. I'm glad Gary did this. It's a great idea by Keane. When Kesne said in all seriousness, "You deserve better." Heartwarming. He's right. When he rags on Gary, it's banter, not malicious.
It’s laced with truth and that’s why it’s funny. Everyone has Literally lost their heads over Neville’s career. He was the worst player in the team… for 10 years!!
@@craigoliver8712 come on mate. He was club captain. Had a good season 06/07, then Wes brown took his place and barely played again. Stop pretending he was a good captain.
Wrighty signing off so quickly and saying right lets go home, and then gets up and immediately heads to Gary to hug him. What a man. Love the camraderie on the show.
Great episode, it’s nice to see Neville getting some praise. Annoying when he puts himself down all the time it's like he's trying to please all the rivals that hate United. He's easily one of the best right backs we've seen in the league that's why he kept his place in the team so long, Sir Alex was ruthless but he always stuck with Neville
Let's be honest, its frustrating to see Gary massively downplay his career. The man has won soo much and performed at an extremely high standard for more than a decade!!
Enjoyed that, respect to Gary, since he retired from playing, he always took stick really well, self deprecating and that humble attitude is why nobody is disrespecting his career seriously. We all have a bit of imposter syndrome, it’s human nature. Well done Gary, this is the only football podcast/show I watch.
Gary was my idol and role model as a fellow RB back during my playing days. I would just watch him during games on TV to see what he does and incorporate them into my own game. Hands down the best RB in the world for me at the height of his career, and definitely a top bloke until now. Deserves all the credit he gets and more. Even until today, his work ethics and discipline should be admired. If only the current United players have even half the amount of dedication, discipline, and work ethics that GNev and his teammates had, United would be doing so much better as a whole.
For all the stick he gets, Gary Neville is one of the best defenders United and England have ever had, and maybe among the best of all time. Consistent & reliable, gave 100% every single match, no surprise he went on to have the career he had. United probably don’t win as much as they do without him, they sure could use someone like him now. Neat to see him in the guest seat!
Couldn’t agree with you more about one of the best Utd, England, and the premier league has very had. Among the best of all time is reaching. He doesn’t get up amongst the Cafu, Lillian Thuram, and Phillip Lahms of this world in my opinion.
Great episode having Gary as the Guest. One of the most humble player tbf. Maybe it is his upbringing of being so down to earth. He deserve all the credits as much as all his teammates got. People still think Sir Alex will pick someone mid for what 15 years for his team's success all those years. Think again guys. Gary is brilliant.
Gary is a true legend! One of my favorite players of all time. His dedication and IQ are what made him a great player for United and England. He doesn’t get the love he deserves because he jokes about his own style of play. He was the best RB in England in his era.
Great to see Gary Neville from the Gary Neville podcast as the special guest this week. Unfortunate, Gary Neville couldn't make this one. Could've been a cracking interview. But Wrighty did well in his place.
This is literally the greatest football show out there. This was a great concept and should definitely be done for the rest of the gang! Also, Carra’s football knowledge is INSANE.
Brilliant, brilliant episode! I’ve loved watching the show even though I’m not massively in to football but always been a bit frustrated at the narrative around Gary’s football ability! Would love to see the positivity continue 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
I’ve been dying for Gary to actually talk about his career. His stats at the beginning are insane. If you said that was about some player in another country you would assume he was the best defender ever….
Iv not seen the comments but il say it for the majority of viewers. Having Gary as the guest is a brilliant move. One of the best English right backs and one of best to play in England. Under appreciated massively and glad they pulled him up about downplaying himself. Top class getting to see him open up about himself after the amount of hardwork he does and no one gives praise.
Alex Ferguson could’ve replaced him with any RB in the world. But the fact that he didn’t and won 8 PL titles along the way shows you Gary was no chump and was indeed one of the best RB’s in the PL era, maybe even the best. Criminally underrated
Really enjoyed this surprise interview with Gary. I have massive respect for Gary and appreciate his honesty, work ethic and genuine humble attitude. What a wonderfully entertaining, inspirational and funny show… kudos to everyone involved.
Whoever no showed, thank you! This was great and allowed Neville to explain his punching down of his career and shamed Keane into giving him the praise he deserves. Great insight. Look forward to the other Grilled sessions
When you hear Gary talk about the legends like Nobby Styles and the ethos within united, made the class of 92 and imprinted into the club, It’s so important to get Roy Keane back at that club in some capacity it transcends the years.
Maybe it’s nostalgia but Neville played in the best era of football for talented players. Imagine Cafu or Roberto Carlos playing today. The games different these days and so are fans. Trent is the worst RB defensively I’ve ever seen and he’s paraded around like the best player in the world..
When Gary speaks about the world class players he’s played with and against for so many years, just proves that he was at their level. He was a rock at RB.
I love Gary’s honesty. He has the ability to be genuinely unbiased and prepared to highlight his own shortcomings and play himself down. Love what he had to say about his brother/family. Like him or not, agree with him or not…either way he comes across as a genuinely good guy
Despite Gary downplays himself, he is by far one of the best RB in the EPL history.. credit to Sam from @unitedpeoplestv for recently making that video... Hall of fame , coming soon
As a United fan I always liked Gary, however my favourite thing about him is the side of him we've seen since he's finished. Really driven and honest about it, open to telling you how difficult it's been at parts and how focused he's had to be. He is a very impressive person and a lot of people would do well using Gary as a role model.
Ian wright is an amazing man with a heart of sheer gold. However we need to start a petition for him to stop calling Gary “gal”. “Gaz would be totally fine but “gal” come on wrighty😂
Love it! I was getting all misty eyed when Keano was giving Gary his due props about being a great player when normally he's playfully taking the p**s out of him. Great stuff guys, the best footy show Ive ever watched and I just turned 57 myself so Ive seen a few!
Really hope the guys can make this happen… would break the internet seeing Roy and Sir Alex putting aside their differences. Everyone would love to see these two legends being great friends again!
In Garys comment that he had all those great players around him, I wonder if he realises that his great skill is being great at what he does and working hard top allow those around him to shine. He does the same in his current work. He is a proper king. He allows others to flourish and so flourishes himself. Its a beautiful character trait. Top man.
One thing, Gary was better than he says, always consistently good performance at the highest level - in one of the best teams of that era. He always gave 100% effort. Rarely had a bad game, and managers love that.
