ESPN Stephen A. Smith on the Kwame Brown for Pau Gasol trade. Funny but true!! If you liked this video... you'll like this one too: • "Pau Gasol is the Anti...
@@Jdot2tact 100% totally not true. Bynum had a lot of raw talent but didn’t really become a factor until 2011 when he became an all star. Yes the Lakers had length and Bynum was very good at rim protecting, but getting KG and getting Paul Gasol would have won possibly 4-5 rings
"They gave up kwame brown, who cares." "The city of LA should be celebrating "He's a bonafide scrub." Top 3 Lines Bonus: They should throw a parade already
“Kwame Brown is a bonafide scrub” “The city of LA should be celebrating” “He has no game whatsoever” “They should throw a parade” “No disrespect intended” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Anybody who had watched Gasol on the Grizz it was clear how valuable he was. Stephen A Smith actually got something right is what stands out the most to me in this video.
this aged really well lol. 3 straight trips to the finals and 2x back to back champs right after the trade. yeah, i would say the trade was well worth it. thanks pau!
He has small hands, he can't catch the ball! He's got bad feet, he can't really move even though he's mobile, doesn't really know what he's doing! Doesn't have a post move that he, reh, he, puts to memory, that he can do two times in a row! He has no game whatsoever, plays no defense, doesn't have the heart, the passion, or anything that comes with it, and you're asking me whether they gave up too much?!?!?!? PLEASE!!!!
Marc Gasol's inclusion meant both teams won. Lakers got a guy in his prime that led to another couple of championships. Memphis got a rookie who would be their best player for most of the next decade.
@@sld1776 That would imply that players weren't being picked higher because they were white. You can't make a claim like that without being able to elaborate on that topic....??
I feel like low-key he knew Stephen A Smith was ripping into Kwane and kinda wanted to make it sound like the trade was not about kwame . If there was no kwame brown in this he would of not asked those questions but come on Stephen a was bodying Kwame the man on the left prolly felt so bad for kwame lool
Ayyy that’s my uncle The producer of that show told him to back up Kwame brown for entertainment. if anything he should have gotten a raise for taking his side when he knew he was wrong.
Pau just named his new daughter after Kobe and his wife is the god mom. That’s beautiful and this trade was a wonderful thing for all involved even Kwame Brown
He can clap all he wants but Stephen A was 100% correct. I endured this sad piece of garbage for 2 and a half seasons in LA. He was pathetic. The Lakers traded nothing (Him) for something (Pau) that was straight un highway robbery.
@@therealdakshina1051 At the time Gasol was a second round pick that haven’t played a minute in the NBA. He got a good career but Pau is better and opened a championship window for the Lakers.
@@borilocofer Been a Lakers fan for 25 years so I also watched him in LA and yes his career was underwhelming for a #1 pick. However that's not his point. Everyone doesn't wanna be MJ or Kobe. Some are happy to play the game as role players and get paid. Kwame made it to the NBA and played 12 years as a pro. He bought his momma a house at 18 and elevated his family from poverty. So we can critique his game but does it warrant all that gratuitous mockery he's had too deal with for 20 years? There have been far worse careers and far worse examples for the youth than Kwame so why do people still feel the need to bring him down?
13 years later he backs off his comments and blames others for his take. Weak nigga straight geek nigga loud and boisterous but when called out you weep nigga .
"Pau Gasol for Kwame Brown" Three Great Things happened because of this trade. 1. The Lakers made it to 3 NBA Finals 2. The Lakers won 2 NBA Championships 3. Laker Haters everywhere went Berserk!
Lakers are gonna make it back again. You know how LeBron with the Heat said "This is for the City of Miami", for Cavilers he said "This is for you Cleveland". I hope when they win it LeBron says "This is for you, Kobe". That would be awesome!😊
Sam1Am _ Hmmmm I remember all Lakers fans always talking shit about LeBron but now all Lakers fans love riding LeBron. For that reason I would prefer if the Heat won
@@ljpal18 nah. When kwame was like 18 Stephen A went to schools and talked so much shit about him. It’s about the game but he was going out of his way to do it for his own benefit
Stephen A analysis in this video was spot on about the Pau Gasol trade. His point that LA made a good trade because they were contenders and just needed the right piece. Then Lakers went on to win two championships shortly after that without Shaq.
I put their Prime around the mid-90s (dan Patrick, keith Olbermann etc) up until around the time that around the horn and pti blew up, so like early to mid 2000s but they were still solid here
Is that a trick question? They gave up Kwame Brown. Who cares? I could care less. First of all understand something, when you're giving up first round picks, if you are a quality team in playoff contention, it really doesn't mean that much. That's number 1, and number 2, Kwame Brown is gone. The city of angels which should be celebrating throw a parade already whether you win a championship or not, this man was a bonafide scrub. He can't play, no disrespect whatsoever, but I'm sorry to go and tell everybody the truth, the man cannot play the game of basketball. He has small hands he can't catch the ball. He's got bad feet, he can't really move. Even though he's mobile, doesn't really know what he's doing. Doesn't have a post move that he puts to memory that he can do 2 times in a row. He has no game whatsoever. Plays no defense. Doesn't have the heart, the passion or anything that comes with it and you're asking me whether they gave up too much? Please. The Los Angeles Lakers knew exactly what they were doing. They should be celebrating right now and Kobe Bryant should not be saying a word.
If it weren't for Marc this goes down as one of the worst trades ever. Although the Lakers still win the trade because they went to three straight finals.
"They gave up Kwame Brown who cares!" "This man was a bonafide scrub" "He can't play" "The man cannot play the game of basketball" "He can't catch the ball" "He's got bad feet, he can't really move" "Doesn't really know what he's doing" "Doesn't have a post move that he puts to memory that he can do two times in a row" "He has no game whatsoever" "Plays no defense" "Doesn't have the heart or passion or anything that comes with it" Other than that no disrespect whatsoever LMAO!
I remember watching this when it first aired. Was laughing then and I’m still laughing now. I can’t believe how well this aged. I’ve watched this video every nba season since and haven’t found one thing he said here to be false.
The Legends probably thought these prospects have the same work ethic they have, but sadly they don't. For me Work Ethic is what separates the scrub, good, and great players.
Kobe and Pau and their families have had an amazing relationship even until his untimely death and beyond so I would say this worked out for the Lakers
Almost 15.5 years later (closing in on 16 years in 3 months), I come to this to find some comical relief and also emotional solace in the midst the craziness of life at the moment. Thank you for the memories, Stephen A Smith. Thank you for pulling this off, Mitch Kupchak. Thank you for gifting Pau to us, Jerry West.
